The amazing location of Hotel Skaftafell provides guests with stunning views of Iceland's highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjukur and the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. Lovely people at this very clean hotel situated strategically a 10-40 minutes drive from great waterfalls and icebergs. Just a 15 minutes walk behind the hotel is a Svinafellsjökull Iceberg. We stayed two nights in the beginning of April and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. The food is excellent, both breakfast buffet and dinner. Highly recommended!
The Potato Storage is offering accommodations in Svínafell, with free WiFi and free private parking. All guest rooms in the motel are fitted with a kettle. We were met right as we pulled up by the owner. She is so welcoming and friendly! The facility is flawless. It is so beautiful and cozy. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Set next to Hof turf church, this hotel offers an on-site restaurant and free WiFi. Skaftafell National Park is 15 minutes' drive away from the hotel. Cape of Ingolfshöfdi is 1.9 mi away. The location was a starring point. Overall cozy and just nice.
Located in Hof, Litla-Hof Guesthouse provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a shared lounge, a garden and a terrace. Completly soaking wet after a long motorcycle ride, i was made most welcome in this warm, dry accommodation in stunning surroundings.
Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon offers luxurious accommodations in Hnappavellir. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant and hotel bar. Near awesome glacier activities, lovely bar/lounge area, restaurant food was great and hot tubs/sauna were great to use

With unspoiled views towards the Vatnajökull Glacier, this countryside guest house is 16 mi from Kirkjubæjarklaustur village. We stayed here one night between destinations on an Iceland road trip in winter. We got in when it was dark and left early in the morning after a lot of overnight snow, so we didn't get to see how beautiful the property was. However, it was comfortable and covered everything we needed, plus complimentary waffles.
Close to the Skaftafell National Park which has incredible walks for all abilities. The hotel was a good stopping off point on our round the island trip. There is a filling station and diner opposite the hotel. Behind the hotel is a track which leads right up to Svinasfell glacier.
Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
Recommend the hikes and views in the national park. Waterfalls were stunning. The hike to Svartifoss is very steep up hill but the views are worth it. Also recommend travelling onto the glacial lagoon which was just stunning.
We would recommend this hotel due to location but we would also tell others to take more food so they do not have to eat at the gas station. The hotel restaurant was severely over priced. The front staff were not as friendly as we have had with other properties.
Too many tourists here. Drive a few miles further, and explore the beautiful landscape from there, with the help of a good travel guide, like the one from Lonely Planet. Never mind missing the waterfalls. Better and bigger waterfalls can be seen further north, without crowds of people. And beware: The entry to this site is video-controlled to enforce the parking charge, which is hefty. Have not seen this anywhere else in Iceland. Avoid this place, you are not missing much.
Location exceptional. Very well run hotel with comfortable accommodation.
