Berjaya Hérað Hotel is located in Egilsstadir, 3.1 mi from Lagarfljot River. It offers a terrace bar and 24-hour room service. All rooms have Wi-Fi, satellite TV and wooden floors. The most elaborate offerings for breakfast, variety, freshness, hot and cold items. Even fried eggs and bacon!
This family-run hotel enjoys a countryside location by Road 93, overlooking central Egilsstadir, 1.2 mi away. Free WiFi access in the lobby and garden views can be enjoyed. A great secluded hotel accommodation just slightly off the main road, and a few minutes drive from Egilsstaðir and very close to the start of Route 93 towards Seyðisfjörður Staff were very friendly, and the common facilities [WC | Breakfast Buffet | Hot Tubs] were clean and readily accessible. Additional towels and bath robes available on request. Very attractive lounge with a balcony available at all times near the reception desk. The cabins were very cozy and compact, with sink + stove | dining table | bed | couch all in one area, then narrow bathroom off to the side. The hotel is in a prime location for Northern Lights viewing as well. I would recommend walking past the reception area and parking to the small gravel road leading down to the secluded house, and setting up there along the road. If preferring other locations for viewing, there are numerous parking spots on Route 93 as well, which are far enough from the town where light pollution isn't much of a concern.
Tehúsið Hostel has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Egilsstaðir. 21 miles from Hengifoss and 15 miles from Gufu Waterfall, the hostel provides ski storage space. Great community and vibe. Everyone was friendly there- the staff, other guests, visitors. I really appreciated that they had many vegan food options as well!

Small town, cannot say too much about it. We had here a stop and stayed at the Ormurrinn Cottages. Egilsstadir has everything you need to fill up for your road trip: supermarket & gas station ;-)
Practical location. A lot of to explore around the town. We were on a short travel and the weather was fine, so we didn't use a lot of services there. We are planning an other travel there because there are so much to do 😀
The biggest town in East Iceland is definitely worth passing through. It's a great place to stock up on groceries and gas. The people in the town are extremely friendly and want to ensure the travelers passing through are enjoying themselves.
We were stuck in this village and the hostess help us out with great behaviour and spirit. We were super welcome and they try to make our stay easier in every sense. Thanks in deed for all your help. We strongly recommend stay in such an amazing place with great views and marvellous people
Hiking around the area is great and we had beautiful fall colors. We saw the Northern lights just outside of town. Asker bar was a blast with beer bingo and the hostel in town has a great little bar cafe that shows Icelandic music videos on a big screen.
Great town in Eastern Iceland. A nice surprise. Salt cafe was delicious for lunch (pizza, salads, coffee, and pastries). Dinner at the Askur pizzeria and brewery was amazing. Close to Hengifoss (waterfall). A rewarding uphill (but doable) hike to see the falls. Waterfall closer to town (Fardagafoss) - short hike. Lots of stores and gas stations.
Lockbox for keys for easy access, quiet location with great lake views but still close to the main roads. Short 5-7min drive to Vok Baths and everything you need to cook your own dinner and enjoy while looking at beautiful scenery. Can open windows and get great cross breeze into the cottage. For some reason, other hotels (although not cottages) we stayed at all over Iceland during out trip just lacked air ventilation...Would book again.
Location was great, not far outside of Egilsstadir, very quiet location and easy to find. The house was cozy and the kids loved sleeping up in the loft. The hosts were quick to respond to questions (we couldn't figure out how to unlock the stovetop). The amount of space for our family of 5 was perfect.
we loved everything about the place and location and if you look for a quite stay in a not so typical islandic forest, we recommend this highly for everyone. get your food supplies in Egilsstadir and then enjoy the comfort of a very spacious and cozy apartment equipped with all you need.
A nice spacious house with views, very quiet but within quick reach by car to Egilsstadir. Comfortable beds, hot tub, one bathroom. We were 7 people and another bathroom could have helped. In all, we liked the place very much.
We liked everything in this little hotel. Sippa was a really truly host. The staff is so friendly. The view of our room was stunning. We woke up with the birds singing. It was lovely! Breakfast was amazing. Great location.
The hotel was fair. Breakfast was nice and so were the soaps in the bathroom. There was one staff member of the cleaning staff who was extremely nice and tried to help us switch rooms.
This was by far the best place we stayed at during our vacation. Breakfast was fantastic, room was clean and comfortable, and it was in a beautiful location.
Before we stayed at Edda in Hofn and I don't want to say Edda Egilsstadir was a big disappointment, but definitely was below the quality we got in Hofn.
What did I like? You are a hotel and I regret not sleeping in my car instead, so excuse me for not bothering to find anything positive.
Only 4star hotel in the area. Hotel uses the L’Occitane toiletries, very impressive. Nice restaurant in the hotel and also around.
Great place with great facilities near the beutifull lake. Best value
Best hotel breakfast we had on our entire tour of Iceland
