As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza drenched with vibrant pink blossoms, you might have to pinch yourself. The amazing location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
But wait, there's more. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the largely intact Greek Theater has amazing views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Great summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars feature live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, with a clock tower and church overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the center of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the southwest, there's a long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and to the north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you'd expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there's no shortage of places to stay in Taormina on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, centrally located apartments and luxury B&Bs.
Taormina was beautiful. Lots of steps when you leave main area. We expected that and at 78 with athritis I managed fine. Also be aware that Isola beach has 115!stairs to descend but very much worth the effort -stunning Food was delectable very different from rest of Italy and for us used to Irish prices very cheap Look for where locals eat , beautiful home cooked food. People do dress up at night and parade the main square, great for people watching
This is our 3rd time in Taormina and we have never seen it as busy, friendliness has gone slightly due to the ever increasing numbers and our local business friends would say the same. But what a beautiful place with great restaurants and history attached and as we got married here will always hold a special place in our hearts. This is not a town for an easy walk about if you have aliments.
Taormina is a wonderful small town overflowing with historic buildings, quaint shops and amazing restaurants. The ancient Greek Theatre is stunning and well worth your time as is the Villa Comunale, public garden.
Taormina is very hilly with lots of steps. The main strip is reasonably flat with a good selections of shops and restaurants. Getting back up to higher properties is a steep climb. Taxis have a minimum charge of €15.
Our hotel was in the perfect location with incredible views out to sea, the Greek theatre and Etna plus right in amongst the old town and close to the arch leading you to the Greek theatre and the cable car. It was good to explore the theatre and enjoyed watching the sunset from its hidden rooftop bar. Fantastic snorkelling down at the beach then wandering back to the main square to people watch. We found a fabulous restaurant Gourmet 32, 2 mins away from our hotel for our evening meal.
Taomina is set in a delightful spot, by the sea and close to Etna and the Gorges of Alcantara. There is an interesting few things to see in the town- cathedral, amphitheatre etc. There are some extremely good restaurants (go to Tripadvisor for advice). BUT there are hordes of tourists. And the route in, by train, drops you at bottom of steep hill which is very busy with buses and cars. There is a frightful scrum to get on a bus up the hill and the taxi is a bit pricey. Hotels are nice as they were built in early 20th century and had the pick of the spots. We spent three nights- had hoped to get a trip to Etna but the weather was bad and the trips didn't 'go' on days we were there. Book in advance. We took our selves on a trip to the Gorges, bus was ok but be sure you book the right return bus as the seats are allocated and driver very unkeen to take us on earlier bus- even though empty ( and late). Also take shoes top allow walking on stones in the water. I think a day or two by a pool would be nice, so choose hotel wisely. The beach is down at bottom of steep hill.
This hotel in my opinion has the best view of Etna in Taormina. The view from the restaurant and the pool is amazing. Although it has no private beach, it offers the great possibility for its guests to use the beach of Caparena, which is really nice. The shuttles are very convenient and not expensive. Very polite staff (at the reception as well as in the restaurant). Rooms are cleaned every day and are left spotless. Delicious breakfast. The location is also top - close to the centre, the theater and the main shopping streets.
Taormina
Great location. The hotel is just near the sea. Stockholm Spisone beach is sandy and free to use. It was a joy to take our time in the beach just a stone throw away from the room. The cable car is 10 min away by walking. Isola Bella beach is 15 min away from the room. The bus station to visit Taormina centre is just in front of the hotel and very easy to access. There are private beaches and restaurants around. It was an amazing holiday and I would like to thank you Guiseppe, the amazing host.
This property is 5 stars! It is completely updated with incredibly comfortable beds, luxury linens and absolutely beautiful decor. The owners take great care to make the property comfortable and true to the spirit of Taormina. it is authentic and beautiful. We were some of the first people to stay here, and i feel very lucky to have had the opportunity. If you are looking for a five star experience in Taoromina, you should book this place. The location, beds, and AC were all wonderful too.
