The natural setting where the hotel is located is fantastic. The onsen is gorgeous with a view of Mount Fuji. The included buffet dinner and breakfast were really good! Overall a great place to stay and great quality - price. The hotel is a bit dated and there is a stringent smell of sulfur but that is understandable given the area where the hotel is located.

It was great. Rode my motorcycle from Tokyo and parked out front. Crackling fire in cozy lounge area was an inviting escape from the chilly lakeside autumn. Quiet and comfortable.

There is a reason why this area is swamped with tourist - it is stunningly beautiful and very well organized to keep the masses moving. Plenty to see and do with options to get away from the crowds such as hiking.

Without doubt, the beautiful scenery of Hakone and surrounding region. We did the loop using the Hakone FreePass, well worth it. If you have time, spend an extra night and if you like a bargain, go to the Gotemba Premium Outlets. The direct bus from the train station is included in the FreePass and takes about an hour direct. It weaves through the various towns throughout the mountains and if lucky, you will see Mt Fuji (if going to the outlets, sit on the right hand side of the bus!)

Hakone is the base for exploring Lake Ashi, national parks, temples and art galleries. I could have easily spent a week or two there. It is a popular destination for Japanese tourists so don't expect everyone to speak English, but we got by fine with sign language and a few key words. We didn't get to try the hot spring baths but I would definitely do that next time around.

Lots to see and do. So many iconic things. Gets very, very crowded. Public transport very limited, especially buses for the volume of people visiting. Getting the Hakone Freedom Pass is a must. You save time and money.

Hakone is a beautiful part of Japan and well worth a visit. Museums and art galleries are world class. Scenery in the mountains and the towns and their restaurants of a high standard. Don't miss out on visiting this lovely area less than a couple of hours from Tokyo.

The hotel location is great, within 5 minutes walking distance (with shelter almost throughout the walk way) from the Hakone Yumoto train station. The room is in another building opposite the main hotel, with lift for access to different level. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. Air condition in the room worked well during hot days. I like the onsen spa at the roof top of the main building, especially the open air public bath, with nice forest and river view. Free and nice coffee served via Delonghi coffee machine at main building lobby.
A beautiful traditional Japanese Hotel. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the Valley. The hotel onsen was very relaxing and not crowded at all. It was also very well equipped with soaps and lotions for a pampering afterwards :)
The staff was super friendly.
The hotel is easy to to reach by bus (from Odawara Shinkansen station) or by train. Lake Ashi is just a 20min bus ride away from the hotel.
A traditional Japanese guest house with superb hospitality from our hostess and traditional Kaiseki Ryori cuisine. We booked a room with a private onsen which was lovely. We stayed 2 nights and the menu for both evenings and breakfasts was different allowing us to try a vast array of Japanese cuisine. The guest house was also near to the main Hakone Yumoto station
Located next to Hakone Yumato station and next to the river. The room was spacious and futon beds were comfy enough. They provide yukatas for you to wear in the hotel. The traditional japanese dinner and breakfast was good but they give so much food. The onsens are on the 6th floor facing the forest and you can even rent a private onsen for 50 minutes.
Great place to stay ! You need the car to get there, but it is a lovely place. The room was big, confortfull, very clean with tatami big corner. the hot spring (Onsen) is amazing. Silence everywhere. Machines for food, drinks and ice cream.
Very good place to visit Hakone and Lake Ashi.
