Sapporo hosts the University of Hokkaido, one of the better universities of Japan. Its campus is absolutely stunning. Many locals go for a morning stroll in the avenues of the campus. Apart from university life, Sapporo offers the best sushi of Japan, at highly affordable prices. The electronics mega-stores are not less equipped than those in Tokyo. Green tea ice cream is highly recommended.

Not much to see in Sapporo.

Not much to see in Sapporo. (1) Blue Lake takes 3-4 hours one way. (2) Jozankei is a hot spring town thats not really scenic. (3) Otaru is an old canning town that has converted most of its old facilities into shops. VERY touristy. If you have limited time and you havent been to Japan I would skip Sapporo. Im touring Japan for 3 months, have been to Japan over 10 times and this is my first visit to Sapporo 😎

My favorite city in Japan! So easy to walk all over.

My favorite city in Japan! So easy to walk all over. I especially like 1) Hokkaido University campus, 2) underground walk from Sapporo Station to Poletown, 3) Tanukikoji covered Shopping Street, 4)Sapporo Beer Museum, 5) Maruyama Zoo, 6) Okurayama Observatory Lift and Olympic Museum. The #1 highlight was visiting Nippon Ham Fighters Stadium and F-Village in Kitahiroshima on pre-Halloween weekend. Convenient Shuttle Bus, but also easy walk from KItahiroshima Station. Congratulations on building the best baseball park in the world. .

Sapporo is in many ways a different city than others in...

Sapporo is in many ways a different city than others in Japan. First, it has space! So the roads, cars, houses are far larger then in the rest of Japan. It is a city made for the cold so there are massive underground walkways who are wide, well lit and it can house complete shopping malls. They have them in other cities as well, but Sapporo has all of them beat. This is the first city in Japan I felt you can get a car to go around. Public transport is also great but there are quite a few sights around Sapporo that are harder to get by with PT. Food options are a little more limited than in other cities, it is clearly more a winter sports city than a cultural of touristic one. The people seem to be more at ease and laid back than the other cities.

This was our first trip to Hokkaido (we were there in...

This was our first trip to Hokkaido (we were there in September) and we did not want to drive so we settled on Sapporo from where we took day trips to places like Otaru, Lake Toya, Asahikawa and so on. Quite convenient by rail (especially with a JR Pass and free reserved seats). Perhaps if we were to do it again, we would spend maybe 3 days in Lake Toya or Otaru (we like nature/ more rustic spots) and then the rest in Sapporo, or if there was more time another stop further north. We could not explore the extreme east and north because traveling time by train is generally about 5 to 6 hours so day trips are not an option. Sapporo has many great places to eat. A must try is Ramen Alley. we were also fortunate that it was the Autumn Festival so many of the parks (like Odori Park and Sapporo Riverside) were filled with small eateries so you could sample Hokkaido food. The beer is a must try and the visit to the brewery is well worth it.

It is a different place when compare with Tokyo, and Osaka.

It is a different place when compare with Tokyo, and Osaka. Which it has its own characters as city is less busy and crowded. 4 seasons are very distinct and can be extreme though summer is less husher than many other prefectures. Certainty enjoyed very much due to its beautiful, clean and friendly. U can commute easily with its public transportations although the subway and JR can pose some challenges if U r not use to such a complexity as the scale is huge, is like another city by itself.

The LOCATION was its prime asset. Especially in winter, this was the best thing about our choice for this booking. The Higashi Honganji-Mae tram station was right beside it making movement around Sapporo very convenient. Walking to Susukino area was also a breeze. There was a Family Mart right across and a bigger Dinner Bell grocery at the adjacent corner. The winter view from the 6th floor was beautiful. For the New Year, the Higashi Hongan-ji Temple right across the property was ideal for the traditional bell-ringing ceremony, Joya no kane.

Reasonable location 10mins walk from Sapporo Central on the North Side - A little far out of the City Centre, (45mins walk) but easily reached by metro or taxi. Hotel is brand new, so as you would expect, very clean and fresh. Whilst rooms are not big by European standards, they are very well laid out and I have stayed in a couple of variations of them and they are all very practical. There is high stack parking at the rear of the hotel, though it can take some time to recover your car during busy times.

Hotel and room has a hip vibe with a great view of the Sapporo TV Tower and the east end of Odori Park from the room window. Room included a fabric refresher spray, water boiler for tea, and a record player for which you can borrow records to play on. Right next to Aurora Town entrance and across the street feom Odori Park. Comfy bed and pillows. I likes the provided body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Definitely feels like a hotel room and not a dorm.

The rooms was big and clean. All items will be labelled "sterilized" and that makes us very assured with their cleanliness. Loves the big bathtup, and not to forget the big windows in the grand floor. Great breakfast, lots of choices even for muslim (it is hard to find hotel breakfast menu that we can eat) They also provide parking 1500yen per day. It is better to use their parking especially during the winter, more secure and safe.

Great stay in Susukino, we stayed here for around 3 nights. Lots of great restaurants and shops in the area- we wanted to eat delicacies in sapporo like sapporo ramen, soup curry and pork bowl, and we could find all of these were within 10 mins walk from the hotel. The room was clean and the bathtub in the bathroom was very deep which was nice. Check in and check out was smooth, and staff were polite and helpful.
