Great location - wonderful bar with view - nice breakfast.

Right on the sea, Hotel Della Baia is in Le Grazie bay, 2.5 miles from Portovenere. It offers an outdoor pool and a restaurant with a varied dining menu featuring Mediterranean cuisine. The Staff was extremely helpful and The restauarant was romantic and with very good food. Bright room with a lovely view over The small harbour. Normally I prefer 4 or 5 star hotels - but this hotel is a hidden Gem away from the crowds and I really really recommend a stay here.

Lovely small village of Porto Venere is walkable and absolutely charming. Lots of tasty and fresh seafood restaurants. Easy access to Cinque Terre by ferries and short drive to bigger city of La Spezia.
Portovenere itself tends to get crowded, even on a week day in September, after the high season has been officially over. In times of COVID19, this can be rather stressing, as the village and streets are small. I think a 2h visit is quite enough if you won’t want to be exploded for too long. So plan your trip to visit other places near-by.
This was the highlight of our holiday in Italy. The town is beautiful, peaceful and still lots to see. We could have spent a week here just relaxing. Highly recommend doing a boat trip - whether it be to other nearby towns or just a tour around the nearby islands. We were traveling with a one year old and it was easy to get around - there is also a wonderful playground right on the water.
Nice jumping off point for Cinque Terre -- a 30 minutes taxi ride or bus ride from La Spezia. Unfortunately, the ferries weren't running the day we were there (too choppy) so only downside is that the local train doesn't stop in PV -- you have to go back to La Spezia to catch it to the CT towns. Lots of charming cafes along the water and delicious restaurants. Less congested than the CT towns.
PortoVenere was a great choice to see the Cinq Terre villages. The boats are very frequent, and you can easily cross to Palmaria Island and spend the day there. It is a very pretty place, well supplied with buses to La Spezia where the train to the villages goes from. Only an hour from Pisa on the train to La Spezia. Busy, but not impossible when we went in late September. Very popular, buzzing and interesting.
We had only booked 2 nights but stayed an extra night to have a day for the boat trip to the Cinque Terre. Another day would have been ideal to have time also for bathing, so 4 nights are recommended. Bathing by the way is mainly from rocks though there is a little beach. We were there at the end of August and noticed a big drop in the crowds after the 31st, so early September would be better, especially for the Cinque Terre.
Portovenere
The staff is very kind. He explained about where to go in Portovenere, and brought us our breakfast on time in the morning. The croissants and focaccia was delicious and we had them looking the sunrise by the window facing to the harbor. The room was new and very clean. There is a wonderful restaurant almost in front of the entrance of the hotel, so it was very convenient to go back to our room, after having nice regional wine and beautiful dinner. Check in and out was very smooth.
Portovenere
Location was awesome, just steps from the main piazza. When we were picked up by Andrea we were a little concerned because to drive there is a long circuitous route and we thought we'd have to walk far into town. In fact the hotel is perched overlooking the town with a lovely view of Castle Dorian, and a front yard with lawn chairs to sit and have a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Nice breakfast too.
Portovenere
We loved the view from the balcony! Apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen is a little tight but we didn’t plan on cooking, plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Loved that there were 2 full baths. Appreciated the parking too! Mum was great and owner was very responsive. Loved Portovenere!
Portovenere
For anyone visiting Portovenere we would say not to look beyond this accommodation. Its close to the beach and the views from the balcony was amazing. Most importantly the recommendations and the help we got from Mirco (our host ) throught out the stay was exemplary . We would definitely come back to stay here.
Portovenere
The location is perfect as a starting point to visit the Cinque Terre as the boats depart very regularly from Portovenere. Lorella, the landlady, assisted us excellently during our stay! Nice to have a garden with the necessary furniture to have an aperitive and just relax in the deckchairs.
This was the first time at the Grand Hotel in Portavenere and I must admit it was one of the finest run hotels I have been in over the last 30 years our front desk concierge Beatrice made sure that we were taken care of as it was my wife's 60th birthday and our anniversary
Portovenere
Excellent location in central Portovenere. Beautiful balcony overlooking the port, table and chairs. Nice touch to provide coffee maker and coffee, although the cups were not cleaned after use. Lots of cafes and restaurants very close by.
Portovenere
Its a lovely hotel. Very central close to everything in town. Breakfast can be grabbed with a coupon at a nearby restaurant overlooking the port. Bed is comfortable . Bathroom is modern and clean.
The hotel is in a wonderful location. We loved the fact that it was directly across the street from the marina and beautiful boats everywhere. The staff were very accommodating.

Portovenere
It was very nice and the views were beautiful, but it was very remote and it made it difficult to go anywhere, and it’s not close to any restaurants so finding somewhere to eat was sometimes difficult. Would definitely recommend though, the staff were nice, and it was very clean and the pool was a nice added bonus.
