Located on a hilltop, Petit Hotel Bistro Abalon features sweeping views of the ocean and Matsushima Islands, renowned as one of the Three Views of Japan. Quiet, small, friendly, clean, nice baths, best sleep I've had in months. We came for one night, stayed for two, and wished we could have stayed longer. Comfortable and peaceful. I look forward to returning.
Boasting a garden and a shared lounge, Hotel Ubudo is located in Matsushima and is 2953 feet from Entsuin Temple. The hotel is very nice and comfortable, beautiful rooms and a bathroom with a view. The hotel is very close to the red bridge leading to Fukuurajima and all the other attractions.
Resembling a Balinese resort, the Breezbay Seaside Resort in Matsushima offers massages, beauty treatments and tropical room decorations. The hotel found out that I had stayed there in 2018 so they went out of their way to welcome us back in 2019. We just reserved nabe dinner for 4. Instead they served us a feast of shabu shabu with wagyu beef and fresh oysters to welcome us back.
Uchi is located in Matsushima, 656 feet from Zuigan-ji Temple. Guests can enjoy beer and sake at the on-site bar while listening to music or watching TV in the common area. Everything. The property is clean and comfortable. The host is super friendly, speaks fluent English and gives personal attention to all guests. He makes sure that the guest are comfortable. He is an excellent resource to learn about the local area and Japanese culture. The location is walking distance to all the attraction. Another thing that we loved about this guesthouse. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!
Located in Matsushima, within a 17-minute walk of Entsuin Temple and 5 miles of Shiogama Fish market, Matsushima Komura provides accommodations with a garden and free WiFi throughout the property as... The owners were delightful and even came out to pick us up from the train station in the rain. This was my favorite hotel stay that I had on my trip to Japan. Matsushima was a fun little city. I can't say enough good things about this stay.
Matsushima Hotel Waraku is located in Matsushima, 5 miles from Shiogama Fish market and a 14-minute walk from Zuigan-ji Temple. Small but perfectly fine to stay. They offer a basic breakfast, but it is also possible to get food at the convenience store nearby and eat the dining room.
Located right in front of Matsushima Bay, Komatsukan Kofu-tei offers accommodations with free wired internet access. Elegant. Traditional Japanese hospitality in a beautiful setting. The multi-course dinner was a highlight. Public baths (and many rooms) have a stunning view of Matsushima Bay. Few staff speak English but it’s not a problem.
Not overtly impressed with the boat trip around the bay, but it may look better at other times of the day. The temples though were very interesting and worth visiting, and so was enjoying the oysters and other seafood in the fish market.
Boat cruise is a must. Beautiful! Food in the area was fantastic. Enjoyed dinner at Santori Chaya...had fried oysters. Also great to walk around Fukuurashima and Oshima. Both offer interesting photo opportunities. A longer walk ( and uphill) about 20 minutes to Sokanzan offers a beautiful panoramic overlook.
A charming seaside town that is a 30 minute train ride outside Ishinomaki. There are good restaurants, a few shops, and some wonderful shrines. The view from Saigyo Modoshi no Matsu Park is breathtaking!
Good view for a day trip. many nice cultural buildings, unfortunately many are under renovation. Better finding your dinner a bit early many places look good but close a bit early not many choices from after 6 pm
It was great. Getting there from the station was a quick 5 min taxi ride. I would not suggest walking there if you have much luggage. If you don't like seafood you may not want to have dinner here.
Great little seaside city with wonderful shops, restaurants and walking trails. There is plenty to do and the 40 min boat trip is the perfect length. Renting a boat could be fun. Beautiful islands and vistas from the short hikes.

View from the room is amazing. View of hot spring is also good. Staffs are very friendly. I left my wallet in the room when I checked out. I called the hotel and ask whether they can find it and keep it at the front desk. I went back the hotel 4 hours later, my wallet was found and well kept by the hotel. I really want to thank for all staffs.

It was a amazing experience. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We had a incredible view on the bay from our traditional Japanese room. We book for our free private session in the Onsen at the check-in. It was totally relaxing and Zen. I recommend this hotel if you want to experience a great Ryokkan.

An outstanding place to stay in a truly beautiful part of Japan. The building and facilities are a perfect mix of traditional and practically modern. But the most exceptional thing about Koumura is its owners, who are incredibly kind and hospitable.

The pools were lovely, the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a great selection of Japanese and European choices. Bedrooms and bathrooms satisfactory, like the complimentary room accessories. The view into the bay was incredible.

The owner was very nice helpful and talkative which was great for me because after 2 months of traveling alone in Japan I didn't care as much about the attractions but more about the people.

The helpful staff gave the stay a cosy familiarity and the exquisite, delicious japanese cuisine alone makes the trip there worthwile: just wonderful.

Half board dinner and breakfast were excellent. Arrived late due to weather and driving traffic, but hotel kindly accommodated late dinner for us.
