Many families visiting Sapporo loved staying at Miidokoro House Sapporo, The Base Sapporo Susukino, and Hotel Classe Stay Sapporo.
I enjoyed visiting the major sights such as the T.V. Tower, the Sapporo Beer Museum, Odori Park, Shiroi Koibito Park/ Ishiya Chocolate Factory , The Museum of Modern Art and the Susukino District. There's much more to see for sure, but so little time! lol. But in my short time there I enjoyed my experience very much! Wonderful City!
Early February (Suppose to coincide with the Sapporo Snow Festival 2022 but was canceled, so made it into a regular adventure). Top 3.5 Highlights: Hill of The Buddha As a Buddhist, this was a combination of beautiful architecture and structure. All year-round, I'm sure it would not be disappointing to visit. Spring with lavenders or winter with meters of snow. Sapporo Art Park (on the way from Hill of the Buddha) Limited access due to snow with the few outdoor sculptures hidden beneath meters of snow. They did have a wonderful snow shoeing activity in the morning and early afternoon. Although, would skip this place during the wintertime for the most part. Moerenuma Park - The Glass Pyramid Art Museum Accidentally walked from the closest bus stop to the west gate instead of the closest entrance at the east gate. What should've been a 15-minute walk turned into more than an hour of trudging around the outskirts of the park. The Museum was breathtaking and beautiful. It did remind me of the Le Louvre on a much smaller scale. Cafe and Restaurant were closed at the time but overall, I still enjoyed it. Mount Moiwa The observation deck was beautiful. Must-see. The night view was better than the one in Kobe (Mt. Rokko). Food Adventure: Hokkaido Milk (Hotcakes, Latte, Ice Cream, Parfait) Snow Crab Lunch Meal Course (Way cheaper than dinnertime) Fresh Seafood and Oysters Hokkaido Beef...etc. For first-time visitors to Japan, I recommend Sapporo first. It's an all-year-round destination with much to offer outside of shopping.
The people of Sapporo and Hokkaido are not your typical Japanese people. They are kind and hospitable like most Japanese but they are much more down-to-earth in Hokkaido. I really like Sapporo, a bit cold and a lot of snow, but I love this city.
The city itself doesn't have too many interesting landmarks, but it is a good place to stay if you are planning to explore Otaru and visit Hokkaido historical village. There are lots of great restaurants and gift shops, make sure you don't miss an opportunity to try local curry soup, ramen and mutton barbeque.
Sapporo has a very comfortable feel with wide streets, open spaces and plenty of greenery. Excellent food available at reasonable prices. It's easy to get around. Otaru is only 40 mins away by train and we enjoyed a day at the Sapporo Art Centre, just 30 mins by subway and bus. Because of the State of Emergency, many restaurants were closed and those open shut early. The Genghis Khan restaurant we were recommended (Daruma) was OK, but the meal was not as delicious as the last time I had it.
There are lots of activities for families and kids, though most indoor attrations are closed on Monday. The public transportation is all reliable, clean, and easy to use without being crowded like Tokyo
Sapporo
Location was really near JR Sapporo station, about 300 meters. We walked a lot around the area without the need to take subway. The hotel is very convenient esp when it is snowing heavily. The hotel staff were really friendly and can speak basic English. They are quite helpful too. The room was small, like all hotels in Japan but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The price was reasonable too considering other properties were expensive during the Snow festival week. We will definitely stay there again.
Great location. Near 狸小路(Tanukikoji) with 5-10 mins walk but also away from the busiest center so it's a quiet neighbourhood. Staff is helpful and friendly with the check-in process. Room is spacious, well equipped and clean. Although there is no free parking in the building, there're a few public car parks just across the road (suggest to check-in before evening as there are only few parking spaces in those car parks).
Excellent location, and the staff are amazing. They were willing to hail a taxi for me, even on a rainy night. The cloak room staff are kind and there's a bit of a nostalgic feel to the hotel. Everything is clean, but the kind yet refined attitude of the staff gives you a cool retro feel. The parking is underground, and the staff there are friendly too. Having underground parking is a major plus in snowy Sapporo.
The location was perfect. Just a 5 minute walk in a straight line to Sapporo station and there’s also a convenience store across the road. All staff members were extremely polite and friendly and they did their best to communicate with me in English. The hotel was also very quick at responding to my email requests and messages. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough.
The hotel is very new, well located near Nakajima park Station, and within walking distance to Susikino area. The bathroom is of reasonable size and clean. Staff are helpful as well. We did 2 separate stays in this hotel and they allowed us to leave our bigger luggage at the hotel until our second visit. This is a huge plus in easing our traveling out of Sapporo.
The front desk staff were very accommodating. And it wasn’t just that the Japanese are known to be a very polite and nice people, because even the non-Japanese personnel were equally hospitable. From the front desk, to the housekeeping, to the dining staff, everybody. The greatest strength of Royton Sapporo Hotel is its people.
The location is excellent, just a short walk to Sapporo station. So very handy to shopping, restaurants and transportation. The rooms are clean and tidy, the beds are comfortable and the buffet breakfast is excellent value. Other hotels in Sapporo have larger rooms, but the location of this hotel is hard to beat.
Before our trip, we've asked for the room with Odori park view. Somehow I've forgotten about it but on the hotel did their best to fulfill our request! Big love to this place. Very convenient to go around sapporo. Subway station is just a few blocks away. The place is clean and comfy. Highly recommend!
Very classic business hotel, not the best Japanese experience, but really comfortable after a 1-week road trip in Hokkaido. The room was clean and very nice, with nice lightnings. The location was perfect, next to the station and Odori park, in the heart of Sapporo. Lots of good restaurants around.
We came for the Sapporo Snow Festival and that hotel was perfect for us! Good location, the staff, the view of falling snow from our window 😻 the room Is beautiful and cozy And the nespresso coffee machine was a nice touch.
Within walking distance from main shopping area and has two 24 hours convenience stores across the road from the hotel. The buffet breakfast was really good with lots of varieties and the staff were very friendly.
Location is near from center of town. Near to the station, restaurant and iconic place. Very comfortable, clean, and smell good. The most I like in Mercure hotel is bathroom amnities.
The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a good location within short walking distance to Susukino and restaurants. It's across from KING XMHU Night Club.
The hotel was perfect. The locations and the staff were really helpful. Definitely is good spot to hang around Sapporo.
The hotel is next to station and Nakajima Park. There is a coffee shop at lobby and lawson just across the street
Great location, beautiful park across the road and close to a subway station
The hotel is very clean and is located near Sapporo station.
The location is just a few minutes walking from Sapporo station. The bed area got enough space.its much bigger than capsule hostel. You could even put your suitcase inside. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. It’s good value for what you pay in Japan.
Shopping street nearby, close to Odori Park that have great illumination.
Location, service level, staff attitude and great food