The entire stay was miserable. From the check in to stepping into the tiniest, pest invaded dirtiest room. Phones not working nor Wi-Fi. In general No requests could be accommodated , from a simple breakfast order to cleaning the room to fixing the phone. The pictures online definitely gives it more credit then in REal life. The staff was not friendly in solving any issues nor showed any interest in resolving any of my concerns. Worst “5 star” service and hotel ever visited.
Beautiful Hotel situated on a cliff. Surroundings was magcal. Staff in reception and breakfast area were friendly and welcoming. Small parking wich is organized effectivly by the staff. Short stroll (upwards) to Taormina centre. 10 minutes walk (upwards) to Taormina Bus Station. Book shuttle if you want to visit Isola Bella or Mazzeo Bay. Wiew from hotel is to die for. Giardini Naxos and the bay at night is worth it all. Hope to be back at Bel Soggiornio, best from Norway.
Taormina
Super convenient location, good view from the balcony. The best staff I have ever met. It was raining when I visited Taormina. The weather could have disappointed me but Ernesto saved my days. He speaks good English and is very willing to talk to people. I knew more about Italy and Sicily after two days stay at the B&B and felt even doing nothing but only walking around the town centre and talking to people there are so enjoyable.
Great location in a quiet street overlooking the gulf of Taormina, but not far from the centre of the city. Restaurants and shops easily reachable. The sea view from the room I booked is breathtaking. I lived sitting on the balcony and watch the sunrise, the sunset and everything in between. Even the bathroom has a window with sea view! The hotel ans the rooms are kept clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Great boutique Hotel, very well located adjacent to the main pedestrian street of Taormina. Very elegant and neat. clean, spotless bathroom and toilets. Great breakfast. Very nice rooftop terrace. Elevator and Garage car park. But the best part is the staff! Thank you Giuseppe for your great hospitality and attention. Thank you Gatzia for all the breakfast traets :). We will surely come back. Arrivederci
This is where you want to stay in Taormina. The terrace has commanding views of the sea and Mt Etna. The hotel staff was professional and accommodating. Our room was spotless. There is a path through the hotel garden that leads directly down to the main pedestrian street. You'll can be at the main square within five minutes. Fantastic hotel.
Perfect Location. Private Beach with a bar, chairs and umbrellas with a view of Islo Bella. Infinity Pool overlooking Bay of Naxos and Mt Etna with poolside bar service. Pool area had plenty of chairs with stunning views. Staff very attentive. The hotel had a free shuttle service to Taormina.
The location couldn't be better. Right in the centre of Taormina. Parking was available for our motorbike. The room was beautifully decorated as is the hotel. Breakfast was full on and served in a sunny and very pleasant room. Everything was extremely clean and the staff were wonderful.
The hotel is very well located, just a five minutes’ walk to the many shops and restaurants of Taormina. You are without doubt here in one of the most beautiful spots of Sicily. And the view from the room is magnificent: blue skies, the Mediterranean Sea and the mount Etna. Spectacular.
Taormina
Fantastic boutique hotel in Taormina. We arrived during a heavy storm and the staff went out of their way to set us up for the night. Beautiful room on a high cliff overlooking Taormina. Great Breakfast. Will happily stay in this hotel if we ever find ourselves in Taormina again.
The hotel staff were very welcoming! We had a great chat with Angelo and a lovely time at the Garden hotel in general! Great breakfast! There was a private access to a beach and it was super close to Isola Bella as well. Taormina centre is a short bus ride away or a 30min walk.
This hotel has old world charm! You feel like you are in Sicily! The location is on the beach. All rooms have sea view(amazing)!! Chairs & towels are included in price as is breakfast. This hotel & rooms are very clean( white sheets & white soft towels)
Taormina is incredible! The hotel is higher end compared to the others in the area. The staff is wonderful! And the their shuttle service makes this an idea hotel for the area. You can go up into town or down to the beach.
