Fabulous host, stunning location, great accommodation. Tomoko looked after us so well, dropped off some provisions, gave detailed advice of walks. We tried to use every bit of pottery during our five day stay but failed. What a selection. The views from the balcony were sublime, the remoteness a joy.

Staying in this beautiful, authentic house felt like stepping back in time, yet with all the modern comforts you need. We loved the fine details, the elegant sliding doors (fusuma), and the view of the small, private garden. It is rare to find a place with so much soul and tranquility in the heart of Shikoku. An absolute gem that we highly recommend to anyone seeking a genuine Japanese experience.

The CrossFit Tiny House was a charming little abode in the outskirts of Iya Valley. Connected to a well stocked CrossFit gym, it provided us with everything we needed, a well equipped kitchen, clean and comfortable bathing facilities, cozy sleeping and a peaceful environment to use as a base to explore the valley for a few days. We also participated in a mobility class in the gym free of charge as guests of the house and the owners were kind and helpful 🙂

Ryokan located near the Vine Bridge with a bus stop next to it. The landlady was really nice and friendly! I can speak a couple words in Japanese and tried to communicate in this language with her or the staff whenever I could ; she would speak English when it was hard to communicate. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and generous. I felt bad for not being able to eat everything. The room was spacious and they provided a yukata to wear in the ryokan.
