- Chiara was extremely helpful during the check-in, a real lovely person and amazing staff. - They provide you with cold, filtered water and water bottle, even though the tap water is good in Udine. - The breakfast is exceptional. They have sustainable boxes where they put the food you choose the night before. Everything is delicious, local and seasonal food. The breakfast is the highlight of the stay.

FAQs about hotels in Udine

Historic Friulian Capital

Quaint and provincial Udine is one of those typical Italian towns grown for centuries under the influences of different cultures. It is also the centre of the Friuli area, long celebrated for the quality of its produce, including the ‘San Daniele’ ham, ‘Friuli DOC’ wine, and ‘Montasio’ cheese. Nonetheless, it also represents a gateway to the eastern Alps.

The area has been inhabited since the Neolithic age, and its foundation and name origin is not clear to historians. First mentioned in Latin records as Udene in 983, it was long under Venetian rule. The mix of Venetian, Renaissance, Baroque, and Austrian influences gives its Old Town a picturesque atmosphere, and offers some of the best hotels and B&B’s in Udine.

It lies on a plain in the middle of the Italian Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, near the Adriatic Sea, the Alps and Slovenia, making it an ideal base to explore the area. In fact, Udine and its surroundings offer a wide variety of hotels, ranging from guest houses and rural ‘agriturismi’ to luxury resorts.

Must-see sites include the panoramic Udine Castle, the central Piazza Liberta', the Piazza San Giacomo, and its mid-13th century Cathedral.

The local railway station offers direct links to Venice and Trieste. Check out the Udine accommodation deals on Booking.com before travelling.

Udine is an elegant and very urbane city of about 100,000 people characterised by Renaissance architecture. The backdrop of hills leading up to the Dolomites is stunning. The food is excellent and the people are friendly and welcoming and there are plenty of bars and eating spots for your evening Spritz and meal. It's a largely flat, and very walkable city perfect for pedestrians and cyclists.

Udine is the perfect combination of the elegance of northern Italy without the crowds: Venetian-style piazzas, arcaded streets, frescoed palazzi and a castle hill with views over the city and the Friulian plain. It is also one of Italy’s most interesting food-and-wine stops, with Friulano wines, prosciutto from nearby San Daniele, frico, local osterie and a culture shaped by Italian, Austrian and Slovenian influences. It feels lived-in, which makes it ideal for travellers who want beauty, good food and regional character. A real destination for the wine lovers. And if you are one of them - take a look at the food and wine festival - Ein Prosit each October.

Udine is a real Jack in the box of a place - full of surprises! Beautiful architecture, fantastic restaurants (and not too expensive) and, most importantly, within easy reach of other great places like Aquileia, (a MUST) and Cividale. Not far from the border with Slovenia either. All very well if you have transport.

Udine is a juwel little town in a region - Friuli Venezia Giulia - which offers lovely scenery and excellent wine&food. Udine is very easy to walk in order to discover the beautiful architecture, the Castle and the Loggia. Full of cosy bars and restaurants where food and wine are simply amazing and really affordable.

Udine is a beautiful, charming historical city where its proximity to other small towns such as Cividale, Aquileia, San Daniele and Tarvisio makes Udine a perfectly and strategically positioned city to go exploring from. The wine bars and osterias ooze old school charm. The city centre serves as a reminder of its historic ties to Venetian and Roman times. No car? No problem! Udine can easily be walked, it’s flat and grid like so you will never get lost and even if you do, you will invariably end up in the heart of Udine, the Piazza Della Liberta! There are wine bars and osterias galore to try but would have to give a nod to Osteria Pieri Mortadele in Via Bartolini and Osteria Al Canarino in Via Cussignacco. A visit to Mo-Mart in Via Scarpi is also a must for a cocktail or two (this place is seriously the best cocktail bar in all of Friuli). Udine really is a hidden gem which everyone should enjoy at least once in their life.

Perfect location, only a 10 minute walk into the centre. Staff on the reception were very friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel and great value for money. We chose to eat out therefore cannot comment on the breakfast/restaurant. Comfortable beds and rooms have air-con which was needed for the 39°C heat. Would happily stay again. Udine is a city that isn't overrun by tourists and the locals are also friendly, definitely worth a visit

A brilliant hotel near the station and the city centre. There are some lovely cafés nearby. The room was clean and it was quiet enough to sleep in. It had air conditioning, plenty of towels, a kettle and tea. They let us check in early and leave our bags, for which we’re very grateful, so we were able to go for a stroll in the morning without having to carry everything with us. A brilliant city and a brilliant hotel.
