Good hotel overall. Locally, we went to Vik Baths, very good experience. On our 10 day driving the Ring Road, we had already visited the Blue Lagoon. Vik Baths was an alternative to the Blue Lagoon, well worth visiting.
Small town, cannot say too much about it. We had here a stop and stayed at the Ormurrinn Cottages. Egilsstadir has everything you need to fill up for your road trip: supermarket & gas station ;-)
Practical location. A lot of to explore around the town. We were on a short travel and the weather was fine, so we didn't use a lot of services there. We are planning an other travel there because there are so much to do 😀
The biggest town in East Iceland is definitely worth passing through. It's a great place to stock up on groceries and gas. The people in the town are extremely friendly and want to ensure the travelers passing through are enjoying themselves.
We were stuck in this village and the hostess help us out with great behaviour and spirit. We were super welcome and they try to make our stay easier in every sense. Thanks in deed for all your help. We strongly recommend stay in such an amazing place with great views and marvellous people
Hiking around the area is great and we had beautiful fall colors. We saw the Northern lights just outside of town. Asker bar was a blast with beer bingo and the hostel in town has a great little bar cafe that shows Icelandic music videos on a big screen.
Egilsstaðir
Cute little hotel/hostel - with a well equipped kitchen. It is maybe a bit small when there are a lot of people in the summer I imagine. We were ok in November as there weren't too many people. Living room is cosy and bathrooms are clean. The room maybe a little small. Good base for trips but not much to do in Egilstadir
Egilsstaðir
Adorable little cabin with a kitchen containing everything needed to cook some basic meals. Comfy bed and nice bathroom. Everything was very clean. Best of all, the location was remote enough for us to see the Northern Lights the first week in September!
The hotel is lakeside and offers a fabulous backdrop with mountains and the lake. The rooms were very clean and modern, although not very roomy. We ate dinner in the restaurant and were very happy to have done so. The included breakfast was very well done.
Egilsstaðir

Amazing hotel. Loved the layout with each room opening to the outside. So peaceful, quiet and beautiful. I wish we could have stayed two nights.
