The village is quaint with many restaurants and those attempted were of a high standard Access to the village without a car is a little awkward although during 0900 to 1800 a motorised train with about six small carriages operates at about 20 minute intervals. There are a number of souvenir type shops and lavender and lavendula is in abundance.

A town with a character, a small gem. There is a good variety of activities, cultural events, sights and a lot of good food. It is also a souvenir heaven! Lavender in every shape, form and amount, galleries, history, walks, hikes, horses, sheep and cattle, olden days artefacts, good food and a lot of it, kind people.

Beautiful old village, full of character, fantastic views. Easy to cykle along the lake.The place is famous for lavender, one must try local food, e.g. lavender ice cream, goulash, local beer or wine. There is an old Abbey on the top of the hill, not so far local wineyards. Above all people are so friendly and relaxed.

Great place in Balaton if you want to stay in a quieter area, and then go out at night in Balatonfüred because it is pretty close. Also very beautiful, staying here definitely gives you a rich cultural experience.

I was only there one night.
I was only there one night. It was beautiful around the hotel and we found an amazing tiny place to eat, family run with just 2 tables. The view was amazing and the food, the best I’ve had in Hungary!

Cute little town.
Cute little town. We went for the hiking, and we hiked about seven miles, through woods and farmland (partly by mistake, since the trails are not that well marked). There is a lookout tower from which you can see the entire peninsula. In town, there is a hoky wax museum and a beautiful abbey that has been there since 1055, and a variety of restaurants, from little cafes to fine dining. We had dinner at Katerina’s Herb Garden and the Echo Restaurant. We went to the beach at Plage 18, a private club down the road from our hotel where, for about $17 USD, you get a towel and a lounge chair with a beach umbrella right by the water, but there are public beaches that cost less (if you bring your own towel). The water was clean and warm.

location is good near private beach, and walkable distance from the city center (like 15 minutes walking) good for quite weekend, hotel is very small and basic, nothing much to offer than room/small bar in night and it is breakfast area in the morning, but if you going for some quit time away from city then this is what you need.

If you don’t have a car, it’s about a 25min walk to the center of Tihany where you can find plenty of places to eat and a couple small stores to buy groceries.

The location was perfect, 10 minutes walk to the centre of Tihany yet in a quiet spot. Garden with privacy was also great.
