During my Izu trip, I stayed at several hotels — from business hotels like Toyoko Inn to hot spring ryokans where you can soak in open-air baths by the sea. Each had its own charm, but the one that left me with the best memories is undoubtedly Bali Moon. It feels more like a guesthouse than a hotel — no conference rooms, no swimming pool, just a small number of rooms. But the rooms are spotlessly clean, the location is convenient, and the price is very reasonable. If you're visiting Toi, this place is truly a wonderful choice. That said, the accommodations alone wouldn't have made it so memorable. I was lucky enough to get to know the owner, who, as it turned out, had worked in my hometown for many years. He's a wonderfully funny and talkative person, and we talked for a long time. Through our conversations, I gained a fresh perspective on my own hometown, and learned about the local culture and life of Toi and the broader Izu Peninsula — the kind of insight you could never get at a large hotel. If I have the chance, I'd love to stay here again, and I'd recommend it to every traveler who passes through.
