Absolutely amazing service!! Beautiful rooms, so modern, comfortable and spacious. Awsome food and drinks: we have had breakfast and lunch there as well as aperitivo. The breakfast was so lovely: there were sweet options, including self-baked delicious cakes, croissants and pain au chocolat. Then there was a healthy section with fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt and finally, an Italian section with cheese, salami, Parma ham and ciabatta. Everything was delicious!! For lunch, they made us a big Italian platter-also delicious. The aperol Spritz were on point. The pool area was so lovely and absolutely relaxing. What was the best, however, were the owners and the staff: so friendly and supportive. Absolutely extraordinary service!!

The property was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and only a 5-minute walk to the main piazza in Sulmona. The owner could not have been more helpful and made us feel very welcome. The private spa was a fantastic bonus and made our stay even more enjoyable.

So charming, my husband and I fell in live with this little gem. So quaint, and the rooms were so cool and refreshing, we were happily surprised by everything here and the staff were super helpful providing us with a map etc and recommending dinner spots, breakfast with home made juice was the best breakfast we had during our whole stay in Italy,, thank you!

We had a great experience at Hotel Continental. The rooms and the whole hotel are very clean and well maintained — you can really feel that they care about cleanliness and comfort. A special thanks to the staff: everyone is extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. They always go out of their way to make sure guests have everything they need and feel welcome. The hotel is right by a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for relaxing and swimming. The food is varied and plentiful, with lots of options for everyone. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday by the sea with amazing service!

FAQs about hotels in Abruzzo

Unspoilt Nature and World-Class Wine

From the Apennines to the Adriatic, unspoilt nature is what the Abruzzo is all about. Between hilltop towns and sandy beaches are swathes of rolling countryside and magnificent mountains.

The capital L’Aquila is being rebuilt following the earthquake that sadly left a devastating mark. This city and the medieval hill town Teramo sit in the foothills of the Gran Sasso National Park. This fantastic park is home to a rare antelope, wolves and wild boar, the latter of which can be found alongside brown bears in the Abruzzo National Park further south.

Most Abruzzo National Park hotels and one of the 5-star Abruzzo hotels are in Pescasseroli, a top ski resort. Roccaraso is also popular for skiing. To the north, Sulmona gave birth to Ovid and ‘confetti’, sugared almonds that Italians present as gifts. Its largest square Piazza Garibaldi hosts several events.

To the north-east is Chieti, a lovely hilltop town with an archaeological museum detailing the region’s rich history. Its closest resort is Pescara, whose long, sandy beach is only interrupted by its large port. Another popular beach is at Vasto, just north of the Molise border.

Whether you choose one of the Abruzzo hotels, apartments or B&Bs on Booking.com, you won’t be far from a vineyard producing the region’s famous Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine.

The hotel is ideally situated directly across from the beach, just a short walk from the harbor and the main shopping and dining areas. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Pesara was a beautiful city, and you can see this in the few remaining buildings from the past. But most of it is new, so the historic aspect is not present. The sea is beautiful, totally covered with beach chairs and umbrellas to be rented and the lifeguards don't let you in more than the hip level. If you are a swimmer, thesecthings are a horrible frustration, and you have to get out of the city by train. Fortunatelly, the trains are cheap, very clean, and run very well.

In between Pescara and Termoli if you want to see other towns. Can also drive into the countryside quickly if you want to visit olive oil production or wineries.

Tortoreto Lido has a really nice long “Lungo Mare” with beautiful trees and other plants. The area is well kept and clean. The only problem is that quite a few dog owners don’t care to clean up after their dogs. The beaches are really nice and clean. There are a lot of good restaurants with fair prices.

Abruzzo is a beautiful region, with beautiful nature reserves, mountain ranges and beaches. It is not very densely populated, or touristy. As its capital, l'Aquila is a lovely antique city to visit and to explore the inland parts of Abruzzo, like the Gran Sasso and Parco Nationale d'Abruzzo. Since the renovation after the earthquake the centre of l'Aquila has a lot more small bars and restaurants and it has become a great place for a night out. We love going to l'Aquila and staying there for a few days.

Giulianova is a cozy town on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.

Giulianova is a cozy town on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. The long coastline has many wonderful beaches with golden sand. The embankment along the sea is full of flowers. There are long, comfortable bike paths that are used by many visitors to the city. For lovers of antiquity, there is a beautiful center on the hill. Food, vine and relax are perfect in Giulianova.

I happened upon the "Notte Bianca," and it was fabulous! The whole town was closed to traffic and full of people, music, food, and entertainment. There is nice shopping throughout the town, and the Basilica for St. Thomas the Apostle is also in the town. There is a bike/running path along the shore. I was fortunate to attend a production of La Traviata at the theatre and it was incredible, and the theatre very comfortable.

During my stay, I also explored Pescara, Chieti, and Pineto, and each place had its own unique charm. Pescara is a lively coastal city with beautiful sandy beaches, a vibrant promenade, excellent restaurants, and plenty of shops. It offers the perfect mix of relaxation and city life. Chieti is a historic hilltop town with stunning panoramic views, elegant streets and impressive churches. It has a peaceful atmosphere and is ideal for anyone interested in history and culture. Pineto is a quiet seaside town known for its crystal-clear water, long beaches, and beautiful pine forest that stretches along the coast. It is a perfect destination for a relaxing day by the sea and for enjoying nature. I highly recommend visiting all three places, as they each offer a different and memorable experience of the Abruzzo region.
