A good getaway from Tokyo that treats you to a full Onsen experience. A lot of nature and a great view of Mt Fuji, if you get lucky. We started our day with a ship ride down from Togendai to Hakonemoto and had a good walk around. There are good shops to eat near the pier. Hakone Shrine is a good spot for pictures. We like to stroll so it was perfect for us. We stayed at a Ryokan and got the full experience. Having a hot spring bath by the river was really peaceful and fun. We even got to see fireflies! Hakone has a lot of museums and other art stuff that we wished we had more time to see, but unfortunately the rain stopped us from moving freely. All in all, a great place for a couple of days. Recommended
Hakone was the most peaceful part of my entire vacation. The slow pace and tranquil environment brings your body and mind back down from reality. It was a perfect break from all the busy streets, noise, and people.
Hakone was absolutely beautiful. I recommend the boat tour at Lake Ashi for new travelers to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji and visit the famous torii gate. If you decide to do the boat tour you should definitely pay the extra money for first class (less people and you get a peaceful view of the lake).
Hakone is quite a tourist magnet so be prepared for hoards of people. But the scenic beauty of Hakone is worth dealing with the tourist crowds. There is a beautiful park in Hakone that is often overlooked.
Springs are way over rated!! It’s like a hot tub trusting that the water is from the springs! They have traditions for hot spring, women go naked together and men go naked together. Unless you book private hot spring in the room!!!
I loved everything about Hakone. I stayed two nights but 3 would have been perfect. I have Celiacs so eating gluten free in Japan is quite difficult due to soy sauce but many restaurants in this town were able to accomodate me. The chaya tea house is a MUST and ordering the sweet mochi is too. ❤️ Enjoy a nice glass of Shiso juice for something refreshing and bottomless black tea.

It is the best hotel experience I ever have! The owners are amazingly nice. I never really thought such nice persons could exist! They helped us with everything: carrying our luggages, suggesting every places to go in Hakone (with maps and all the information I need) and taking . They even drove us to the onsen near by and bought us Miso Soup and some snacks! The room is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. It’s a combination between modern hotel room and ryokan too! I really really recommend this place for everyone

The staffs are very nice. The location is close to gora station, hotel staff will pick you up if you just give them a call in advance (don't try walk there by yourselves, though it's just 5 minutes road on the map, the path is quite steep). Though the receptionist can't speak English very well, they use a translate machine instead to help communication, so no issues at all. Dinner and breakfast is exquisite (trust me, i have tried a few japanese style hotels and their meal). Onsen quality is as expected.

Just a few steps from the Hakone- Yumoto station makes it a perfect jump off point to other scenic places in Hakone. All staff are very pleasant and nice. The traditional japanese room with outdoor onsen was beautiful. The sound of the river nearby while dipping in the onsen makes the experience very relaxing. I love their attention to details such as traditional sweets and thermos filled with cold water. The way they explain the dinner.

The service at Hakone Fuga is wonderful. The staff are attentive from the moment you enter and take great effort to understand you, despite the language barrier. The hotel has a nice ambience with jazz music playing softly in the background. Breakfast is traditional Japanese style and very filling! Having an onsen on site is helpful and relaxing. I had it mostly to myself during my visit.

Love the room with open air bath, Love the food options at dinner and breakfast, and really like the access to both onsens. I enjoyed spending time at the footbath - air is cool, quiet and can see stars. I like that the hotel can help send our luggages to the train station for a fee, allowing us to travel hands free around hakone after checking out.

The location was fantastic, right in the spot, near restaurants, shops, onsens and walking distance to train station. The personnel of the hotel was outstating giving the extra mile to make you feel good and comfortable. He was very awsome and explain us in detail what to do around the area. No doubt we will stay there again of we go back to Hakone.

I’ve stayed in many ryokans in Hakone and have to say that the rooms are rather huge for that budget friendly price. Surprised that our room comes with a lovely view full of greens. Splendid! Staffs are all smileys. Good indoor Onsen, clean and perfect temperature.
