Well located and the historic neighborhood walking distance from almost every site. The bathroom building was very nice and modern and clean. The main house building was also very spacious and comfortable. The bikes were great for getting around town. And I absolutely loved the private Japanese garden in between the two buildings. even in the winter snow, it made it a delight to go back-and-forth between the two buildings to use the restroom or shower. I would have enjoyed staying another day. Thank you for offering such a restful and peaceful place to stay. I enjoyed my time here much more than I expected. It was lovely.

The home was beautiful and comfortable. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were helpful, friendly and kind. Everything we needed was provided. We were picked up at the train station and were able to pick up supplies on the way to the home. We had a very relaxing stay even though it rained the entire time. The host took us site seeing on the way back to the station and shared knowledge about the area and history. We had a fun time!

The check in instructions and directions were clear and correct. The apartment was spacious, very clean, and had all the amenities for a group of friends staying at a location for multiple nights and wanted to cook instead of eat out. The washing machine, bath, toilets, kitchen appliances, everything was top notch and had clear easy directions in English and multiple languages for all the guests. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and spotless, everything looked very new. For the location, we walked to the canals, the ropeway, la collima, and the JA market and stores. Kikis bakery and café was delicious!!

The house was exceptionally clean and well equipped. What was most impressive, however, was how responsive the host was. The host responded almost immediately to every email inquiry I had about the property. I would highly recommend this house to people who are visiting historic and lovely Omihachiman.

A quiet little town, a great place to visit to avoid the...

A quiet little town, a great place to visit to avoid the crowds of tourists. Make sure to take the rope-way to the top of Mount Hachiman for a breathtaking view of Lake Biwa and the surrounding area. Also a good place to try out the local Omi beef, one of Japan's top quality wagyu beef brands.

There are plenty of great places to visit here.

There are plenty of great places to visit here. The ruins and shrine at the top of Hachiman mountain (Hachimanyama) is well worth visiting, a trip on the canal is pleasant and the tile museum is much better than you would expect. If you want to be organised, I recommend that you make a reservation for lunch and/or dinner. Their specialty is beef but the fresh food is excellent as much of it is locally grown so it's super fresh and delicious.

No tourists, so perfect.

No tourists, so perfect. Half an hour from Kyoto by JR train. Lots of varied activities. Swimming in Lake Biwa, Mount Hachimanyama and its temple, boat trips on the canals, visits to old houses, etc.

Good point 1: La Collina Omihachiman.

Good point 1: La Collina Omihachiman. Multiple buildings were created with the same concept, making it feel like a fairy tale world. Playful gimmicks scattered throughout keep visitors entertained. Good point 2: Touring the Suigo Riverside by boat. There are two types of tours on small boats: one that tours the Suigo Riverside and one that tours the Hachimanbori Canal. I took the Suigo tour, and the vast marshes, intricate waterways, and ever-changing scenery were all wonderful. You can slowly row around on a Japanese boat. You can experience the natural beauty of Japan's Suigo Riverside.

A very pleasant little country town (which we were lucky...

A very pleasant little country town (which we were lucky enough to see covered in snow) near Lake Biwa. The historic center, crisscrossed by canals, is beautiful. Good restaurants and a superb pastry shop where I ate the best cheesecake of my life!

The overall atmosphere of the town is wonderful.

The overall atmosphere of the town is wonderful. The blend of old and new is wonderful. I could tell that everyone living (and working) in the town loves Omihachiman and wants to help develop it. I liked the unfamiliar, tourist-like atmosphere. Before I went, I had no idea it would be such a wonderful space. I recommend Himure Hachiman Shrine, Hori Meguri, Club Harie, Taneya, and Going Nuts' smoothies. The set meal at Shokudo Yaponesia was delicious, with fresh vegetables. The atmosphere is also wonderful. TWO RABBIT also serves delicious craft beer, and all of the cakes at amaimonya AI are delicious. The Voris architecture is simply magnificent. Since it was summer vacation, the view of the architecture from the outside, including the elementary, junior high, and high school, is still vibrant. Wright's shop was closed this time, but I'd like to visit it next time.
