A cute hotel a little outside the center of town. the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable. the elevator made it easy to get our bags to the room. There was also an excellent breakfast, and the staff took precautions, serving breakfast rather than having a buffet to reduce the impact of Covid. it was a short walk in to the old town and all the restaurants and the market (Wednesdays and Saturdays)

A few steps from the main square in Sulmona, B&B Il Marchese del Grillo offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Our stay at Il Marquese del Grillo was wonderful! Marta was very welcoming, and helpful. we needed to have COVID tests done before returning to the U. S., and she arranged for a doctor to come to the B&B to administer them. She also printed out some paperwork we needed. Breakfast was delicious, and served on her beautiful rooftop garden. Marta’s helper, Michelins was wonderful. We had such fun when she gave us a ride through town on the bus she drives!

Sulmona is a beautiful town. Very traditional. We loved the atmosphere and most places worked with us with the language barrier. Not a problem at the hotel but some cafés were challenging. We wish we stayed longer as we loved the city! If you can get into Dom Cicci for lunch or dinner, it is a must! Very small and very popular. We had an outstanding dinner. Don’t miss it! The hotel said they had a washer but didn’t. I walked about 10 minutes to a laundromat and did our laundry early one morning without a problem. Several in town.
Cute little town with neat history. It was fun to see all the confetti and the things they create with it. Lots of places to visit nearby. Great home base for those wanting to do a little bit of everything. We went in Dec, hoping to ski, but there was little to no snow this year so we'll try again in a few months.
A lovely, peaceful city, unspoilt by mass tourism; lively on Saturday nghts when families come out to walk, talk and eat icecream. Good cafes and restaurants. Lots to do and see in the city and in the area around. A great base for walking in the surrounding countryside and mountains.
We go to Sulmona often as it is near the village where my husband's father was born. It sits in a valley surrounded by the National Park of the Abruzzo and is a charming town, birthplace of the poet Ovid. The people are lovely and it is not overrun with tourists. We've been all over Italy, but I'm always happy to come back to Sulmona!
Sulmona is a lovely town that is making the most of its assets. It has an excellent tourist information centre located in Palazzo SS Annunciata, the best we have found in Italy. Our favourite places to eat in Sulmona are Cantina di Biffi and Hotel Ovidius restaurant. Both have great cooking and wine lists and accommodate gluten free diets. For a quick bite, there is a sandwich bar on Corso Ovidio that makes gluten free sandwiches. From Sulmona, it is easy to make day trips by car or bus to some very pretty nearby towns and villages. The museums are very interesting. We love the biweekly market in Piazza Garibaldi.
Sulmona has some lovely old churches which are interesting to see. The confetti shops have candy arrangements which are too beautiful to eat. The city park “Villa Comune” is very shady and perfect for a stroll or sitting on the many benches to relax. The medieval aquaduc is a must to see.

This is a fantastic place to stay in Sulmona. The apartment is really large, newly renovated and full of nice touches. Parking is available on site and it is a short walk to the historic city centre. The kitchen was stocked for us with fresh fruit and a variety of breakfast choices as well as coffee and an espresso machine! The owners met us for check-in and had lots of helpful suggestions for our stay in the area. Top marks!
Sulmona
Spic and span, nice-size rooms w/good showers, excellent WiFi connectivity, a quick drive into Sulmona, had the place to ourselves. Breakfast appeared like magic each morning (we never saw the host after check-in) - each item was contained in a separate plastic container - meat, cheese, fruit, bread, cookies.

The apartment was beautiful, located in the middle of the Centro storico of Sulmona. Sulmona is a fantastic central location for day trips throughout the province of L’Aquilla. Raffaele was a fantastic communicator. he checked on us and helped us find some wonderful restaurants.
