Beautiful location. Terrific hiking. Weather the day I arrived and day left were poor - and entire area shuts down. 3 of the four major hikes not available. Lots of tourists especially large groups made some towns unbearably crowded.
I live in the US and have traveled through the states, to the Caribbean, Indonesia, and Germany so I am somewhat traveled (for context). I think Manarola, and the Cinque Terre region, is the most picturesque place I've ever been. There's also the conveniences of everyday life (groceries, restaurants, good hotels, trains, etc) which is unique for a place so remote and beautiful. Great area for hiking, relaxing, eating, drinking, and swimming - though, there are many nicer areas for beach bums in Italy. There are a lot of crowds mid-day and the trains get packed, so if you aren't into public transit this may stress you out. Overall, one of my favorite places I've ever been and I can't wait to go back.
Even in mid October there were a lot of people. The restaurant on the right when you get to the water, Marina Piccolo (Michelin Star) was excellent for lunch. Small village and doable without staying the night. Better than Riomaggiore I thought.
Manarola was was not as crowded as the other towns in Cinque Terre. Dining options were plentiful and many had wonderful views. Manarola has one main town road with shops and restaurants and was wide enough to not feel too crowded unlike some of the other towns.
The Cinque Terre area can be confusing. If you stay here you can stay in a hotel in one town and easily visit the others by taking the local train or some of the hikes. The towns are about a 10 minute train ride from each other, all very close by. Do not bring a lot of luggage, the hotels are small and the roads can be steep, and the trains don't have much room for luggage. It's a great place to spend a few days and hike and explore and enjoy. Many of the trails were washed out but there are still some that you can hike. They can be very steep, like the trail from Manarola to Volastre and on to Corniglia. I advise doing it that way and avoiding the descent from Volastre to Manarola. The stone steps are crazy steep. You can catch a train in Corniglia back to Manarola or to the other towns. It's a lovely small area but can feel over- run with tourists. We were there the end of September and it was still crowded.
Manarola was a wonderful place to call home for your trip. We stayed a week hiking, eating and exploring Cinque Terre. I can't imagine visiting such a lovely place for only a day or two. All the towns were very easy to reach either by boat or train. The hiking was amazing. The views from the hills were breathtaking and it was such fun to walk into or out of the towns. We took two tours while we were there; a pesto class at Nessum Dorma and a sunset cruise with Arbaspaa. I highly recommend both. Manarola, like many of the town are built on hills so be prepared to hike a bit to restaurants and your room.
Close into town, comfortable beds, clean, great host. The tv stopped working and within minutes Emanuela was there to fix it. Close to good restaurants and a good size space for a short stay. Small view of the sea, 2 minute walk to the ocean and train station. Emanuela gave a thorough rundown of all the different towns in Cinque Terre and best places to swim etc.
As mentioned in a previous review, the photos of this property really don't do it justice. The bedrooms and living areas are all very spacious, and the balcony gives fantastic sea and town views. Although in the heart of the town centre, the balcony doors shut out any noise. I would highly recommend for anyone planning a trip to this beautiful part of Italy.
Excellent accommodation. Wouldn’t change a thing. The location is also beautiful and even though it’s a bit of a walk up the hill, you get spectacular views of the sunset right from your deck. One of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at in Italy. Elevator makes getting luggage upstairs convenient.
Its close proximity to the train station, and to the beach. We loved the view from the balcony, our room had direct access to the balcony. Lorenzo gave us useful advice that assisted us in making the most of our time around Cinque Terre. The facilities were well maintained and very clean.
The room is clean and quiet with an amazing view. You can see the sea and Manarola from your window. The room is around 300 m far from the train station (and from the town center). It’s a very good solution to explore Cinque Terre. Highly suggested.
A five stars hotel in Cinque Terre. Very modern and nicely designed unit. The view was marvelous. We got an free upgrade and staff was nice to give us instructions about the area. Nespresso coffee and free drinking water in the room.
The owner was very friendly and helpful with information about Cinque Terre. Great location, steps to the trails. Our room was very spacious with ample closet space, and outside terrace. Modern and clean bathroom.
Great location in our opinion the best town in Cinque Terre! Right outside tunnel from train station makes for a nice base to explore the region. Great views from the top floor apartment balcony and patio!
This is probably one of the best located apartment in Manarola, the vest village in the Cinque Terre. On the Main Street, very close to the sea. It has a nice balcony overlooking the street. Lovely stay
Everything, the room, the people, the cooked to order breakfast, the view...it was the perfect Cinque Terre dream.
Great place to stay in Cinque Terre (Manarola), amazing location, clean, great host.
Great location for exploring Cinque Terre. Ideal spot in Manarola and great room!
Excellent location, best town in Cinque Terre. Awesome staff.
This property is in a perfect location, not too far from the town or train station. The bedroom we stayed in “Aargan” had the most amazing view of Manarola. We arrived from Pisa later than check in times and were able to self check in! Was a great stay!
