Interesting place. Good food, nice and kind people. I made some friends that seems true genuine forever friends. Im happy visiting the city. Not a fancy place to clarify, but super friendly. You can do things here that in other bigger cities will cost you much more, like the archery class.

The Peace Park was very sobering and beautifully laid out.

The Peace Park was very sobering and beautifully laid out. The castles were a unique look into Japan's past. The underground shopping mall was a great place to be on a hot day. Travelling around town on the electric streetcars was fun.

Hiroshima is a great little city (1-2 million?)

Hiroshima is a great little city (1-2 million?) with a terrible history that it has turned to a force for good, lots of green space and mostly friendly and helpful locals. The Peace Museum is gut-wrenching, sobering and brilliant and all the memorials are worth seeing and thinking about. Miyajma Island was definitely worth a days trip too - even without the ropeway working.

The museum, park and river are easy to get to.

The museum, park and river are easy to get to. Good shopping which was not far away on the street car. We ate most meals near the hotel because I was sick. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area better.

Sadly we had to cut our time in Hiroshima down to two half...

Sadly we had to cut our time in Hiroshima down to two half days but what we saw was all wonderful and I intend to return. On the first afternoon, we spent all our time in the Peace Park, first looking at the A Bomb Dome and the various memorials and then three hours in the fantastic and deeply moving museum. I did not quite finish looking around in that time but was deeply affected by what I learnt about the effects of the A bomb. We had a great meal of Okonomiyaki Hiroshima style (with noodles) and on our final morning, we went to the absolutely beautiful Shukkeien Garden which was like Japan in miniature with Mount Fuji, complete with amazing views, an Inari style shrine as in Kyoto, rice fields, bamboo forest, tea plants and beautiful tea houses. And lots of fish and turtles wanting to hoover up the food you can buy for them.

I think that everyone goes here to experience the Peace...

I think that everyone goes here to experience the Peace Museum and the Peace Park, and we were no exception. Entry to the Museum was only 200 yen per person and we spent almost 2 hrs there. It is a very moving and sombre experience and everyone wanders through the museum in silence. The stories and images take some processing...on a similar level to the 9/11 museum in New York, and unless you have a heart of stone, you will be affected by the enormity and human tragedy of what happened on 6 Aug 1945 at 8.15. The Peace Park is beautifully laid out with the Atom Bomb Dome at the far end and many monuments to discover. It's really a must see if you have the time in your itinerary, and perhaps if all our World Leaders were made to take a tour, the world might be a safer place for future generations.

The hotel was right next to the river in a very pretty part of town. It was an easy walk to the main train station with lots of little eating spots around and a short walk to the main part of Hiroshima. The hotel was very comfortable and the twin room size was perfect for two adults (my sister and I were travelling together). We booked breakfast which was in a lovely spot with great views out. We walked everywhere from the hotel.

It ticks all the boxes! Cheap, comfortable, clean, friendly and very helpful staff. The Japanese-style breakfast buffet was amazing - not to mention you get a free alcoholic drink during your stay too! The location is perfect also - right infront of the tram stop and near-by the castle and peace park - not to mention sooooo many shops. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hiroshima looking for something central :)

We booked Mitsui Garden Hotel as it was located very centrally and looked clean with decent enough services. What we got though exceeded our expectations greatly. The staff who helped us check in on our first night were extremely helpful and friendly, and the views, overall service and cleanliness were all amazing. I will definitely be staying here again if and when I return to Hiroshima.

This is a modern hotel in Hiroshima excellently located for all the sites as well as for shopping. Our room was rather spacious for Japan and we had great views. The hotel also has a rooftop bar which was buzzing and really nice.
