Breakfast was served each morning with amazing spread of traditional Irish breakfast. The hosts, John and Helena were absolutely amazing also James in the bar plus the rest of their friendly staff. The live music each evening was great and consisted of local talent in the area, which made for great entertainment. Overall, we loved our 6 nights stay at Danaghers and can’t wait to return in the fall. Highly recommend it and cannot thank the hosts enough for their amazing hospitality. We loved it! 😀🍀

Very welcoming and friendly, the room was clean. The breakfast was good, we got nice pieces of advice from the hosts who were very helpful. It is 5 minutes from Cong by car or 20 minutes by foot. It is very calm, we only heard sounds from the sheeps on the fields next to the house. A great stay !

Cong is a lovely village, very clean and tidy, traffic on a one way system, main route with lots of articulated lorries passing. But easy to navigate. As a big "The Quiet Man" fan I loved it, with tours and Museum and also Ashford Castle. Had dinner in Pat Cohan's great restaurant /pub with great staff. Local people are very friendly, would visit again

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friends

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to...

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.

Beautiful village.

Beautiful village. Probably one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. Lots to do and a good location for several excursions. The restaurants in the village were all good. The service and the food were exceptional. The boat trip on the Loch was amazing. If I were Irish, I would move to Cong. I have never felt so relaxed and at peace. If you are a Quiet Man movie fan, this is the place for you. It was an added bonus for me.

The property is located on the edge of the Ashford Castle estate within walking distance of Cong and Ashford Castle. We were supplied with breakfast items for day one which meant a lot. Sausages, bacon, Eggs, Milk and bread a pleasant surprise. We had arranged to meet Patricia at the local garage and she took us to the property. Good information on local amenities, taxis etc in the property and Patricia herself was warm, friendly and provided lots of advice. I would thoroughly recommend.

Salmon Weir Lodge offers the best accommodation in Cong. The Lodge is beautiful and has a stunning seating area by the Weir to enjoy in the good weather. The beds are extremely comfortable, rooms very spacious and the shower is perfect. Rachel puts on an amazing spread for breakfast, mixing it up every morning with freshly prepared baked goods, fruit, yogarts and so much more. A wonderful host, a delightful stay. We'll be sure to return and recommend Salmon Weir Lodge to our friends.

Beautiful location in Cong village and staff extremely helpful and welcoming ..food and facilities were very good, some running water issues with entire village but staff dealt with to their best abilities ( although went on a little late in our night for hotel maintenance ‘noise’).
