Taormina is a must if touring Sicily. We have been there several times before. While the main centre is touristy, it is a nice walk with wonderful shops and restaurants and magnificent views of Mt. Etna and the Mediterranean Sea. We stayed at La Malandrina in a beautiful and modern apartment. We dined at Ristorante L'Arco dei Cappuccini which was excellent. A drive to Castelmola is also worth the extra effort as the views are spectacular. We could see all the way to Calabria Italy.
Beautiful city, we are three young women and we felt really safe. The nature is amazing and the antiques are interesting and beautiful. We walked the whole city great experience. The beach was a disappointment it’s not so reachable but we were at the low season.
Full of character and history at every turn.. Can wander around the whole town with ease and at leisure, in & out of, up, down and around narrow streets and staircases. I felt very safe as a solo traveller. The locals were incredibly friendly and kind, everyone from waiting staff, to food vendors and taxi drivers. Plenty of traditional trattorias to choose from with great, well priced, authentic Sicilian food .. the whole place has a magical ambience that I’ll never forget.
Great in summer months In February it is very quiet majority of cafes, shops and restaurants are closed. A few restaurants open in the town best to call ahead for a table. I used Local buses and trains to visit nearby towns, check times with the operator. Take precaution for the very windy roads! The cable car does not operate in the evening. It is possible to walk up and down to the sea, this is better with a companion, the views are wonderful.
Taormina is the most elegant city in Sicily, a piece of heaven, and the location where the new season of the HBO series "White Lotus" was filmed. Taormina's location on Mount Tauro gives it a wonderful view of the sea, and the mild climate favors holidays at any time of the year. We came in the off-season and had the opportunity to enjoy every corner of the city without the usual crowds of the summer months. The center of Taormina is rich in historical landmarks, the buildings have special balconies and steps, decorated with Sicilian ceramics and head-shaped vases - all colored in vivid shades. On the main street, the city can be walked in about 15 minutes, but my advice is to take your time to explore the related streets. I definitely recommend going to the Antic Theatre of Taormina - an ancient architectural masterpiece inserted in a unique panoramic context overlooking the Ionian Sea and Etna volcano. Not to be missed is a walk to Isola Bella - an island bought several times by nobles for its beauty. You can reach the island on foot by sea 🙂 and if you still have time, from Isola Bella you can go on a boat trip to have a different perspective on the coast and the majestic volcano Etna. From Taormina you can go by bus to Castelmola - one of the most beautiful villages in Sicily, built near the ruins of a Norman castle. Also from Taormina you can go on a day trip to the Etna volcano. We didn't manage to go to Etna, which is why we will definitely come back to Sicily. You can find more pictures from our trip to Taormina here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1232495367623889
Taormina to us was a shot in the dark, our first stay in Sicily and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a quintessential jewel of a town , built upon the cliffs overlooking the sea. From our scenic walks through , the medieval town to the glorious views from the Piazza Aprile to the scenic and awe inspiring Teatro Greco, a Greek theatre still used today with epic views. Their rooftop terrace is perfect for afternoon aperitifs. Also this town is a gateway for your tour of Mt. Edna, not to be missed. A great stop for a week, anytime of the year!
Taormina
Incredible property, right next to San Domenico luxury hotel featured in White Lotus but a fraction of the price. truly a home away from home, so well appointed with everything you would need if not eating out. Million dollar views across to Etna from the terrace and out to sea. Tranquil spot in Taormina but within easy walking access to great restaurants, parking, sight seeing spots, and cable car to Isola Bella. Our host was just charming- gave us so many tips on arrival and accessible throughout our stay. Already planning on coming back!
This hotel in my opinion has the best view of Etna in Taormina. The view from the restaurant and the pool is amazing. Although it has no private beach, it offers the great possibility for its guests to use the beach of Caparena, which is really nice. The shuttles are very convenient and not expensive. Very polite staff (at the reception as well as in the restaurant). Rooms are cleaned every day and are left spotless. Delicious breakfast. The location is also top - close to the centre, the theater and the main shopping streets.
