Right on the harbor, and even though we were at the end of their season, the host was incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and even setting up transportation across the island for us our last morning in Mljet.

Featuring a beachfront location, Guest house Kamarin offers air conditioned accommodations in Pomena. Free Wifi is available. Some units feature a balcony with sea views. Honestly I couldn't be happier with this place. The location is absolutely perfect so I had a view of the harbour without any of the noise from the boats / cruise ships, lots of waterside cafes and restaurants within a couple minutes walk, balcony, clothesline, etc. It's about a 5 minute walk to the small lake if you want a little hike or swim, and less than a 10 minutes walk to the big lake where you can rent kayaks. I was actually working quite a lot of the time and the balcony has the perfect combo of shade and strong WiFi.

Beautiful apartment with a great balcony, two separate rooms, two modern bathrooms, a kitchen and a great sea and harbor view. The beds are comfortable and the accommodation even offers a pool! The private parking was a great plus, too. Pomena is a great starting point to explore Mljet!
Loved the national park with its saltwater lakes, swimming, cycling and walking tracks. Very small resort with a handful of bars/restaurants. Beautiful seafront with crystal clear waters. One small supermarket which stocks the essentials. Wonderful seawater pool off Hotel Odesje. Great cocktail bar for sunset viewing.
Paradisiac place. Fantastic landscapes. The Lakes are gorgeous. You can walk and cycle around them and swim whenever you fancy it. It is a must. Pomena is a nice little village with some great restaurants and bars. And overall, it is not overcrowded as number of accommodations is limited. Quick ferry trip from Dubrovnik. Lots of possible activities : hiking, biking (standard and electric), swimming, diving, kayak, ... Book early and go there
It’s a beautiful sea side town, and right at the entrance to the National Park Mljet. We couldn’t believe how friendly and nice locals were. We biked all around the Big Lake, and rented kayaks for the Small Lake. The Benedictine monastery on the St Mary’s island is from the 12th century, and we got there just in time for a Catholic Mass, and a lunch afterwards. It was beautiful.
It is the best place to stay on the Island as it is right next to the national park which is an absolute must. The sunset at the point was great and there was a good choice of restaurants nearby. It is so easy to see the national park from Pomena.
Pomena is a great base for exploring the national park end of Mljet island. We went at the start of October and although there were a fair few people arriving on boats and going to look at the lakes, once you got outside Pomena a little bit it was very quiet. On a hike of a few hours up one of the hills we passed one other group of people the whole time. If you like getting outdoors, nature, walking, hiking, swimming and that sort of thing I'd recommend Pomena and Mljet in general. A wonderful place. A few things to bear in mind when staying in Pomena. 1. You have to pay to visit the national park (which is the whole west side of the island). We paid £15 each for our 3 day stay and I think that's fair enough. 2. We didn't really look into it but I understand getting around the island is a bit of a challenge by bus. But we didn't find the need to anyway. 3. The restaurants aren't really geared up for vegetarians. It's mainly seafood/meat but there is a pizzeria or two.
Great little island for visiting the national park, cycling and hiking (only hike if you have a few days). Quite a few restaurants for a nice relaxing night but don't expect anything wild. 1x supermarket and places to rent bikes for around 11 kuna. This is a nice relaxing and exploring island. Plenty of places to go swimming in the lake.
