The location was fantastic! The food was incredible. The family that runs it and their staff couldn’t have been more accommodating or kind to us. I had been injured at a different location recently while vacationing in stresa. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, from communicating special needs to the staff (such as having a breakfast tray ready me to have in our room without us asking, to helping us understand how to use the wheelchair to arranging transportation to the hospital). The cleaning staff even left an ice pack waiting in our room for when I returned from hospital. The breakfast was delicious, too! Clean and comfortable. Cannot stress enough how much better their kindness and intuitiveness made a difficult situation better. Thank you Simon, Carola, Leonardo and the rest of the staff from the bottom of our hearts.

Stresa is the perfect sized town for a trip to Lago Maggiore. Full of restaurants, bars and shops. A small walk from anywhere in the town to either the ferry terminal or the train station.
There are hotels for thrifty travellers as well as the rich and famous. The locals are very friendly and the town feels very safe.
Plenty to do, from boat trips around the lake, train trips to nearby towns, cycling along the lake or just staying in the town to enjoy a bit of shopping in the lovely shops or eating and drinking in the town's plentiful establishments.
The town is mainly flat, so perfect for people with small children and the slightly older travellers.

Stresa & Lake Maggiore is beautiful, but we didn't expect a rather noisy road outside the hotel. There were weddings, a 40th birthday party nearby & loud fireworks late in the evening.
We expected a calm, tranquil resort, but that wasn't the case.

I really enjoyed our stay in Stresa.
I really enjoyed our stay in Stresa. After a week on Como visiting Bellagio, Varenna, and the sights there, Stresa was a welcome bit of calm. The wide promenade that runs along part of the lake handled pedestrian traffic much better than the picturesque but narrow lanes of the Como towns. It never felt crowded. There are quite a few stately old hotels and homes along the main street that reflect Stresa’s opulent Borromean past. The islands are a must see- just a short ferry ride from Stresa.

Beautiful city by Lake Maggiore.
Beautiful city by Lake Maggiore. Perfect base to explore the surrounding areas, like Lake Orta, Lake Megorzzo, and the mountains around. The Borromean Islands are not to be missed, as well. My favorite is the Isola Madre's botanical garden.

We really loved Stresa - beautiful views of Isla Bella and ability to easily travel to the 3 islands. We went to a few of the surrounding towns and were happy that we chose Stresa. Great downtown area with good food options and restaurants. One thing to note - we booked a private boat tour that we did not feel like it was necessary from Stresa. The ferry leaves directly from the town and hits all of the islands and other main towns on the lake - just make sure to buy the tickets from the ferry terminal itself - not the "official" looking people with captain hats standing outside of the ferry terminal - they are WAY more expensive for the same thing!
Friendly helpful staff, hotel in a fantastic location with easy access to Stresa main square and water taxis to the Borromean Islands. Hotel is beautiful in furnishings with ornate ceilings and chandeliers, a small bar, lounge for residents and a breakfast room with views of Lake Maggiore.. Our garden room had a modern walk in shower, balcony overlooking the garden and modernised double or triple glazed windows.
Luca was a fantastic host, he made this B&B feel like a five star hotel - in a home made setting! He was very helpful in giving recommendations for how to get the best out of Stresa.
The room was very clean and well equipped. Breakfast in the garden was great, with bread fresh from the bakery.
The location is in a calm area, close to one of two ports for the ferry, e.g. to explore Isola Bella.
We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice experience in Stresa and the Regina Palace Hotel delivered 110%. With it slightly over the top (but still cheerful) decoration, its generous breakfast selection, and its excellent outdoorpool and gardens, we had a ball. The staff were always happy to help.
The shore front pool is the best spot in Stresa.
We also got to stay in the classical building behind the main hotel which was beautiful, full of charm.
