I enjoyed visiting the major sights such as the T.V. Tower, the Sapporo Beer Museum, Odori Park, Shiroi Koibito Park/ Ishiya Chocolate Factory , The Museum of Modern Art and the Susukino District. There's much more to see for sure, but so little time! lol. But in my short time there I enjoyed my experience very much! Wonderful City!
Early February (Suppose to coincide with the Sapporo Snow Festival 2022 but was canceled, so made it into a regular adventure). Top 3.5 Highlights: Hill of The Buddha As a Buddhist, this was a combination of beautiful architecture and structure. All year-round, I'm sure it would not be disappointing to visit. Spring with lavenders or winter with meters of snow. Sapporo Art Park (on the way from Hill of the Buddha) Limited access due to snow with the few outdoor sculptures hidden beneath meters of snow. They did have a wonderful snow shoeing activity in the morning and early afternoon. Although, would skip this place during the wintertime for the most part. Moerenuma Park - The Glass Pyramid Art Museum Accidentally walked from the closest bus stop to the west gate instead of the closest entrance at the east gate. What should've been a 15-minute walk turned into more than an hour of trudging around the outskirts of the park. The Museum was breathtaking and beautiful. It did remind me of the Le Louvre on a much smaller scale. Cafe and Restaurant were closed at the time but overall, I still enjoyed it. Mount Moiwa The observation deck was beautiful. Must-see. The night view was better than the one in Kobe (Mt. Rokko). Food Adventure: Hokkaido Milk (Hotcakes, Latte, Ice Cream, Parfait) Snow Crab Lunch Meal Course (Way cheaper than dinnertime) Fresh Seafood and Oysters Hokkaido Beef...etc. For first-time visitors to Japan, I recommend Sapporo first. It's an all-year-round destination with much to offer outside of shopping.
The people of Sapporo and Hokkaido are not your typical Japanese people. They are kind and hospitable like most Japanese but they are much more down-to-earth in Hokkaido. I really like Sapporo, a bit cold and a lot of snow, but I love this city.
The city itself doesn't have too many interesting landmarks, but it is a good place to stay if you are planning to explore Otaru and visit Hokkaido historical village. There are lots of great restaurants and gift shops, make sure you don't miss an opportunity to try local curry soup, ramen and mutton barbeque.
Sapporo has a very comfortable feel with wide streets, open spaces and plenty of greenery. Excellent food available at reasonable prices. It's easy to get around. Otaru is only 40 mins away by train and we enjoyed a day at the Sapporo Art Centre, just 30 mins by subway and bus. Because of the State of Emergency, many restaurants were closed and those open shut early. The Genghis Khan restaurant we were recommended (Daruma) was OK, but the meal was not as delicious as the last time I had it.
There are lots of activities for families and kids, though most indoor attrations are closed on Monday. The public transportation is all reliable, clean, and easy to use without being crowded like Tokyo
It was very easy to find the hotel--15-minute walk from where the airport bus stops and 5-minute walk from Nakajima Park Station. Checking in was smooth as it didn't take much of our time because we had to leave immediately to go to the Beer Garden. Checking out was also convenient. There weren't many stores around the area though but it's okay because there's 7/11 across the street. The public bath was amazing as well. There were a lot of choices for breakfast and the viands were all delicious.
New hotel with good facilities and great location. The hotel located near JR Sapporo Station North Exit just 5-10 minutes walk and diagonally from the Hokkaido University. The room was new, clean and comfortable. The onsen was free, which was awesome. The staffs were friendly and helpful and spoke English very well. The breakfast buffet was delicious. However, you can also exchange breakfast buffet at the hotel to breakfast set meal at Kitanogurume with free shuttle bus from the hotel.
Large hotel only a short walk from the restaurant/ nightlife area of Sapporo. Very helpful friendly staff who spoke English. They helped us make a reservation for a restaurant and book a bus ticket. Large variety of choice at the breakfast buffet. We had a pizza from one of the hotel restaurants which was really good. There is a small convenience/ souvenir store in the hotel and a Lawson’s convenience store across the street. Room and bathroom were quite large for Japan.
