Hotel Bologna ***S

Hotel Bologna ***S

Città Antica, Verona

Hotel Bologna is a historic building facing a romantic little square only 164 feet from the Verona Arena. There is an excellent restaurant on site, and free bikes are available at reception. It was the most central location! Such a beautiful hotel and rooms beautiful and they weren’t large but absolutely fine for us. The hotel was very clean and front desk very helpful. Can’t think of anything negative to say. Verona is a fabulous place to visit.

Hotel Verona

Hotel Verona

Porta Nuova, Verona

Hotel Verona is a 5-minute walk from Verona Arena. This boutique, design hotel features contemporary interiors. Guest rooms have LCD TVs, and most inlcude free WiFi access. The room was extremely spacious, and so was the bathroom. The room itself was amazing, except the view because the room was facing the back lot and not the park upfront. The staff was extremely welcoming and i asked them to do a surprise as i was on my honeymoon and they duly delivered. Any problems i had were sniffed out in no time. It was extremely close to the city center; just a two minute walk. Overall it was a pretty good experience. The breakfast was above average and filling with quite a few options. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a good hotel in verona.

A Shakespearean Fairytale

A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.

Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.

Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.

The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.

Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.
