Sadly we had to cut our time in Hiroshima down to two half...

Sadly we had to cut our time in Hiroshima down to two half days but what we saw was all wonderful and I intend to return. On the first afternoon, we spent all our time in the Peace Park, first looking at the A Bomb Dome and the various memorials and then three hours in the fantastic and deeply moving museum. I did not quite finish looking around in that time but was deeply affected by what I learnt about the effects of the A bomb. We had a great meal of Okonomiyaki Hiroshima style (with noodles) and on our final morning, we went to the absolutely beautiful Shukkeien Garden which was like Japan in miniature with Mount Fuji, complete with amazing views, an Inari style shrine as in Kyoto, rice fields, bamboo forest, tea plants and beautiful tea houses. And lots of fish and turtles wanting to hoover up the food you can buy for them.

I think that everyone goes here to experience the Peace...

I think that everyone goes here to experience the Peace Museum and the Peace Park, and we were no exception. Entry to the Museum was only 200 yen per person and we spent almost 2 hrs there. It is a very moving and sombre experience and everyone wanders through the museum in silence. The stories and images take some processing...on a similar level to the 9/11 museum in New York, and unless you have a heart of stone, you will be affected by the enormity and human tragedy of what happened on 6 Aug 1945 at 8.15. The Peace Park is beautifully laid out with the Atom Bomb Dome at the far end and many monuments to discover. It's really a must see if you have the time in your itinerary, and perhaps if all our World Leaders were made to take a tour, the world might be a safer place for future generations.

Everyone should visit Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) to see first hand ( via the excellent museum and various other memorials) the monstrous loss and suffering inflicted by the US's atom bomb (Little Boy) in August 1945. It beggars belief that a supposedly civilised nation could intentionally inflict such horrible suffering on another population, let alone a civilian one. Hiroshima presents the facts/realities in a restrained, unemotional way. The city itself was 90% obliterated so you won't find charming old architecture; but it is a pleasant enough city, and access to a couple of nearby islands adds to its attractiveness for a tourist.

Aside from the very impressive Peace Park and the Island of...

Aside from the very impressive Peace Park and the Island of Miyajima, there's not much else you HAVE to do after visiting other major cities. It's a nice city to walk around in, less crowded and busy then Tokyo or Osaka, but also less metropolitan if that's what you came for. A good starter city to get used to the bigger cities for sure. Public transport works well, but most sights are walking distance. The Castle, although closed, is still worth a quick look.

Hiroshima was a great end to our 2 weeks in Japan, a slower pace to relax and unwind from the endless subway, trains and walking we experienced in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Easy to walk around town and explore. So many people paying respect at the bomb dome and peace dome. The museum has a lot of artifacts from the time in history. The locals were very friendly and helpful during our stay. We will definitely be returning on our next visit.

Hiroshima is beautiful, much quieter then the bigger cities...

Hiroshima is beautiful, much quieter then the bigger cities like Tokyo and Osaka. The Peace Park and the Museum are simply amazing , sobering yet beautifully done. everyone should make an effort to see these reminders of what took place here. The food is great, Lemon Sours are my new favorite drink and going to a Carps game was a great experience! The people of Hiroshima are lovely.

Just a few minutes walk to the station, which is super convenient - also a short walk to the nearest tram stop for accessing the centre of Hiroshima if you don't fancy the walk. Quiet, very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was more like an apartment than a standard hotel room. Having a washing machine in the bathroom was also very useful. Large bathroom and separate toilet. Would definitely stay here again!

The location is probs lithe best in Hiroshima. The rooms are basic but really clean and all the little extras included are a really nice touch. It’s basically everything you need as you’re most likely spending your entire day out so it’s nice to come back to an excellently located clean and good value for money hotel.

The hotel offered a free guided tour of some of Hiroshima’s most significant landmarks, which was a wonderful experience. The breakfast and the room were both excellent. In addition, the hotel provides complimentary beverages during designated hours. Everything was perfect and I would gladly stay here again!