Stuff are all friendly. Hotel desigh is cool, give you a cozy feeling. Number of beds in dormitory are perfect. I love local vibes and peaceful neighborhood. Family Mart is just across the street, plus Max Value Supermarket in the train station. It's only 3-5 min by walk, exit 3 with elevator. Exit 2 is the nearest exit, You can walk through Max Value Supermarket. There's cafe' in the moring and bar in the evening. You can check their IG to see how cool the place is.
I have stayed this hotel several times, but this time I got upgraded to double room and it was sooo nice. Very clean and comfortable. Facilities and amenities were fantastic. This hotel is my choice of stay when I go Sapporo. It’s few min walk to centre of city. Staff are great and they have English specking staff. Especially the staff from india sorry I forgot his name is always looking after us. Thank you a lot. Will see you again soon.
Excellent location, and the staff are amazing. They were willing to hail a taxi for me, even on a rainy night. The cloak room staff are kind and there's a bit of a nostalgic feel to the hotel. Everything is clean, but the kind yet refined attitude of the staff gives you a cool retro feel. The parking is underground, and the staff there are friendly too. Having underground parking is a major plus in snowy Sapporo.
value for money whenever I travel to Japan my first choice of hotel is APA, as it is very convenient you can find the microwave and ice machine in the hotel where you can warm your take out food. location is in the center of Sapporo it's very near in Odori park, old govt office Sapporo stations, tannukoji market, and a lot more site seeing.
Perfect location. The Norbesa mall is just across the street. It has a back door access that leads to Tanukikoji shopping street. The ECO stay option is a good way to encourage guests to enjoy their hotel stays while helping save the environment by refusing linen change during stay in exchange for ECO coins. Use these coins for free drinks.
its very near from all the areas we wanted to go like Odori Park, Market, Donquijote, Daiso, Mcdonalds, family mart, mos burger, shopping areas, Ohsho restaurant and Odori Station... very convenient place will definitely go back to this hotel when we get back to Sapporo 😊
Nice view as the hotel is situated across the street from the Nakajima park. Room was cleaned. The hotel is just less than 5 mins walk to Horohibarashi train station (Namboku line).
Location was fantastic. Was only passing through Sapporo going to Niseko, but will definitely spend more time in Sapporo next time and stay at Mercure again.
Good facilities with big bathtubs. Great view from it. To explore Sapporo city ina short period Cross Hotel has the best location^^!
I like the room, big space and modern. Convenient store across the hotel.
Sapporo
Everything else - great hotel in the middle of Sapporo
The family suite was very spacious. Space was perfect for 2 adults and 3 kids (11, 3, 1). Kids loved the bunk beds. Bedding was comfortable and clean. We didn’t get to try the free wine service because we were out enjoying Sapporo. Check-in was ok. Couldn’t use my debit/credit card. It was no big deal. Ended up paying cash. Staff was very friendly. We got PJs, both nights we stayed. Water pressure was amazing and room amenities were plenty. Bottled water in the fridge was perfect for the hot days. I was surprised there was a stove and toaster in the room. Toilet and shower were separated. Air conditioning was perfect in the room. Easy access to subway station, 5 min walk only! Check out was smooth. I was skeptical on the breakfast. I was amazed. Very delicious and different everyday. Local products used. Definitely worth getting. Gets delivered to your room. I opened the door and it’s in front of your door before 7:30am. We will definitely stay here again if we go to Sapporo!!!!
Stay in club service room on 4/f. So nice! Even have fresh flowers! Love the free mini bar in room, snacks and wine in the lounge! My child loves the chocolate and sweet and ice-cream
I love this hotel, Room very clean and Good Hotel The best service and i can recommend this Hotel I will be back to stay again Thank you
The staffs were friendly, also a free welcome drink in the bar. The dormitory was comfortable and clean.
Excellent service, best onsen in a city hotel, location is very central
