Walking in I knew I had found something special. Little did I know 3 days later I would walk out having had the most memorable stay of my 3 week trip! Rumah Pesik is living heritage and I spent an entire day discovering all the hidden nooks and crannies this place has. Every time I looked somewhere I discovered a new piece of art, a new tribal carving, a statue I hadn't yet noticed. It was better than any museum I've been to so far and so culturally diverse (artefacts from all over). I learnt so much researching artefacts and it also peaked my curiosity as to why the decor is so eclectic.. It made me learn something new about Yogyakarta history and decoration styles! My room was 1A (single room) perfectly sized for me and my bed was an intricate Chinese carved bed that made me feel like I was sleeping in a C-drama period story... The manager Ershad is the highlight though, his warm friendliness and hosting made sure that all the travellers in the hotel would connect with each other, exchange stories and even danced during the live music show he organized for us on Sunday evening. His recommendations were spot on and he took the time to bring some of us to special spots for Kopi Luwak and also to enjoy some incredible live music and dancing on Saturday night. This is a hidden gem in Yogyakarta. I am so glad I chose to stay here!

Everything was excellent. We stayed 2 nights in a family room because it was the only room left and it was huge, very clean, with a balcony overlooking rice fields. Shower and AC worked perfectly. Breakfast was simple but delicious (fruit juice, fresh fruit, cheese/egg & tomato toastie, tea). Filtered water was available to refill bottles. The owner and his Belgian friend helped us book tickets online for Borobodur & Prambanam, and also secured a driver. We were able to visit Prambanam before lunch, Borobodur after lunch, and also the two smaller Buddhist temples Pawon and Mendut. The hotel owner also booked a car to take us to the airport. We cannot recommend this hotel enough, superb service, including getting up early to give us breakfast. Would definitely stay again and stay for longer, this would be a nice place to unwind by the pool.

Our stay exceeded our expectations, which were already high! The room was so beautiful! We loved the outdoor shower and all the attention to details inside the room. The staff was so helpful in planning our activities and helped book outings. They couldn’t have been more helpful and their recommendations were so much fun! We did silver smithing and made rings, we made batik with the local master and had so much fun! Then there’s the food!! It was so delicious! It was so nice to have fresh vegetables while traveling thanks to their local garden and washing the veggies in their purified lab tested water. We ate breakfast and dinner here all three nights and we’re excited from their extensive menu of local produce and traditional offerings. Don’t hesitate to make the booking!! It was a highlight of our trip! We hope to come back and bring family!
