Set in Weetebula, 1.1 km from Mananga Aba Beach, Mario Hotel and Cafe offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a garden. Friendly staff, great service, good food and there's a beautiful quiet beach in front of the hotel.
Located in Waikelo, 2.9 km from Mananga Aba Beach, Maringi Sumba by Sumba Hospitality Foundation provides accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a bar. We spent four nights at Maringi Sumba at the end of our trip to Sumba, and it was a great experience. Being from a hospitality background, I was interested to see the Sumba Foundation setup and give some support to it. Our traditional bungalow room was really comfortable, and fun to stay in. Built and a designed to an excellent specification. Good standard of breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. And great cocktails!! I was really happy to be there, and it was great to see and meet such an enthusiastic bunch of students. Although some of them were nervous, they obviously love what they are doing. The other staff were great too. Together they make a fine team. Hopefully they will go on to play their part in the future of hospitality in Sumba.
Set in Rua, a few steps from Rua Beach, Rua Beach Resort Sumba offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Loved the staff as they did everything within their power to make our stay enjoyable. The place is beach front with white sand and an amazing 3 swimming pools, maybe over kill but better to have too many as apposed to too little. In a nice little neighbourhood with a (very) little shop out front selling drinks and chocolate but soon to be a Warung (restaurant) Food here is really good if not a little expensive compared to the rest of Indo but again, it's remote so suck it up and enjoy as you could be paying a whole lot more just 10 minutes away at Nihi Watu ($1,800 - $10,000 US a night) This place is definitely worth the trip to get here
Hotel Sinar was a disappointment. The standard rooms have no window. I moved to an ecpensive de luxe room. The aircon was noisy, you only had a blanket, no seperate sheet, bloody hot. The internet did not work.
The sea is very nice. The people like to see foreigners. It is a nice small city with a lot of traditional houses. We stayed in a nice hotel on the coast, the mario hotel. Its 12 km from the city. We went to some traditional villages and a nice lagune. We were there a few years ago when it was still pure natural, now it is more cultivated for the tourist. We hope they keep the garbage away from that area, we enjoyed to swim in the clear water.
