I have been to many of the Greek Islands and it is remarkable that each one has its own characteristics and feeling. I really enjoy Tinos because it is very comfortable. It has the feeling of being a working island for the people who live here. There are some tourists, but it is not overrun by tourists. Tinos town has something for all. The restaurants are many and diverse. There are all kinds of accommodations. There is activity and still it seems to be a very quiet island. There are many little villages on Tinos and the countryside is mountainous and has much natural beauty. I think mostly to me, Tinos feels very real.
Mainly greek tourists this year. The Greek people were so kind and friendly, and happy to help. The main church in Tinos is a great place to visit or take a short walk to Agios Fokas beach. The food in the restaurants was excellent, especially the greek food. There are lots of shops to visit in Tinos, the bakery shops being my favourite! Highly recommend Tinos over neighbouring Mykonos, which we visited for 2 days. Mykonos is overpriced especially the resturants and hotels, and a lot of people there have very selfish attitudes. Go to Tinos, you won't regret it.
Nice port, good restaurants and beautiful back streets. You can see then all in a day. Most people go for the church, but the most beautiful sights are the many villages and wild beaches. Plan to rent a car for a couple of days at least to drive around the island.
Very interesting town and island, not very touristic but a real gem. There are much more beautiful places than expected. Although Tinos is mostly famous as a religious destination, it certainly has all the characteristics of a Cycladic island, traditional architecture, lovely beaches and the wild landscape. The most interesting sightseeing in Tinos is the church of Virgin Mary Megalochari, that hosts a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary and it is thought the most important religious monument in Greece. In general the island has more than 700 monasteries and churches, all in Cycladic style. Very picturesque village in Tinos is Pyrgos but also there several other very interesting and typical villages, with beautiful sea views and crystal beaches. Dovecotes are also trade mark of the island and the traditional dovecotes are located all over. They look like tiny fortresses and have geometrical patterns, which attract the doves. With a rent-a-car you may visit all the interesting places for 2 days.
I recommend the city and overall the island of Tinos, as one of the top cultural places in the Cyclades and the Aegean sea. The island seems to be an established network of picturesque and clean villages, who seem to be well-prepared to welcome, host and accommodate any type of visitors. The preparation is obvious to the whitwashed houses, the clean paths and alleys, the smiley people, the bright squares with the traditional cafeterias and restaurants where the visitor can enjoy delicious local and greek dishes from a wide range of food. The island has been a beacon of greek marble sculpture, as a non-expert visitor can easily observe in the museums (and even the cemeteries) of Pyrgos. From the orthodox church of Panagia Megalochari to the Catholic monastery of Ursulines, and from the museum of Tsoklis in Campos village to the basket weaving craftmanship in Volax, the visitor would enjoy a wonderful trip to the island culture. Proximity to all these villages and the island beaches is good, i.e. a maximum of 45-55 minutes from the city to the north-western part of the island. A 4-day visit is a must to see and enjoy the minimum of the above.
The town of Tinos (Chora) is a mix of Venetian and traditional Cyclades architecture and you will find the iconic winding paths through white and blue houses... many sweet coffee shops and stores. But you should definitely discover the stunning villages perched on the surrounding hills!
Tinos
The property was in a great location for us, situated within walking distance to the town and close to the beach we like to go to. The room was large and clean. The owners are very nice and take great pride in their business. Breakfast was delicious with an attractive presentation. The best enclosed showers I have experienced in Greece (do not have to worry about the water going all over the bathroom floor).
The location of the hotel is excellent, as well as the sea-view from the room. It is very central, close to the port of Tinos and to Panagia Evangelistria (10 minutes by foot) and near souvenir shops and restaurants. It is clean and the staff was very polite and helpful with directions around the island. Very affordable room price, especially considering the last-minute booking of it!
Tinos
The rooms had character with high ceilings and a slightly gothic chandelier. The balcony to my room looked out onto a courtyard with a magnificent bean tree, I think the type that carob is made from. We were met off the ferry which was a nice touch, and made to feel very welcome. If visiting Tinos town again I would certainly strongly consider staying there again.
Tinos
Dimitria is the best host you could possibly ask for! From meeting you at the port, to offering to give you lifts into town in her many trips around the island, to giving you local tips and genuinely caring about you - she’s a darling!! The hotel and the view are to die for!! We couldn’t stop saying “wow” everything is gorgeous and the apartments MASSIVE!!
Tinos
The location, walking distance to the beach and to the town. They are pet friendly which is rare and great to find in Greece, no problem or extra costs to stay at Prasino Oniro with our dog. They had cleaning service every day and they were flexible with our schedule. Friendly staff and great location, totally recommend it.
Met the owner who was so accommodating and wouldn’t let us leave until she provided us a full breakfast!! The view was romantic and inspiring. The staff was polite and very professional. We are planning our return to a Tinos and would definitely will book Orion Suites again. It was simply GREAT!!
Property is very well kept and tidy. The rooms are set out to resemble a traditional Tinos village. Peaceful tranquil location. Approx 20 minutes walk into Tinos town. Attractive pool area which was not too busy when we stayed late May.
The staff are so helpful and kind. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. The balconies and views are amazing - I think they’re the best in town. Location is central and easy to get to everything from.
Nice place and good situation. Close to the beach close to Tinos Town. The hotel and the pool are very great. Staff is very great also and full of kindness. We had very good time. Prefer the rooms upstairs with pool view
