A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.
Francesca and her team provided excellent service and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She even prepared me a beautiful breakfast with different traditional cake options. The hotel was located between the main train station and the city center. Just the perfect location! I absolutely fell in love with Verona and its people. I’ll definitely come back and hopefully be able to stay at the Albergo Trento Hotel again. I am deeply grateful for this unique experience! Thank you. :)
The organisation and presentation of the opera in the arena was fabulous. Our favorite places were the river and the many squares with cafes and restaurants. It is very easy to walk everywhere in Verona. We would avoid August because it was very hot and humid.
Charming town with amazing views and authentic italian food. We were in Lake Como before arriving in Verona. Lake Como is beautiful but it’s very hard not to fall into a tourist trap. Our stay in Verona was very relaxing. We had great food in a historical osteria, town is not too crowded with tourists and there is a lot to see. Landmark, History and Art.
Verona is a beautiful city, with different monuments scattered around, clean streets, safe to walk, nice food and atmosphere. The old town is easy to walk around, and there are frequent bused to take you anywhere around.
I found Verona a lovely city, worth a 2/3 day trip if you like sightseeing and perhaps some shopping. Plenty of nice restaurants which we found good but I would suggest you look a little away from the city centre as we found the restaurants very reasonable.
Lovely city. Great views. Lovely food. Perfect ice cream. We went for 4 nights Could have done it in 3. Best food at La Proscutier on piazza de Erbe. Best ice cream round the corner from Ponte pietro
Very close to the train station. Well maintained and renovated facilities. Friendly staff. Google Maps might show a long and incorrect walk route from the station. When you get out of the station, just go to the far left of the sidewalks towards the hotel. There are both stairs and wheel chair accessible ramps towards the hotel. The bus station in front of the station is really good for travellers. The 10 Euro day pass covers the whole Verona, Garda Lake and the airport shuttle for the next day (even after the day pass expires at midnight).
Città Antica, Verona
I do not give 10’s lightly, but this place deserved it. All communication was immediate and helpful. The premises were spotless. The bathroom was twice the usual size and completely modern. The free parking space was next door to the modern building. An outdoor patio was available and the wifi was fine. He even supplied an assortment of cold drinks/beer at nominal cost (1 euro) in a small cooler in the common area. And the apt was decorated in a stylish way. This was easily one of the nicest places I have stayed at in Italy.
Verona
Perfect stay 15 minutes by walk from the heart of Verona. There is everything in the apartment that you need. Very clean and very comfortable. Just infront of the Santa Marta Rooms&Studios you will find big supermarket and bus stop (in case that you want to go to the center by bus). Around 1-5 minutes by walk you will find restaurants and shops. Kitchen have full equipment. Comfortable bads and pillows. And don't forget to buy pizza from "Wallet pizza" (7-8 minutes by walk) - definitely one of the best in Italy!
Second time stay at the Hotel Verona. Very friendly, helpful staff at reception. This time I had the buffet-style continental breakfast, which was very adequate. Lovely room on first floor, clean, comfy, great shower .... The hotel is in a great location, around a 10 min walk to Porta Nuova train station and less than that to get to Piazza Bra and the Arena ( and shops ). When checking-out I asked for a cab ( to go direct to the airport ) and it arrived before I had said " Arrivederci" to staff.
Verona
Sylvia greeted us when we checked-in and was always friendly, helpful, and willing to answer questions (as were other staff members). The Theatrum had exceptional decor throughout and was very clean and welcoming. The location was excellent, as we could easily walk across the bridge into Old Verona to explore. There was a parking garage just a few blocks away and a small area outside the hotel where cars could briefly park to drop-off and pick-up luggage and passengers.
Hotel Rossi is close walk to the train station. It is a great location if you are wanting to take advantage of the rail networks from Verona to day trip anywhere in Northern Italy. Very friendly desk staff and quick check-in and check-out. Nice room with good shower pressure and with soft bed. Also - it was a very clean room. It has an average Italian breakfast included.
The breakfast was served in the breakfast room of the Picollo Hotel ( the first next building to Guesthouse Verona) and it was very good and with quite wide choice in food. We were very satisfied with the convenience of the hotel location (Only few minutes on foot to the main railway station and app. 10 minutes to Piazza Bra/Arena.
Città Antica, Verona
My last two nights in Italy were in Verona --- a perfect place to end my vacation. Dreaming Suite is in a perfect location. Imagine walking out the front door, turn to your right and have the Verona Arena right in front of you! The room itself was very comfortable and a great space to rest after a day of walking around beautiful Verona.
The personnel was more than helpful. The lady at the reception gave us information not only concerning the hotel, but also about how to get to the important touristic points of Verona. The room was clean. The service at the restaurant was good, personnel spoke good English, which is not often the case in Italy. The breakfast was good.
Verona
The location was superior, very clean, and you can find most of what you need during your stay. We stayed 2 nights, we spent one day in Verona and the other day in Vince . So it was a very good option to escape the cost of Vince hotels. I would recommend the place to my friends and family who are planning to visit Italy
Città Antica, Verona
booked during a airport strike. Our train journey was unexpectedly terminated in Verona. booked late in the evening. Verona is a busy town and this hotel was priced competitively. very clean room which was comfortable. when I come back to Verona I will rebook
Città Antica, Verona
If you want to feel old Italy and Verona, this accommodation is for you. And car parking is very important in this city, so if you are travelling by car this option also is for you. Also I want to say the owner of this apartment is a very nice person.
Borgo Trento, Verona
Beautiful modern boutique hotel set in stunning country gardens with a pool and great staff: all a 15 minute stroll down the hill to the old town of Verona. Perfect for a city break with added luxury.
Città Antica, Verona
The staff were very nice and helpful. They recommended restaurants that were the best meals we have had in Italy. The location is perfect and the view of the city from our room was great.
This hotel was so beautiful! And a perfect location for exploring Verona. The bathroom was a nice luxury as well. Great rain shower! And a little view of the Arena from our room!
It was an average hotel with a decent gym and generally helpful staff. The room was fairly large for Italy.
Lovely boutique hotel in centre of Verona, close to everything. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Great location, service and best bed in Italy.
