The hosts Yoshiko and David were incredibly friendly and caring. Breakfast served was wonderful, egg, fruit and yoghurt. The house had been carefully been renovated 5 years ago. The setting in the valley is wonderful. We could swim in the river just 2 min walk from the house.

This stay is beyond incredible. We have traveled to Japan so many times, but Kami and Nook's Kitchen can easily be the top of our list now. Everything is perfect – the house is a wonderful blend of traditional and modern. Naoko-san is the warmest, most caring, and knowledgable host. We had the best time in Kochi thanks to her.

Super comfortable hotel! Small room but everything is well laid out and thought through making it convenient and comfortable despite the space. Super clean hotel. The staff there is the friendliest i’ve met in Japan, coin laundry is easy to operate and there is a ladies only laundry room, all monitor-able from the comfort of your room from the tv screen. Coffee available at the lobby, Family Mart just downstairs and many restaurants and the hotel is right on the shopping street where the Sunday Market is too. My mum and i absolutely enjoyed our stay for 5 days here.

The breakfast was excellent; we enjoyed having Japanese style of breakfast. The hotel is close to the JR Kochi station, a walking distance from the bus terminal and the train station. I read some of the books in the library at the hotel and have learned more about Japanese arts and culture. The library, as well as a dinning room in the morning, is a cozy place for travelers to relax and to have a quality time by themselves.

The hotel offers perfect services, the staff is very nice and helpful, parking at the hotel is very convenient. The hotel has an excellent location with an amazing view of Dogo Onsen. It also has private elevator access to the main shopping district. The room was super clean and wonderfully designed. Everything was thought out to the last detail and had a very luxurious feel, from the balcony there is a great view of Dogo Onsen and all of Matsuyama with the castle and mountains in the distance. As part of the accommodation, you can visit the onsen on the top floor with an amazing view, or you can book a private onsen. We used this option and highly recommend it, everything was prepared, perfectly clean, an amazing experience. The rooms have a selection of traditional home clothes, including shoes, sorted by size. Live piano evenings in the hall are also a bonus. The stay at the hotel was perfect, both due to the professional approach of the staff and the great atmosphere. If you want to have a great experience of your stay in Matsuyama, definitely stay at this hotel. Thank you Katerina a Tobias

Jyoseikan was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The hotel has a traditional Japanese atmosphere while still feeling modern and well maintained. The staff were exceptionally attentive, warm, and professional throughout the stay. Their hospitality really stood out and made the experience feel welcoming and genuine. The onsen facilities were excellent and very relaxing after a long day of travelling and exploring Kochi. I also appreciated the thoughtful amenities, comfortable room, and calm atmosphere of the hotel. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good variety of local Japanese dishes.

Stopped here for the night after a long and tiring day's bike riding in the mountains. Lovely little basic log cabin by a gurgling stream. Two bunk beds, a sink and an enclosed toilet outside on the verandah. As there are no restaurants or shops nearby, the kind and chatty receptionist, who speaks very good English, went to great lengths to get me a microwaveable curry and rice for my dinner and made me a bento style breakfast, so I could make an early start in the morning. Above and beyond!

We stayed in the 8 bed dorm. Bed area had a light, shelve, a PowerPoint, 2 hooks and coat-hangers, space at the end of the bed for your pack and a privacy curtain. Super clean showers and toilets. Common area and full kitchen. Free tea, coffee and biscuits. Laundry Y300 each to wash and dry. Line outside for drying. Vending machines outside. Highly recommend staying here.

It's very easy to get to Kochi city after arriving at the...

It's very easy to get to Kochi city after arriving at the Kochi Ryoma airport. The airport bus takes about 30 minutes to the JR Kochi Station. Recommend first visiting the Tourist Office just outside the South exit. The best tourist office you'll ever want with literally tons of information in Japanese and English. The staff was very helpful and they can help with transportation details/bus schedules/discount passes, etc. Get the day-pass for use on the streetcars, it's a bargain at 500 yen as each ride normally costs 230 yen. If you are visiting the Ryoma Sakamoto museum/statue in Katsurahama and also the Makino Botanical Garden buy the Mi-yu bus pass for 1,300 yen (normally 1,900 yen) . These can be purchased at the Tourist Office.

It was a fantastic lovely and cosy and traditional japanese accomodation. I recommend it for everybody! Its surrounded by the beautiful Shimantoriver for walks, biketours and swimming in the summer. The host is so friendly and helpful. Just go there and see!

Kochi is a rocking town, lively and wonderful.

Kochi is a rocking town, lively and wonderful. I will bring my 27 year old daughter- she will love it. Dance, music, food- the city has it all, and its inhabitants know how to have a good time. Meeting people was very easy. I felt incredibly welcomed.

The people of Kochi are very friendly.

The people of Kochi are very friendly. I stumbled on a street festival and met dozens of locals. Excellent food and some great craft beers. Check out Blue Brew if you come across it. Some unusual beers made with ginger and pepper or sweet potato stout. You'll find some great places to eat on the back streets where the locals go.
