Santa Maria was a nice enough beach, but you could have visited it for a day instead of spending the whole week there.
As we did not drive we were restricted to using the facilities and the beach nearby, which was lovely and clean, but very busy with daily noisy beach parties at the bars and was mostly for 18-25 year olds. There were many groups of young teenagers, so not really suitable for families.
The restaurant on the beach was very hit and miss and some days the staff gave good service, but on other days they verged on rude.
The sunbed men on the beach were extremely rude and would query our free sunbed allowance on a daily basis very intimidating and unfriendly.
The water sports were average, as the speed boat was too old to go very fast. It was very windy as well, so limited the water sports available.
The shuttle bus went daily into the nearby town and port, but we were not told about it, so only realized half way through the holiday, after talking to other holiday makers.
The meals served on site were very basic and was aimed at teenage backpackers.
It was very windy during our stay, but the sunshine was beautiful and sea lovely and clear blue.
Many people complained about their accommodation and service.
