Best hostel I visited on my whole trip to Japan. Super fun to walk up to as it feels like there should not be a hostel there, the surrounding place is beautiful, I went on a walk in to the forest just up the path which the owner showed me and the scenery around was like something out of a studio Ghibili (I was alone though so chickened out after not walking far). The game room of the hostel is the type of chill out place you’d dream of as a kid (it has tonnes of vintage games) and the hostel is just fun to walk around as the layout is a bit bizarre. Hostel owner is also a very nice chill guy, and the ramen place recommended was my favourite meal I had in Japan.

Before arriving, I must admit I felt a bit hesitant. After making the reservation, I came across many negative reviews, which made me unsure — especially because, based on the photos on Booking, the hotel looked extremely attractive and welcoming, which didn’t seem to match the ratings I was seeing. Even so, I decided to take the risk. I have been working in hotel management for many years, and I know that reviews should not always be taken at face value. Upon arrival, my perception completely changed. The service was simply wonderful — we were welcomed with a level of hospitality truly worthy of a traditional ryokan. This is an older-style ryokan, perfect for those looking to experience the atmosphere of Japan from decades ago. The hotel is located in a more remote area, surrounded by nature, offering incredible views and absolute tranquility. It is truly a wonderful place. From the moment you enter, the staff guides you and introduces the hotel in a very attentive and thoughtful way. On the first floor, there is a shop offering a variety of items, from food and souvenirs to clothing, as well as kimonos and yukatas available for guests to use during their stay. Also on the first floor, you will find a large and spacious dining area where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served (upon reservation). The male and female onsens are also located there and are excellent. In addition, there is the option to reserve private onsens, ideal for those seeking a more intimate experience — whether as a couple, with family, or even alone. All of them are spacious and offer beautiful views. There is also a game room with table tennis, massage chairs, and a very comfortable space to relax. Near the onsens, you will also find a quiet area with mattresses and pillows, perfect for taking a nap after a bath. Moving up to the rooms, the experience remains impressive. The rooms are extremely spacious, almost like small apartments.
