Ah, Mission Hills Hotel—where architectural ambition meets culinary despair. Upon entering, one is immediately struck by the foyer, which is not merely large, but cathedrally overwhelming. Truly, it’s a space so vast it makes you question your own significance in the universe. The restaurant is a marvel of potential. It could easily seat 200 guests. In practice, there were only six. The menu is a daring exploration of basic culinary inertia without any choices. Coffee is dispensed from a machine and charged extra.. The onsen refuses to awaken before 9 a.m., as does the room’s hot water supply. Heaven forbid a guest wishes to enjoy a morning soak and checkout is enforced with the precision of a Swiss watch at 10 a.m. sharp. Despite the hotel being a ghost town, there was no leniency. Mission Hills Hotel wears its 30-year history with an aura of “once-upon-a-time luxury”. One cannot help but admire the commitment to preserving the past—though one wishes that past had included edible meals and hot water on demand.

The staff met us up at the parking lot and led us to the hotel (which was a 1 min. walk) and gave us a quick tour of the facilities before checking in. The facilities are clean and nice. My friends and I enjoyed private bath even though only one person can use it at a time. The room is spacious and has complete amenities. The common lounge for breakfast was also nice because they have an espresso coffee, juices, bread, yogurt, jams and butter. The location is very accessible to the shops nearby.

The hostel privides basic but clean amenities, as well as some useful service, like lockers and breakfast. Although no staff always stay there, facility is well maintained and the video phone call system on ground floor made the stay smooth. Location is fine. it's near town center, so easy to visit some sightseeing spots in town, like Chichibu shrine, bamba street, matsuri kaikan, and meisen kan. It takes a 15 min walk from seibu station, may seems far but the way there through local shopping area, so it's fine. It's near a chichibu line station ohanabata, but the frequency is low.

The staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. They were accommodating of my requests. The location is great, close to everything. Nice breakfast and clean facilities. All in all very good value for the price. Some people complained in other posts about the beds being hard so I had that concern but actually I thought they were ok, soft but firm, just right, I slept fine.
