We really enjoyed the gardens and markets, and had some excellent meals. There are also a couple of interesting historical parts that are worth visiting. We walked everywhere so had lots of free exercise!

Kanazawa enabled us to explore at a slower pace to previous places visited - Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto. Less people, less concrete and more green space was embraced by all our family. I felt a got a more authentic experience of Japan, definitely recommend!
A highlight for us was the restaurant Coil, were you make your own sushi rolls & dive into an extensive range of hot & cold teas.
Kanazawa Machiya Kenroku was an amazing experience & a highlight out of all the places we stayed.

The city offered a contrast to the big cities .
The city offered a contrast to the big cities . Nicely preserved neighbourhoods and gardens. But the locals are showing strains of having too many tourists.
The ratio in Tokyo is around 1 tourists to 50 locals, Kanazawa is closer 1 to 15 I estimate. Certainly Locals in Kanawaza were less welcoming. 2 restaurants added unexpected costs after the food was served, caviat emptor.

For foreign visitors, please enjoy the real Kanazawa culture. The foods are going to be more superficial in these days. Please not to try just Maccha (which can be found anywhere) but try original food in Kanazawa.
I am sad Kanazawa is becoming just like Kyoto and Asakusa.

Lovely castle grounds and beautiful park Kenro-ku next to it with old gnarly trees and bridges. Market with very fresh seafood. Lovely Chaya district with Kanazawa crafts. Yummy gold leaf covered ice cream. Very friendly people.

What a hotel! this hotel is right next to Kanazawa station so this means you have access to everything (shopping, trains, buses. etc) The room is very big compared to Japan standards and it also has a massage chair! this will come very handy when you get exhausted from walking all over town and need some relaxing time.
The bed was a king size bed so it was very comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious with excellent shower pressure.
Beautiful hotel. Tastefully decorated. It was our favourite stay while in Japan. The staff were so lovely. Breakfast was traditional and kept us going for our mornings out walking and sightseeing. The tea and coffee station in the reception area was fabulous. There was nothing we didn't like about Hotel Kanazawa Zoushi!
