Featuring a subterranean spa, a geothermal lagoon and a restaurant that re-imagines Iceland’s culinary traditions, this 62-suite luxury hotel is encircled by the Blue Lagoon’s mineral-rich waters. The blue lagoon is amazing and beautiful, the hotel has private way to go there and it is very warm. Custom service was very good.
Located 5 miles from Blue Lagoon, Sunnu Private room near the Blue Lagoon / Airport provides accommodations with a shared lounge, a garden and a shared kitchen for your convenience. Cosy, comfortable, clean and in a great location. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, offering full use of their kitchen and free tea / coffee! Will visit again!
Harbour View Cottages Grindavik has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Grindavík, 5 miles from Blue Lagoon. Very easy and stress free checkin and checkout system with the code box. Great view and design. Very comfortable bed and shower, hot water seems to be natural thermal spring.
Just a 10-minute drive from Blue Lagoon, Mar Guest house offers self-service accommodations in Grindavík. Guests have access to a shared kitchen and garden. Free WiFi is available. The place is new. Very clean & quiet. Bed is very comfortable. The person I communicate with (Silki) whom we've never met. He seems nice and always reply promptly. Self check-in and check-out . It was very convenient, quick and easy. It's by the harbour. I will recommend to anyone who like to stay near the Blue Lagoon. The restaurant nearby ( Papa's Pizza) is really accommodating. Got there 10 minutes to closing, we were still being served. And the food is very good.
This family-run property provides free Wi-Fi, parking and tea/coffee. Relaxation options include a TV lounge, furnished terrace and garden. The Blue Lagoon is within 5 minutes’ drive. Very comfortable bedroom in a charming home with a very friendly hostess. Kitchen was set up to make our own breakfast (food provided) as we had to leave quite early for airport in the morning, worked very well, easy drive to airport. We were there in summer but would also be cozy in winter as there was a lovely sitting room available had we needed it.
Located in Njarðvík, Cozy & Quiet offers accommodations with free WiFi and access to a terrace with a barbecue. The units have a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a fridge. Very comfy accomodation, closed to the Blue Lagoon. The owner was an extremely nice lady. Breakfast was excellent, from the fridge we could choose everything we wanted (ham, juice, cheese, various fruits etc.) plus we offered an excellent home made cream pie with fruit, which was a real taste experience :-) We are very pleased to have stayed here and in the future we must stay longer to enjoy our stay!
We arrived just before a Bomb Cyclone hit the area and closed the roads. As Australians, we loved the ice and snow but it did slow down and hinder some of our short 4 day stay. We will just have to return and do some more exploring of the country.
This was our ninth trip to Iceland, and over the years we've spent more time at the front end or back end of the trip hiking and exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula. From Gardur to Grindavik, these towns are friendly, situated in/near beautiful areas of the peninsula. Grindavik borders on the natural resources area, which we've begun to explore, and Geo Hotel was a modern, clean, and friendly place to stay. We will stay there again.
The hotel was just great. The only issue was a sulfur like odor emitted from the geothermal plant nearby. It smells like rotten eggs depending on the direction of the wind. It’s not terrible when you know exactly what it is. The location was fabulous. There is a choice of a free shuttle to the Blue Lagoon or an easy walking path. Very convenient location.
I used tour service to see places, I didn’t want to drive; I’m officially on vaca statues after every conference what not. Professionalism is top notch. I like how they think like human. ( yes it’s a ting)They accommodate people like a person. If u’re late ( u shouldn’t) but they will try their best, to help. Very sincere:) thank you!
Very small old fishing village, small town with very friendly locals. There is a camping area in town, one grocery store and every place is within walking distance. This is the closest town to the famous Blue Lagoon.
This area has amazing views and little areas you can sneak off to in order to explore. The town had quite a few options for dining and just a short drive away are gorgeous views and great hikes. In the middle of everything and a perfect place to stay.
The hotel is so cozy with several rooms set aside for commingling with other guests and observing the truly unique landscape surrounding the hotel. It is located less than 10 minutes from the blue lagoon which was so convenient. The bathrooms are smaller than in the states but manageable. The chef prepares a Sunday roast and actually brings her family to the hotel restaurant in order to be together. It felt like staying with family instead of a random hotel. I highly recommend staying here!
Clean, comfortable guesthouse for a fitful rest after a trip to the Blue Lagoon on our first night in Iceland. Björk greeted us warmly and gave us lots of helpful information for our trip. Bed was warm and very comfortable. Shared bath and kitchen were clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was an added bonus, as was a shared lounge area. We also enjoyed seeing the scenic coast and some of its natural and cultural sites.
The beds were a little firm but ok. The kitchenette area in our room had a decent amount of items if you wanted to prepare food. The restroom was in our room and pretty large. The water pressure was great. The town of Grindavik is cute with a few restaurants in the area and a convenience store/gas station. We were able to drive about 5 minutes away and see the northern lights. The blue lagoon is only about 15 minutes away.
Best shower in any hotel. Friendly Staff trying to please. Gorgeous lobby and architecture, food is excellent including a breakfast like no other in Iceland and a very good dining, the Michelin star restaurant Moss. Room views and space is good. Of course Spa and Lagoon are relaxing.
The cottages were great, check in was easy via lockbox with emailed code. Parking was close, local restaurants were great too. Well equipped, fast wifi (faster than our business hotel in Reykjavík) Great view of the harbour. Very very good value.
10min drive from the blue lagoon and quite easy to go there. That was the only reason we sleep in Grindavík :-)
Conveniently located in Grindavik 20 minute drive from Keflavik Airport, late check-in without any problems.
