A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Verona is a beautiful city- the buildings are gorgeous with muted colours in salmon pink, ochre, pistachio green and grey. People are very friendly and no problem with the language
It was, however, extremely busy and apparently September is a lot quieter! Around the Arena area it’s full of crowds and there was a concert on for 2 nights so queues in the square. Easy to get lost in the back streets with lots of shops and nice cafes and restaurants. The food was amazing….and wine really cheap and very good.
Preferred getting away from the Arena area and wandering the streets. Viewpoint on the Line B tour bus was amazing views. Nice for 2-3 days

The City of Verona is most interesting and picturesque.
The City of Verona is most interesting and picturesque. You can walk to any places of interest and the restaurants I tried all offered good quality food. Reasonable prices. The Opera is a must but buy a seat cushion!, Take your time ,absorb the sights and enjoy.
The hotel was very clean. Breakfast was always ready to serve & fresh, good selection. . Dinner available if wanted in the restaurant - my daughter & I took advantage of this on our day of arrival - prices were similar to those in the city. Helpful desk staff. Housekeeping very good. Bus tickets available at reception. Good bus service from there. Arranged taxi when required & cheaper. A little outside of Verona, we didn't find this a problem.
Apartment Rosso Verona was our best experience so far in Italy.
The apartment itself caters well for 4 people, is very well located, clean, well equipped and in excellent condition.
However, it is necessary to talk about hospitality. Giuzeppe and Cristina are a wonderful couple and provide excellent service, in an attentive and personal way.
Thank you Giuzeppe & Cristina for making our days in Verona the best.
Location is incredible, right next to the Arena. The beautiful city of Verona is so easy to get around, our favourite place in Italy. Great communication and we were allowed to leave our bags in the lobby before check in time so we could go sight seeing without our luggage. Great hosts and non-contact worked easily.
Location! So close to Verona train station, also a very easier 10 min walk from airport transfer bus stop (outside Verona train station) to hotel. 10/15 mins into Verona centre.
