We discovered that Bronte is not a walkable town, not a place that can be easily explored on foot like the many other Sicilian towns we visited. The hills are very steep, there are no sidewalks and there are no taxis in Bronte. I can’t emphasize that enough… no taxis in Bronte! The bus and train do not run on Sundays, so if you don’t have a car and are scheduled to depart on a Sunday, you will be stranded or will have to pay big money for a driver to come get you (our experience). We booked three months ago for the pistacchio festa.
We booked three months ago for the pistacchio festa. Shortly before we arrived we learned the festival had been moved to a later date. We were unable yo change our plans. If you’re not there for the festival, there’s no reason to go there. There are no taxis in Bronte.

Also that the room had a heater to have warm temperature und dry clothes (a lot of other rooms in sicily are very cold in this season). The unlimited hot shower was also great in this season. (other rooms in sicily had just 30 seconds hot water). Breakfast was great in a hotel nearby. The host where very helpful, flexible und extremly friendly.

Lovely welcome from the hosts (who do not live on-site) and their cats. Hot croissants delivered each day at 8 a.m. Other (free) packaged breakfast items are generously provided. We liked the nearby restaurant "Morgana" (5 minutes away by car).

Really looked after me when my flight was delayed and diverted because of the eruption, so I arrived around 4am which he stayed up to welcome me and provided me with great food and drinks.
