It’s an isolated farm, you ll have to drive 30k on gravel out of the ring road. But still beautiful. Please watch the weather reports, if it’s stormy or snowy don’t go you r gonna have difficulty on the road and won’t be able to enjoy the beautiful nature. Staff and people are great though

This was one of our favorite places we stayed on our Iceland road trip! I was joined by my husband and two kids, ages 9 and 10. The place was super clean, very spacious, private, and had everything we needed. I loved all the beautiful lupines surrounding the property and the location was perfectly situated, far enough away from town to feel at peace and relaxed, but also close enough to get groceries or spend time in town. Thank you for an amazing stay!!

The house was extremely charming and the owner very nice. Our teenagers loved interacting with all of the animals on the property. We loved using the hot tub at night and watching the setting sun change the color of the beautiful views!
There is so much to do here, using Egilsstadir as a base.
There is so much to do here, using Egilsstadir as a base. An absolute MUST is a soak in the VÖK Baths, a mere 2km out of town.
Day trips out to the Puffin colony at Bakkafjördur, or the very cute harbour town of Seydisfjordur, for example. A trip around to Hallormsstadur as well as further day trips north are next on our list.
We had great wood-fired pizza at Askur Pizzeria and brilliant coffees at Tehusia Hostel, which had a great buzz-y vibe.

An unusual place to be sure.
An unusual place to be sure. Not too "in yer face" , nor up it's own pipe. Just about right. Superb geolocation. Car necessary to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer. Highly recommend to independent traveller.

This was a great stopping point after driving the eastern Fjords on a Sunday. They had a couple places that were open where we could eat, get gas and groceries. This town was a nice place to stay after driving through many of the lovely villages along the coast and before heading to Husavik. You're also close to Hengifoss and not far from Studlagil Canyon, though we only drove halfway down the road before we gt nervous with the icy road right on the side of a cliff.

We loved the tourist info center there along the lake with the Gunnar Gunnerson museum and restaurant. We had a great buffet meal there. We enjoyed the tourist rest area because the lady there spent time with us as we looked around at the exhibits. It was an unexpected surprise.

Good hotel overall.
Good hotel overall.
Locally, we went to Vik Baths, very good experience.
On our 10 day driving the Ring Road, we had already visited the Blue Lagoon. Vik Baths was an alternative to the Blue Lagoon, well worth visiting.
Very nice small luxury hotel in the woods south of Egilsstadir with views of the lake from the outdoor hot tubs and restaurant. The two hot tubs have a very pleasant temperature. Bathrobe and slippers were offered for free. Spacious, modern and stylish ground-floor rooms with terrace, a small table and desk.
Excellent breakfast, they even prepared fresh waffles and pancakes. Dinner was also great and freshly prepared in the open kitchen.
Very cosy hotel with nice and comfortable room. Great ambience in the hotel lobby that comes with a nice snowy view in winter was exceptionally nice to hang out. Our room faces the town. Staff were helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was the best part of the hotel. The staff at the breakfast was friendly and attentive.
The people at the reception weren't unfriendly, but quite neutral.
