Sapporo City Centre, Susukino, and Kita Ward are popular with other travelers visiting Sapporo.
Many families visiting Sapporo loved staying at Miidokoro House Sapporo, The Base Sapporo Susukino, and The Apartment Hotels YAMA.
I enjoyed visiting the major sights such as the T.V. Tower, the Sapporo Beer Museum, Odori Park, Shiroi Koibito Park/ Ishiya Chocolate Factory , The Museum of Modern Art and the Susukino District. There's much more to see for sure, but so little time! lol. But in my short time there I enjoyed my experience very much! Wonderful City!
Early February (Suppose to coincide with the Sapporo Snow Festival 2022 but was canceled, so made it into a regular adventure). Top 3.5 Highlights: Hill of The Buddha As a Buddhist, this was a combination of beautiful architecture and structure. All year-round, I'm sure it would not be disappointing to visit. Spring with lavenders or winter with meters of snow. Sapporo Art Park (on the way from Hill of the Buddha) Limited access due to snow with the few outdoor sculptures hidden beneath meters of snow. They did have a wonderful snow shoeing activity in the morning and early afternoon. Although, would skip this place during the wintertime for the most part. Moerenuma Park - The Glass Pyramid Art Museum Accidentally walked from the closest bus stop to the west gate instead of the closest entrance at the east gate. What should've been a 15-minute walk turned into more than an hour of trudging around the outskirts of the park. The Museum was breathtaking and beautiful. It did remind me of the Le Louvre on a much smaller scale. Cafe and Restaurant were closed at the time but overall, I still enjoyed it. Mount Moiwa The observation deck was beautiful. Must-see. The night view was better than the one in Kobe (Mt. Rokko). Food Adventure: Hokkaido Milk (Hotcakes, Latte, Ice Cream, Parfait) Snow Crab Lunch Meal Course (Way cheaper than dinnertime) Fresh Seafood and Oysters Hokkaido Beef...etc. For first-time visitors to Japan, I recommend Sapporo first. It's an all-year-round destination with much to offer outside of shopping.
The people of Sapporo and Hokkaido are not your typical Japanese people. They are kind and hospitable like most Japanese but they are much more down-to-earth in Hokkaido. I really like Sapporo, a bit cold and a lot of snow, but I love this city.
The city itself doesn't have too many interesting landmarks, but it is a good place to stay if you are planning to explore Otaru and visit Hokkaido historical village. There are lots of great restaurants and gift shops, make sure you don't miss an opportunity to try local curry soup, ramen and mutton barbeque.
Sapporo has a very comfortable feel with wide streets, open spaces and plenty of greenery. Excellent food available at reasonable prices. It's easy to get around. Otaru is only 40 mins away by train and we enjoyed a day at the Sapporo Art Centre, just 30 mins by subway and bus. Because of the State of Emergency, many restaurants were closed and those open shut early. The Genghis Khan restaurant we were recommended (Daruma) was OK, but the meal was not as delicious as the last time I had it.
There are lots of activities for families and kids, though most indoor attrations are closed on Monday. The public transportation is all reliable, clean, and easy to use without being crowded like Tokyo
Very good location - less than 10 min walk to JR station, Paseo, Daimaru; less than 15 min walk to JR Tower, Stella Place, Esta. Many shops and restaurants in these places. Many places of interest are also within 15 to 30 min walk. A convenience store is across the road. Excellent service. Very clean room and very comfortable bed and pillow. Toyota Car Rental shop is in the basement and the car park where the car is picked up from is connected to the hotel. Very convenient. We really like this hotel.
I was upgraded to a bigger room for twin sharing which was just right for 2 person. Location is excellent. Walking distance to sapporo station and stellar place. Parking in the building was well organized and managed through an automated lift system. Surprise hotel wanted to charge extra parking fees when I arrive 30 mins before their check in time. I was already charged daily parking rate.
The location of the hotel is simply perfect for the Sapporo city area and the Deluxe Twin Room is very spacious, easily accommodating a family of 4, and it was very clean. There is a very convenient paid parking next to the property. The reception desk staff were very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely return to it when I visit Sapporo again.
The location is just 5 minutes walk from sapporo station North Exit. And it also close to the Shinkansen terminal! And within the sapporo station you literally can walk to all the main area in sapporo (odori park, TV Tower, Old Clock, Red Brick, etc) using the underground station walkway! The hotel had enough space and its very clean, definetly comeback!
Perfect location. The Norbesa mall is just across the street. It has a back door access that leads to Tanukikoji shopping street. The ECO stay option is a good way to encourage guests to enjoy their hotel stays while helping save the environment by refusing linen change during stay in exchange for ECO coins. Use these coins for free drinks.
Location excellent. Just walking distance to Tanukikoji shopping street and Odori Park. The hotel looks so new and things are clean. Rooms and beds are bigger than expected. And service as from parking, front desk to facilities all excellent. Definitely would stay should come to Sapporo next time.
One of the best hotel in Sapporo for sure! really near the station, the room was spacious and clean, the staffs were very accommodating. The bus that goes directly to Shin Chitose Airport was very nearby as well.
Good-sized bedrooms, and very clean as well. Friendly staff. Excellent location Odori Park is located right outside the hotel. 15-minute walk from Sapporo Station. Short walk from Susukino and Tanukikochi.
The location was great although the cab drivers didn't exactly know it as the Hotel Mystays Susukino--they had to make sure about the address since there's a number of Hotel Mystays in Sapporo
Sapporo
The location was across the road from a subway, so this made it easy to travel around Sapporo. The rooms were very clean, quiet, and most importantly well heated. I would stay here again.
Great location, only a few minutes to Sapporo station and a couple of minutes to Odori-park. Hotel is quite modern and very clean, well maintained. Check in was smooth hassle-free.
The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a good location within short walking distance to Susukino and restaurants. It's across from KING XMHU Night Club.
The staff was very helpful even though we didn’t speak Japanese. Location is great just accross the Sapporo station.
Sapporo
Clean and modern hotel, 10 min walk to Sapporo train station. Staff were very helpful and good amenities near by.
Great location, beautiful park across the road and close to a subway station
The location was great - just between the main subway station and the main train station and either could be accessed underground (good in inclement weather). Also the bus from new Chitose airport stopped right at the hotel. There were so many choices for breakfast and everything we had was great. Breakfast was great - so many choices both Japanese and western and had locally grown items.
The staffs were friendly, also a free welcome drink in the bar. The dormitory was comfortable and clean.
Shopping street nearby, close to Odori Park that have great illumination.
Location, service level, staff attitude and great food
