I feel like Húsavík is an upscale but authentic Icelandic town with a lot to do packed into a small space. I loved everywhere I went, but Húsavík gets my vote for my very favorite town. The town is cute and neatly laid out, bustling but not overcrowded, and the restaurants and whale museum are great. Nearby Reykjalith at Myvatn was also amazing. Be sure to go there and do everything in the area, including visiting Dettifoss, the largest waterfall in all Europe. I saw whales in Húsavík, then Dettifoss, then went to the nearby laguna / hotsprings at night, then saw the Northern lights for the first time right before I went back into Húsavík.
Husavik was the most beautiful town I visited in Iceland. It's quaint and serene. Whale watching was successful! I would have liked to spend more time in Husavik. It's a good place to restock grocery supplies if driving around Iceland.
Husavik was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. It’s a delightful small port in an incredible location with plenty to see and do. I’d recommend the Salka whale watching, the whale museum, Naustid restaurant, Port Guesthouse and the Ásbyrgi canyon. All wonderful, can’t wait to go back!
The highlight for us in Husavik was the whale watching. There are several to choose from, depending on what kind of experience you want. Go with the largest and best if this is your first time. Others offer a smaller craft and can go closer in, but may be less informative. Husavik has a wonderful harborside with great restaurants facing the water with so much to see. Husavik also is a perfect location to bounce down to Lake Myvatn and the "Blue Lagoon of the North"... lots less expensive, more beautiful surroundings and no reservations required.
It's a tiny, small, Icelandic Harbor, Husavik, but it's packed with things to do. Lovely surrounds. I've been through the West Fjords, the West Country, the South and Reykjavik and really loved being this far north. It is well worth renting a car and driving. Hot Springs, farmer's market, local, fresh fish, lovely people and quaint places make this a real MUST STOP in Iceland. I give this area, and I am from New England, a definitive 5 star.
Excellent whale museum - a must see - even if you don't go on a whale watching tour. Very walkable. Lovely harbour. Wish we had another day to see a few more things - the fossils and the hot tub.

We traveled around Iceland for 10 days and this place was our favorite place we stayed! So cute and comfortable and the staff was amazing, the owner took the time to talk to us and give us suggestions for where to eat and what to do around Húsavík. We stayed at the guesthouse 2 days and it was such a relaxing addition to our trip. The restaurant across the street is amazing and the coffee shop and bakery down the street is delicious! We highly recommend this guesthouse, it is a gem!

Stefan is such a friendly host. This house is good for big group of around 8 and is very homely, well equipped (ie. kitchen, laundry, even board games, etc) with an almost brand new bathroom. Around 8km from main town of Husavik (less than 10 mins leisurely drive). The sea view is great.

A lovely view of the fjord, very well equipped, spacious, great TV access, wonderful to have the washing machine (though a note about plugging it in and turning on the water would have been helpful).
