Its good city.
I stayed right in city center. I visited main attractions from evening till late night 1 o clock. It was good experience in night to roam around city center by walk. No crowd. Next day we could manage to woke up early and visited again same places starting from 0730 hrs to take pictures.
Its best if you walk. Its small city as such except few locations.
It depends on your interest what you want to see museum's or what. I am having two young kids.. . You can decide as per your travel group.
Do not miss Gelato, we ate lot at Venchi Gelato and Chocolate, Its chain of many shops. 2 at main station and few many near major attractions.
Many Nice restaurants are in city center. About attraction whole lot of thigs are documented on You tube and internet. Just surf 2-3 videos and pick what you like and suits you. Happy travel.

Florence is a Fantastic City.
Florence is a Fantastic City. A key thing in all Italian Cities if using public transport purchase a ticket before you board and always validate at the machine on board which tend to be Yellow. Inspectors are very unforgiving and we saw a number of tourists being fined 50 euros for failing to have a valid ticket. Tram stops have machines at them and for the bus you can use your debit card to tap on the machine. We did this in Siena the inspector came on checked our card and all was good. Would absolutely visit Florence again.

I have been travelling to Florence for over 30 years and I can honestly say that I have never seen it so crowded, (early September). It's good that they have extended the pedestrian zone from il Duomo towards Palazzo Riccardi Medici, as this makes things a lot more pleasurable, especially in the evenings. The main train station has become a nightmare and tickets now need to be purchased for specific trains. If you need to actually speak to someone about your journey, you are in for a long wait, because the ticket desks, (for which you will need to take a ticket and wait for your number to be called), are very slow.
You are encouraged to book your tickets for the Uffizzi Gallery online, (directly through their website, otherwise you will pay more). This seems to have helped enormously with the queues.
If you appreciate good things, then pay a visit to San Lorenzo Church. Nothing in this church is anything but the best possible quality and is well worth the 7 Euro entry fee. If you want to see where the Medici are buried however, you will need another ticket, but it's worth it.
The area around San Lorenzo is also good for eating, but the restaurants, at the time of my visit, were very busy. However, you can get a very good Florentine steak for two people, with wine, for approx 70 Euro. On average, a meal for one person is going to cost around 20 - 25 Euro, (pasta, glass of wine and an espresso).
There are a lot of things to see and do in Florence, so a couple of days isn't going to be enough. Personally, I would avoid peak season and be prepared to pay an entry fee for almost everything!

Very busy especially around main attractions.
Very busy especially around main attractions. The biggest disappointment was arriving by train at Rifredi Station. There was no elevator, lots of steps and no taxis or public transport into Florence.
Also, we were to learn that taxis need to be booked 24hrs in advance.
The steaks on offer at most restaurants are amazing.

I liked the Palazio degli Uffizi a lot. You can not miss it!
but there was a train strike and it was a terrible day to travel to Bologna !
I also enjoyed the local Italian pasta, pitsa and ice cream!!!
This was one of the most comfortable hotels I stayed at on my trip to Italy. The hotel room was very spacious and bright, everything was clean and tidy, and the surroundings were very quiet. The location of the hotel was also very convenient, a few minutes walk to all the attractions I wanted to visit. There are many gourmet restaurants and convenient supermarkets near the hotel. We were especially surprised by the Asian market nearby.I would recommend this hotel to all my friends who want to travel to Florence.
Sergio and Ada were amazing hosts - the best we had during our time in Italy! They were very attentive and always happy to help us, with Sergio giving us all the best places to eat and drink, as well as the touristic sights to see. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we felt like plenty of thought had been put into the wants and needs of their guests. The location was also good - close enough to the centre but also far enough to have a more authentic experience of Florence.
Without a doubt the best party we had in Italy! The residence is beautiful, very well decorated, the rooms and bathrooms are large, beds and showers are excellent. The staff is super kind and helpful, the breakfast is delicious, and of course, the cute dogs are delightful company. We will definitely be back and we will recommend it to everyone who stays in Florence 🙂
Amazing! A room with a balcony in the historic centre of Florence. The room was very nice, beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We travelled around Italy. This b&b was much better than a tree star hotel in Rome. The hotel is very well located. The train station is almost across the street. I recommend this hotel by heart.
This place is fantastic! In the city center of Florence, the rooms are full of history and well renovated. The bed was incredible with a super nice top mattress, it looked like a 5 start hotel. the host Chiara was super kind and help to let become this vacation one of the best we ever had. Highly recommended!!!