We really enjoyed the hotel, location and territory. Attention to the guests , you can feel from the first second. We would like to thank receptionist manager Salvatore, very caring and professional, lifeguard Giovanni (service on the beach was great ), barmen Roberto, and all the staff. The sea was amazing , beach, music, drinks and good breakfast. Thanks for manager Giuseppe Trefiletti for a compliment champagne. Grazzie mille for hotel management. Our holiday was amazing, we would like to come back.
The property located on top of one of the main Taormina beaches/both are walking distance away (there is a path from hotel straight to the beach). It is also very close to cable cart which takes you to actual Taormina city. Enjoyed the stay, pleasant staff, the owner was welcoming and friendly. We also got a chance to check in with a new member of the staff who was still learning. She did great! Managed to get a free parking right outside the premises (saved us 15 euros).
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Corallo The hotel is very close to the train station, this made is very easy for us to reach it. It is very close to the bus station, this makes it very easy to reach Isola Bella and the Taormina old city centre. The rooms were very clean and comfy. The hotel offers good prices for Taormina. We also enjoyed the pool and the nearby beach. The staff was lovely, very considerate, helpful and caring. Thank you for hosting us :)
Hotel has amazingly beautiful grounds, sea views and view to Mt Etna, free parking, delicious breakfast buffet (every morning they made fresh tiramisu and bunch of other delicious things). Breakfast is served in the open room and terrace with amazing views. Room is very simple, beds are somewhat comfortable, very clean. We had family room with kings size bed, single bed and couch. Hotel is very good for the value. 10 min walk to Taormina center
Taormina
Clean and comfortable. Pool and views from the pool was gorgeous. Staff wore masks and were frequently cleaning the communal areas. They were one of few hotels during our Sicily trip which did this. Attentive staff; they were happy to accommodate us with an earlier breakfast when we wanted to climb Mount Etna. Good spread of breakfast. Free parking on site. 20minute drive into Taormina. Would recommend this hotel to others.
Taormina
The hotel is right on the Isola Bella beach (which is stunning!) and has designated tanning beds and staff that takes care of everything you need while you are on the beach. We stayed in a bongalo which was relatively small but quiet. Breakfast was excellent. There is free parking if you are coming by car. The restaurants in the hotel were very good. Very close to the cable car that takes you to Taormina city center.
This is a supreme area of Taormina to be near the sea. If your idea of Taormina is up the mountain, the hotel offers a convenient shuttle to their sister hotel at the top next to the Greek theater. Hotel Timeo is the sister hotel if you would prefer a more Italian village experience. If you want the seaside, you can't go wrong with Sant'Andrea.
Atlantis Bay is an excellent hotel if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet getaway. Great location - outside of central Taormina making it less chaotic - fantastic breakfast, great restaurant by the water for lunch, clean, and very comfortable rooms. Thank you to Bruno for going the extra mile to make us comfortable during our stay!!
Very clean, comfortable updated hotel room near (just a short walk down stairs) the heart of Taormina, but enough “above” the Main Street so it is quiet and peaceful. Bed was large pretty comfortable and had 4 pillows. Very nice Sicilian breakfast on the rooftop with beautiful views.
Taormina
It is a perfect accommodation at a very good price. Its quality and service exceeds that of many luxury hotels. The location is unbeatable, right in the center of Taormina. The attention is very cordial and attentive but as well respectful of the space and privacy of the guests.
Beautiful hotel with stunning views. We had a room with balcony and chairs overlooking the water and part of the pool area. Nice selection of breakfast items. Good location, 5-minute walk to old town (but longer to get back to hotel). Most of Taormina built on a steep slope.
Great location on the beach, water lovely despite pebbly bottom, close to gondola to head up to the centre of Taormina. The staff were all wonderful, breakfast fab. The restaurant is terrace is gorgeous, great views from the bedroom.
Location was a 10mins walk from Taormina centre, with a nice view of Castelmola situated above the hotel itself. The breakfast was simple, yet very delicious. The staff were very helpful.
Great breakfast on a beautiful terrace. Room and hotel spaces very nice. Good location for lower Taormina.
