Located in Thomastown, 29 mi from Carlow, Ballyduff House provides a shared lounge and free WiFi. There is a private bathroom with bath in all units, along with a hairdryer and free toiletries. The house and grounds were beautiful. Right on the river. Our room was clean and comfortable. The owner was friendly and very helpful. The food was also very good. We would definitely stay here again.
Located in Thomastown, 25 mi from Carlow, The Tower House B&B provides a shared lounge and free WiFi. Clean, comfy bed and pillows, powerful hot shower. One of the best breakfast menus we have ever seen, such choice, amazing and delious. Other b&b's could learn a lot from these guys. Friendly owners who went out of their way to show us round and gave directions to best places to eat and shop. Will be back for sure.
The Stable, Bennettsbridge Kilkenny is located in Kilkenny, 7.5 mi from Kilkenny Castle and 7.5 mi from The Tholsel, in an area where hiking can be enjoyed. Gitte was very welcoming and explained the facilities. This is a rural property so plenty of walking around the area. We would return.
Boasting garden views, Woodstock Courtyard offers accommodations with a patio and a kettle, around 18 mi from Kilkenny Castle. Amazing place, with lots of charm and character. Such a beautiful setting and very relaxing. Loved all the amenities and fully equipped kitchen. Also appreciates our host who showed around the apartment and gave us a bit of history of the place. Awesome host!!!
Located 8.7 mi from Smithwick's Brewery Tour, Kellsborough Mill features accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. An absolutely beautiful setting. Our room was spotless and comfortable, I would have gladly stayed longer. Our hosts were very friendly. They had fresh eggs, milk and homemade brown bread (like I've never tasted before! It was gorgeous!) waiting for us. The bed was extremely comfortable and all the facilities were excellent! There was so many beautiful walks and things to see very close by! We were blessed with the weather too which made everything even better!
A charming old village with many wonderful coffee shops, curiosity stores and some lovely pubs. You get a sense of history in this small town. The walk to Inistoge (10km) is a joy if you are up to it. The Bridge Brooke Arms is a particularly beautiful pub with many warm and inviting rooms, and a beer garden to-boot! My son and I got a great kick from playing chess on their massive chess board.
Pretty historical town on river Favourite spots Jerpoint Abbey ruins Abbey House accomodation and local golf club Mt Juliet for dinner with great views over country side and excellent service and Championship quality round of golf
Jer Point Abbey, a must see. Take the tour, well worth the historical information. Highly recommend Abbey House for a nights lodging. Mount Juliet for golf and excellent dining and atmosphere.
Thomastown has lovely walks to offer by the river and surrounding areas. Stayed in Ballyduff House and it’s a hidden gem! Dined in Barrows Keep Restaurant and it has to be recommended, friendly service, fabulous food, busy place but very pleasant atmosphere 😊 We also visited Tim’s Bar and were served good bar food, very reasonably priced, by very friendly staff and they serve a good pint of Guinness too! Jerpoint Abbey is close by and it’s a very interesting historical site. Woodstock is close by and well worth a visit too.
It's a nice size town with enough facilities such as supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants, newsagent and gift shops. It also has it's fair share of historic spots in or very close to the town. It's definitely a good base to explore Kilkenny and Carlow especially if even Kilkenny city is too urban for you.
Lovely little village. Lots of nice areas to look at views. Tim's bar is lovely has a gorgeous beer garden at back. Food was fabulous service was great. Welcoming staff very friendly and courteous.
