This is a stunning part of Donegal! Great day trips and incredible Irish music at a local pub called Leo's. We stayed 3 night and had great weather! We arrived for New Year so there were great pubs, great food and lots of music to keep us entertained.
I love Gweedore; I have visited many times but for short stays only. It is an authentic Irish place which has retained its traditional charm. We are a retired couple but there lots of activities & entertainment to suit all ages
Local hills and beaches are great for outdoor activities, weather allowing and are very scenic. Great again weather allowing for night sky watching and sunset watching or just letting time go by. Ideally you need a motor vehicle to get around as shops etc are not in general close by though you do see many people out cycling and the roads do not have pavements in places so you have to walk on the road. Most motorists are Ok but you do get the odd person who should not be allowed behind a steering wheel. The area near the coast is covered by holiday homes but go in land and you enter some stunning scenery the same applies to stretches of coast line. You also get a choice of eating establishments and supermarkets are dotted along the main roads.
Beautiful area .... very surprised there are not more tourists! Have traveled all over Ireland and this is probably the most scenic ... but certainly not the busiest. Drive around the well signposted 'Wild Atlantic Way' and don't be afraid to go down the small roads.....some amazing sights await you! Well worth a few days snooping around the area with high cliffs, beautiful unspoilt beaches and islands. Trip to Arranmore Island on the ferry is worthwhile and go across the island to the lighthouse to see the stunning coastline there.
It’s a quiet place. In the center of beautiful nature! The people are really friendly. They have a supermarket at the petrol station. They git a hostel where a lot of people can stay. The easiest way to get around is with a car. There’s a bus three times a day. There’re no restaurants. You can get breakfast and lunch at the supermarket at the petrolstation.
stayed here with a friend.. had the most amazing time! The views and location were incredible, exceeded my expectations. The guest house was clean and cosy. Good selection of breakfast in the morning. Moreen and Josephine were very welcoming and accommodating. Highlyyyy recommend, great value for money! Thank you!
