With a large outdoor pool and panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside, Podere Benintendi offers free Wi-Fi and air conditioned rooms. Bike rental is available. This facility is on top of a hill offering beautiful views, a nice pool, a garden with lots of aromatic plants and olive trees. The breakfast is various and fresh. We choose to eat outside because of the view. One evening we had a lovely italian dinner with good food and proseco. I can only recomand this place and hope that we will come back soon.
Less than a 10-minute walk from Palazzo Pretorio, Casa Gori is located in the center of Certaldo. Offering free Wi-Fi and free bike rental, the property is only 328 feet from Certaldo Train Station. We had a great stay at Casa Gori! The b&b has a nice rustic Italian vibe. The owner, Mr. Gori, is a kind and helpful host. Breakfast is served in various cafes in close proximity to the b&b with typical Italian coffee and croissants. Overall we recommend Casa Gori for everyone who plans to visit Tuscany.
We stayed only one night in Certaldo which was probably too short.. The Covid pandemic was happening whilst we were there, which meant it wasn't overly busy. In fact I would call it peaceful. It's a lovely old town with plenty of good places to enjoy the best if the local cuisine. It also has a Fernicular train to take you down to the more modern town down the hill. There are panaramic views across the beautiful Tuscan landscape as far as San Gimignano, and also plenty of interesting views of the town as you wander the back streets. It may not be so peaceful next time, but I am sure that we will return.
Has a famous walled town at the top of the hill connected via a funicular, or bus. Excellent train connections make it a central point for Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Sienna and San Giminiano. Lots of eating places and an excellent Cafe outside the train station
We all ( 7 family groups ) used the main supermarket for our groceries but made the train station café as our meeting place. Prices were good and staff were friendly and helpful. Having a train station made travelling to Florence / Sienna so much better than by car especially with children. Certaldo Alto was interesting but sitting with coffee and cakes overlooking the stunning Tuscany countryside - not to be missed.
Certaldo Alto is an amazing town - an old town, built on a rock, above the newer Certaldo. It isn't massively touristy or over-commercialised (like San Gimingnano) and therefore not full of "tat shops" and leather shops. There are not people standing outside their restaurants trying to usher you in to eat. This is a proper "old world" town - unchanged and unspoilt. It still has a proper medieval feel to it - and is fabulous. Buy a ticket at the castle and visit all four museums in Certaldo (for about 4 euros for everything) - it really is worth it. There is far more to the museums that you would imagine. Go to Boccaccia's house - and make sure you climb the tower for the incredible views. Visit the two ladies working in the ceramics gallery - see them painting their pottery - and have a look in the studio/shop at their beautiful things! The bird life and bird song was lovely - especially early morning. Great to see so many swifts and swallows darting about everywhere! This is a very central location, but you do need a car! Easy to get to Monteriggioni, Montepulchiano, Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena, Greve in Chianti, Volterra - even to places on the coast like Cecina or Livorno. This is a really good central location. There are a few restaurants in Certaldo Alto (where we stayed) and they are really good. There are also a couple of Gelateria's - also excellent. If you like to feel you are somewhere authentic that hasn't yet been spoiled by tourism, this is a great little place to stay!
We where going for a little quiet town whith a medieval town, and that what's we got. Nice and friendly people. They appreciate when I try to practice my simple italian, and become extra velcoming when they know that we came from Norway. Easy to reach other cities in the middle of Toscana.
Old city of Certaldo is a perfect place to stay if you are a bit tired of big cities and noise. It’s difficult to describe how evenings in Certaldo are cozy and calm.Very nice restaurants with amazingly tasty food.Easy access ia train to Sienna and Florence, 50 just minutes away.
As soon as you enter Certaldo Alto, this wonderful fairy tale begins. The village is as authentic as can be, the accommodation fits seamlessly into it. Owner Sasha is like all the other villagers, friendly and helpful. The rooms of her accommodation are atmospheric and fully equipped, the breakfast is very extensive. It is a great base for exploring the area, Antica Torre del Borgo added the max value to our Tuscan roadtrip. Loved it!!
Casa di Giso is very nice place in the middle of Tuscan countryside. The flat is nicely furnished and equipped with everything you need for both short and long-term stays. Recommended to everyone who prefers countryside (with all that it brings) to hustle bustle of the city. Windows are fitted with moskyto nets! If you do not want take your car all the time, Florence is also reachable by a 50-min train from nearby town Certaldo.
Fantastic views, especially from the yard and the pool. Quiet and relaxing. Traditional agriturismo in the middle of the Tuscan hills and its amazing landscapes. The hosts are friendly and kind. Perfect location: off the main roads but centrally located for every tourist destination we wanted to reach within 1h (Certaldo, San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Firenze, Chianti valley, etc.). Pisa and Lucca in 1h20; still good for us.
Tenuta di Sticciano is a perfect getaway in the Tuscany hills. The location is beautiful, the staff very friendly and considerate. We have absolutely enjoyed exploring the surroundings and relaxing with a wine tasting in the garden overlooking the vineyards.
Lovely, quiet place. Great swimming pool. Very clean. Staff very friendly, our plane departed late in afternoon, so they offered a late checkout. We wish to come back! 10-15 minutes by car to the village of Certaldo. Certaldo alto is beautiful!
Location is great: you are a few mtrs from Certaldo station and the cablecar that brings you up in the medieval town. Room is pretty bog, very clean and spacious. Details of decor might seem a bit outdated but this doesn't influence your stay
Wonderful quiet place with great hosts in the middle of the Tuscan vineyards and within walking distance of Certaldo Alto (very beautiful old town of Certaldo with no cars and lots of restaurants). We enjoyed our stay so much!
Excellent location in the old section of Certaldo near great restaurants and bistros. This was our second trip to Certaldo Alto. We love walking the narrow streets and speaking to the local residents.
Il Paluffo is a very nice place to stay in Tuscany. Great view and we loved the pool and the breakfast. Florence ja easy to reach by car and there are nice villages and restaurants near by.
We loved the family vibes and the 360 views of Tuscany! The family that runs this place is really kind and helpful, they made us feel relaxed and gave us space to enjoy the grounds.
We really liked the super friendly and helpful staff. The hotel and room were very clean. We really enjoyed the pool even if it’s a bit small and can’t accommodate many people.
Very close to Certaldo historic center. Just a 10 min steep walk. Nice location, curious old Italian palace and really nice couple.
Beautiful little town, Gorgeous hotel. Excellent staff
