Very nice Etruscan city with nice gourmet and wine shops, specialties from the region and many museums and cathedrals. The piazza Grande has couple of antic stores with old leather and metal works, restaurants. I also found out while being there that Arezzo was the birth place of Petrarca - famous italian poet and considered the first humanist.
There are far more attractive and typical Tuscan towns than this one. It was crowded with traffic and teenagers, I wouldn’t recommend a visit - frescos or no frescos... One of the least friendly places that we have been in Italy. At a time of Covid-19 restrictions, you would think that mask wearing and social distancing would be the norm, you would be wrong. I did not feel safe.
Fantastic Tuscan town. Not the usual tourist trap kind of place that you get a lot in Tuscany. Beautiful antiques markets takes over the town every first Sunday of the month and it is worth going just for that even though there are lots more to see in Arezzo. The amazing fresco cycle by PIero della Francesca is also a must-see and it well organised and is free the first Sunday of the month. So it is a god excuse to see the frescoes and the market.
The perfect-sized town for a quiet get-away vacation, with lovely churches and neat, modern shops and restaurants! The architecture is interesting with medieval aspects. The countryside is gorgeous with rolling hills, beautiful houses and trees. The people in the town are friendly. The town is easily walk-able for people with strong knees and hips, but I don't recommend it for people with walking issues. The streets are all cobblestone, and you're either going uphill or downhill!
A beautiful city centre, historical sites located close by in walking distance from station, good cuisine except for the Japanese restaurant where the food was not fresh, nice people and unassuming cool shops for fashion. Lovely shop for terracotta souvenirs in Piazza Vasali. Stayed at the wonderful Bella di Ceciliano accommodation. If we had managed to secure a car we would have seen much more.
Arezzo a once beautiful medieval town now has a lot of grafitti, which surprised us. Good parking to town, plenty of historic areas to view, we enjoyed the clock tower with fantastic views. Many restaurants and bars around, eating outside is OK apart from smokers whilst dining. good market on a Monday. Enjoyable.
Arezzo
Wonderful welcome from Elena who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay. She helped us get tickets for the Giostra, secured us places at the pre-giostra dinner, and couldn't have been more helpful generally. The hotel is ideally located 5 mins from the station, next door to a big supermarket, and has a wonderful roof terrace with lovely views over Arezzo old town. You can also use the kitchen and fridge to make and store your own food, and then eat outside on the roof terrace. It's a terrific place.
Arezzo
We had a very pleasant time at Cuprena ! The property is located at 15 minutes from Arezzo in a very quiet place The hotel is very clean and beautiful with a great pool The breakfast is delicious with fruits and vegetables coming from Cuprena’s garden - if you have the opportunity to try the restaurant, it is very enjoyable with classic Tuscan and fusion food, including a great wine list - it is particularly great value for money The staff is very kind and always helpful
Good hotel a bit outside of the Old City Center, but the center can be reached by foot in around 20 minutes. Hotel is quite old fashioned, but clean and comfortable. We had a Superior room which was spacious, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was nice including some organic items as jam, chia seeds and gojji beeries which is quite rare to find in hotels in Italy. Free parking around the hotel is also available.
Arezzo
Everything! Our host, Maurizio, was very welcoming and helpful. He gave us a ride from the station when we arrived, which was very much appreciated. The location is great, near the center of the old town, and Arezzo itself is a great place to stay. The facilities are spacious, comfortable and well maintained. Everything worked as well or better than expected.
The location of the hotel is perfect - very close to nice restaurants, located on the main shopping street of Arezzo and only a couple of minutes away from the train station and the main sights. The staff was always very friendly. Usual Italian breakfast and as a great addition your coffee choice (cappucino etc.) was prepared on demand.
The staff is first rate at this budget friendly modest hotel. Rosetta is a kind and generous hostess. The place has a nice historic feel to it being a converted monastery. The location couldn’t be more perfect, set in the old town with minute walks to all the sites you would want to see in Arezzo.
Very helpful stuff. Great breakfast with plenty of fruits. Comfortable rooms and beds. Clean and well equipped bathrooms. WiFi and the air conditioning were working well. Parking is just in front of the hotel building, but it gets crowded in the evening.
Location to city center and park where antique market is. Jessica, who runs all aspects of the hotel, made sure we had everything we needed, helped us with dinner reservations and was so friendly! We felt so welcome! Very clean and spacious rooms.
The breakfast was amazing! The hotel was beautiful on the inside. It felt like I was staying in a place for rich people but not having to pay a crazy amount. They were very helpful. Pretty view from the top of the building.
