These hotels in Arezzo are highly rated by couples: Badia di Pomaio, Chimera Tuscany Resort, and Hotel Le Capanne.
Arezzo is highly under-rated. They have a city wide antique market and many antique shops that I highly recommend. Arezzo is a fantastic base to go to Cortona, Siena, Perugia, and many other Hill towns. It's Ideal to spend 4 or 5 days in Arezzo and do day trips to the other Hill towns, because Arezzo is less expensive and you don't lose half the day checking into a bunch of different hotels. I've learned in my many trips to Italy that it's less exhausting to pick a region or two, and then pick a base city within each region, and do day trips to the places you want to visit instead trying to travel each day and stay overnight. You tire yourself out and lose too much time. It's also more expensive. Remember, most of the Hill towns can be completely walked to where you can see everything in 2 1/2 to 5 hrs each -- so Arezzo is great for south east Tuscany and the northern part of Umbria. Arezzo is also very compact, and if you are staying in the city center, the walk to the bus and train stations are usually no more than 5 minutes away. Arezzo is great.
I had never visited Arezzo and I plan to return to this beautiful an historic city. I can't compare it to Florence but the renaissance beauty of Arezzo is breath taking. Also the area surrounding Arezzo is full of places to see...Cortona, Perugia and not far Assisi. Lower Tuscany and Umbria are real tourist treats of Italy
A beautiful historic town ideal for exploring on foot and not mobbed by tourists so you can actually enjoy it. Delicious restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. Book ahead with some venues as they are popular with the locals.
We loved Arezzo… Just a shame we didn’t have more time to spend here in this gorgeous place! It was such an experience to wander around the streets and visit the many attractions this place has to offer… We will certainly be back!
Very nice Etruscan city with nice gourmet and wine shops, specialties from the region and many museums and cathedrals. The piazza Grande has couple of antic stores with old leather and metal works, restaurants. I also found out while being there that Arezzo was the birth place of Petrarca - famous italian poet and considered the first humanist.
There are far more attractive and typical Tuscan towns than this one. It was crowded with traffic and teenagers, I wouldn’t recommend a visit - frescos or no frescos... One of the least friendly places that we have been in Italy. At a time of Covid-19 restrictions, you would think that mask wearing and social distancing would be the norm, you would be wrong. I did not feel safe.
Arezzo
We had a very pleasant time at Cuprena ! The property is located at 15 minutes from Arezzo in a very quiet place The hotel is very clean and beautiful with a great pool The breakfast is delicious with fruits and vegetables coming from Cuprena’s garden - if you have the opportunity to try the restaurant, it is very enjoyable with classic Tuscan and fusion food, including a great wine list - it is particularly great value for money The staff is very kind and always helpful
Location in historic centre of Arezzo. Huge quiet room with frescoed ceiling. Hig quality large shower plus separate bath in the room and 2 basins. Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable. Made excellent restaurant recommendations. Organised parking for car with paid valet service. Quirky design with mix of modern and old fashioned italian style.

The accommodation is located in the historic center of Arezzo, where parking is not possible. But the host provided information about where to find (free) parking and even picked us up from the parking lot (about 700 m away). For breakfast (which was not possible on site because of corona regulations) we received a voucher for a bar nearby.
