As the hotel is classified as a business hotel I expected a small but comfortable room as per the usual Japanese business hotel. However the twin room we were given was the biggest room I've experienced in Japan for this type of hotel! Even the toilet was spacious in comparison to many others I've come across in business hotels. The breakfast provided was buffet style and was of a high quality and very generous in the amount of food and variety provided. The location of the hotel was almost perfect being only 5 minutes walk from the station and 1 minute to a large supermarket. In addition all the sites to see were very close by. Being of larger Western body type I especially enjoyed the provision of a yukata size that actually fitted me well. Thanks New Palace!!

I found the hotel very nice and this for a cheap price. I did mistaken the booking date and although free cancaltion was passed i was still allowed to change my date without additional charges

Excellent location. Less than 10 minutes walk to Shingu Station and Lawson. The place is clean and comfortable. You basically have your own private space as there is only one other guest room. The owner was warm, friendly and welcoming. Language barrier isn't a problem thanks to the translation apps. She also runs a small store on the first floor selling manju, unfortunately I didn't get to try as it only opened at 11am.

The house is clean and cozy. Close to the convenience store and walkable to the JR station. The host is very warm & helpful. Highly recommended for trips to Shingu!

Although I was alone when I stayed, I saw how everything was well organized, and made for people to be able to spend time together in the kitchen or in the shared living room. Boxes to stock stuff are available too so you don’t bother the roommates. The house was super well renovated and everything was practical and clean. The bento boxes that are available are delicious so don’t hesitate to order it. Take the Wagyu Yakiniku bento !!! The staff were also super nice and friendly and took the time to show me around the village and the river, which was really refreshing in the summer period. The owner also came and we had a long interesting conversation about many things. If you like football, you will have a lot to talk with him!

A recently renovated guest house, Pilgrims Joe offers accommodation in Shingu. The property has quiet street views.
