Mirtos is a small village, that we feel, is unspoiled by tourism. There are several tavernas, all serving delicious food. A few small bars have greek music nights. If you are looking for night clubs or kareoke nights, this is not the village for you. But, it is our favourite !!!
A charming & pretty small coastal town with plenty of good tavernes and a pleasant beach, but in a normal year with full occupancy would be very overcrowded. La Sera is a good taverna with exceptional house wine. O Platanos was sadly full. Everything easy walking distance but streets too narrow to want to drive in. A good base to explore from.
A very cozy village with a nice beach. A place we visit every summer in the last 10 years. What we love the most about the village is that it attracts older tourists and young families who are more interested in the beach and nature than clubs and very loud music. The tavernas are owned by locals and it has very good food at reasonable prices. Head to Corina face bar or Stonoto for a great cocktail and at CaNova for authentic Italian and Greek food. For local food Thalasa is a great family owned restaurant to try. I would also recommend hiring a car and visiting the nearby places as well. There are 2 Minoan settlements nearby and a fantastic gorge just 10 Mins outside the village. If you want to do some scuba 🤿 diving try the Paradise scuba diving centre by the beach 🏝 It’s friendly owner Nikos will reach you some life skills and introduce you to sea world. Once you visit Mirtos you will want to return as we did each year. Enjoy your stay!
Chilled village by the sea. Great beach, huge choice of great restaurants, perfect location for a chilled relaxing holiday but also great location for hiking, watersports visiting local mountains & caves
We came across this town by accident after stopping for lunch in Ierapetra (a great restaurant called Searocco) and finding it too busy to try and find a place to stay. We decided to keep travelling west and came across Myrtos and as it was getting late decided to stay - it is a nice little town with a great beach and a surprising selection of really good restaurants., For breakfast we found a great little cafe (Mirtos Taverna) just up from the beach that served delicious coffee in a bodum for only 2 euros.
Myrtos is authentic, beautiful and cozy place in the south of Crete. Here, I'd recommend to visit and enjoy the local food the taverns, in the middle of the village, in particular, the Mirtos Taverna where anyone can enjoy genuine greek and cretan food and drinks. There are a plenty of cafes at the seaside where you can also taste greek cuisine or just have a cup of coffee. The beach is clean and not over-crowded, and equipped with lounge chairs. I would also recommend to try hiking and walking in Myrtos and the area nearby.

Great location in an amazing seaside village. Expect a laid back vibe and enjoy the whole experience. The rooms are feeling their age but we slept like babes. There may be some plumbing issues but the hotel fits in with the whole boohoo feel. Long may Myrtos remain this way.

The apartment is very well located, just on the seafront and close to all facilities. Large and well equipped leaving room and mainly large and superb balcony. And, of course, Myrtos is really a great place! We enjoyed our stay in the Thalassa Apartments!
