We liked the old-world charm of the hotel. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was varied and good. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and looked out onto what we thought would be a quiet street. It was actually very noisy nights and mornings, with people dropping their glass and other recycling in the wee hours -
Also had an electrical circuit issue - for some reason the fuse tripped in the middle of the night so our devices were not charged in the morning.

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Another northern Italian jewel of a city with a lovely, lively old town, a large Roman amphitheater still in use for opera and the next Olympics, and some of the most interesting churches - all Italian Gothic - we visited during our 5 week trip. (And we saw ALOT of churches.) And or course - Romeo and Juliet!

City centre is magical and full of iconic places.
City centre is magical and full of iconic places. It can get crowded on a weekend though, and restaurants should be booked a few days ahead! I felt like 2-3 days was more than enough to see everything you need to see.

Verona is a two day city.
Verona is a two day city. We spent one day around the Arena, saw and historic sites, saw an opera that night at the Arena and then, another in town. Visited art museum and that area which includes a low cost outdoor market. Restaurants were great! Juliet's balcony is a waste of time and money. There isn't a single thing about it that is "real". The city is easy to walk around. People were very friendly and as helpful as they could be.

Just walking the streets and looking up !! Check out the cemetry it is fascinating and there is a beautiful church that is free to go in, santa maria in organo, on the other side of the river, sooooo amazing. That is on top of all the places that are on the to do list !! You will struggle to get lost, get a map from tourist information and put your phone away or you will miss all the good stuff by not looking up ! Don't forget to look down every now and then as you mustn't miss the gelato ! 😎

The city is bigger than we had expected and there were a lot to see. Plus it was very affordable compared to other cities that we had been. So Verona should be on your list to go if you visit that part of Italy.
