Just a 5-minute walk from Fujikyu Highland Amusement Park, West Inn Fuji-Yoshida features a public bath and a sauna in the scenic Mount Fuji area. We decided to randomly go to mt Fuji one night on a whim. We would be checking in late and checking out in the morning. We wanted something affordable (under 100usd) for the short stay and conveniently located to the local attractions. The hotel was squeaky clean in all areas. Room had complimentary kimono, front and center view of Fuji from our big window and a great massage chair we made sure to use a sanitizer wipe on because of covid. Easy check in check out process. Family mart and 711 right outside and plenty of food options on the same road. Loved it!

Located a 10-minute walk from Kotobuki Train Station, Business Hotel Fujimi features a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Fujikyu Highland is a 12-minute train ride away. I stayed here for a month. This is not a modern "wow in your face" style hotel, it's pretty modest, but it's the cheapest you'll find for your long stays, with a little kitchen ! The bed was pretty comfortable, the mattress is pretty hard but there are extra covers that you can put on it, so I slept really well ! The room was big enough for me, I had enough space to do some exercices during my quarantine. The best part is the very kind staff ! They are very helpful and were always available for me, even sometimes pretty late in the evening. If you get an apartment higher up, you'll get a great view of Fujisan, it was a pleasure to wake up in the morning to such a wonderful view. Also, the hotel is right next to a pretty important road, it's a very good location. I don't know how far the closest station is though.

Fujiyoshida has the best view of Mt. Fuji, when the mountain decides to show up. I wish we would have stayed longer so we could relax more and take in more opportunities to see Mt. Fuji. The mountain doesn't show up often, so it's best to stay longer for a higher chance. Everything is closed on Tuesdays in this small town, so be wary of that. Ask your hotel for local recommendations that are open on Tuesday. Getting around is pretty tricky, you basically need to walk everywhere unless you have access to a bike. The walking is nice, but it just takes a while.
The walk up to the Chureito Pagoda was lovely in winter. We watched the sunset on the side of Mount Fuji. Fujiyoshida still has some of the iconic Japanese charm, that the Lake Kawaguchi does not have.
You get an awesome view on Fujisan both from the Choreida Pagoda and from the lakes, like Kawaguchiko. I personally walked around the area of that lake and just enjoyed the weather, there is a ropeway up another mountain, as well, so yiu can get a good view. Food is good, but kind of expensive in the tourist areas. Also, I saw that many hotels are situated around the lake, however, that makes it more difficult to go around since they are so far off. There are, however, sightseeing buses you may use to get around.
Mt. Fuji is very stubborn, and it's hard to grab a great view of the mountain due to the clouds/mist. We only were able to stay one night, but were fortunate to see the peak of mountain as we arrived! There are many inns/hotels you can stay at in the area, however don't expect anything new or modern.
Small city with great view. Stores around city is old store type or antique type. Not much choices of eatary, restaurant have specific open hours, you better check out before you go there. We have delicious dinner at toraji ramen near our hostel.
So many things to see, trails to hike and history to learn. Although we visited in late September, the weather was beautiful (minus the typhoon rains for half a day). Definitely a must-visit city/area!
