Hotel Posta was founded in 1515 and is in Via Emilia in the historic center of Reggio Emilia. It features original frescoes and elegant rooms with a flat-screen TV. Staying at one of the oldest hotels in the world has got to be worth it - and it was. Located midst a medieval Renaissance town and a great place to explore the city and its environs.

Albergo San Pietro is in the heart of the city, a 10-minute walk from the cathedral and 1640 feet from Reggio Emilia Railway Station. Guest rooms have a TV, cooling fan, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Having read the mixed reviews here, I would like to complement the place I stayed for three nights.

Hotel San Marco is set in Piazza Marconi, opposite Reggio Emilia Train Station, right in the historic center. It offers rooms with attached bathroom, free WiFi throughout, and friendly service. I like the bed. It is very clean.
Beautiful city centre, confusing to navigate at times but you will guaranteed stumble upon a lovely old catherdral, vibrant and lively markets in the piazzas, and the most delicious food you will taste in your life.
I do recommend to visit the Risorgimento's museum, it's free, you can just give an offer if you want and it's really worth it, especially the Sala del Tricolore, where the Italian flag was born. To say nothing of Reggio's traditional dishes, such as cappelletti or erbazzone...very tasty!
Historically significant town for Italian identity (tricolore flag)and famous for resisting Fascism. Deep commitment to innovative social programs and education. Cooperatives formed there in the 50s & 60s endure, for example the Coop supermarket found throughout northern Italy began here. Great combination of industrial and artesanal success and liveable society. Museums, parks, Piazza, theatres, universities, bicycle town. Learning opportunities abound.
Reggio Emilia is a small city in Italy were the people seem to be especially kind and especially careful and helpful. I was there to be with the US Study Group to the Malaguzzi Center and it was all very exciting and lovely.
Easy to get around on foot and easy to get to from Bologne by train. Excellent gelato! Not a good shopping town. Photography expo worth going to. Bologne-Parma-Reggio Emilia-Ferrara with 3 nites in Reggio Emilia, day trio via train to Parma (see opera house), 2 nights in Ferrara and 1 nite in Bologne perfect.
Hotel Posta can be a bit difficult to find, but trust me the search is more than worth it. The hotel is beautiful, built 500 years ago and in the center of the old town. There are great places to eat like Giorgio Pincaldi which is the oldest deli in the City and purveyors of the best ham and mortadella we have had the privilege to eat. If you like Italian family style restaurants and don't mind a little noise Canossa is a five minute walk. The food there is great and the experience memorable. Walking is easy as it is very flat and everything is close. It's an easy drive to the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums in Modena, Bologna is not too far away. They will set up factory tours for Parmigiana Regianno cheese tours, and the Manager and owner of the hotel will take you to his family home to enjoy a balsamic vinegar tour and tasting. Both of these of course require some prior planning, but only serve to show that this is a great place to spend a few days or more of your trip to Italy.

Reggio Emilia is a special town, beauty, history, culture, but not full of tourists. Our 11yearold loved the pool and the breakfast. We were walking distance from a river walk and a park with playground, goats and donkeys and for our luck and surprise an illustrators festival. City bus to the center was easy and cycling would be great!

The hotel was a few minutes walk from the top of the main shopping street which was very pleasant with plenty of bars and eateries along the way and about a 20 minute safe walk into the main square and sights. Parking was on site either in the grounds or underground garage. Clean and everything you would need for one night.

Michela our host was very friendly and hospitable. The B & B was well stocked with food and snacks, drinks etc. As well as an A/C, our room had a ceiling fan, which was great as it was quite humid. Good restaurants were close by, as was Centro Storico.

The deluxe double room very spacious and tastefully decorated. Great soundproofing to the bathroom. Gym in a large air conditioned room with good equipment for a hotel. Bikes were available for use. Breakfast had lots of choice and fresh fruit.
