We only spent a day there, which seemed to be enough to explore the town. It is a tranquil town with lots of places with onsens, although the main street would be busy usually with tourists - but we love the vibe there nonetheless! Easy to get to by train. We simply spent the day eating snacks on the main street and went to the Kirin Lake for a brief walk. If I had stayed for longer I'd probably have tried out more restaurants and did some short hikes.
From the Train Station to Kinrin Lake, it's a short distance only 30 minutes on foot, but it was the longest walk ever i have made through my KYUSHU stay, because that 30 minutes becomes 5 hours. I've filled my eyes with serene views, my phone with pictures, and my stomach with food that i can not even pronounce the names, i love the potato cake and the grilled squid on the way to Kinrin Lake (i tried everything!). Special mention is the the Totorro shop, I stayed there for an hour, I enjoyed finding the characters scattered at the store front. Over all it was FUN!!!
Yufu is a small town with nice hot spring. We spend two nights there, the first day, we enjoyed a bit the area surrounding the train station, when the weather is not so good, you can walk around to experience the Japanese spirit. The second day, we visit the famous lake, on the path to the lake, we visited many shops with all kinds of delicate Japanese goods. The final day, the weather was perfect, the snow on the Yufu maintain wad so wonderful. We had so much fun at Yufu.
Lovely little quaint town ...just so peaceful and beautiful. So many goodies, food and craft shops to walk around. I would think Yufu is best for one who just needs quiet, relax time to unwind from the city. The place is so perfect for couples esp honey mooners and oldies...in the nature with many different colour mountains in the backdrop. Highly recommend for everyone!
A nice ryokan for family of 4. Room is big and the private onsen in the room is great choice . In the evening , the staff Will make two tatami bed for the children and still hv room to move around . Massage chair in the room helped us to relax after a long day exploring the Yufuin area . Taxi to hotel from station is about ¥1100 . V near to Yufuin station
The street of shops and restaurants was the main draw. There's so much to see and do. The Kinrin lake was beautiful in the early morning, with mist floating on the water. The surrounding is very pleasant to walk around.
The private onsen - this is why you'd want to book this hotel. It doesn't matter whether it is mountain view (there is a road nearby) or a city view (you will have to walk further from the reception), you will get the privacy and the hot tub all to yourself. You can watch stars, get some tea on your veranda. The breakfast is Japanese, of course, lots of small plates, miso, rice, plenty of food. It is already served on the table when you come.
Quiet, but you need to be quiet as a guest, because it is in a residential house turned hotel, and the walls of the rooms are thin. It's cheap for Yufuin. It's clean. Basic rooms, traditional Japanese style, i.e. no beds, but mattress on the floor. Friendly staff, who are the owners. They do not speak English. It has a tiny onsen in the back yard for guests.
Location is good, just walk 10-15 mins along the main street from Yufuin Station. Although there was no beautiful view outside the room and onsen, they were clean and comfortable. Moreover, the foods and staffs (especially Ms. Matsushita) were excellent too! Very good experiment for me!
Our group of 12 liked everything, the whole experience was just great and memorable. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and some spoke good english. The dinner and breakfast were wonderful. There are 3 private onsen for booking and a public one for all to use. Thumbs UP!
Everything is calm and thoughtful. The receptionist / manager was brilliant. The time were large and clean and beautiful. The private onsens were amazing, as was the public onsen. Breakfast was outstanding. I'd highly recommend this place!
Good location, close to shopping, trails, Kirkin lake and Mt Yufu. Many onsen choices on site. Very friendly staff and they serve dinner in your room, with 10+ courses. One of the best onsen resorts in Japan.
Yufuin Lamp no Yado is really nice place. All onsen are good as well as the room. We really love private onsen. Free drink is also cool. We didn't have dinner and breakfast. But, overall are great.
Staff are very friendly and helpful Have two small onsen, the semi-open one is very nice Very close to the tourism attractions in Yufuin, especially the Kinrin Lake
Nice private onsen, nice living area in Yufuin, we could walk there from the train station, about 20 to 30 min
Clean and large room, private onsen is good
Private Onsen and Free Bicycle Rentals.
This is the 2nd time for me to stay in the lovely Japanese style hotel. The service quality and half board food quality are superb. The room has two floors with private indoor and outdoor hot spring, you can enjoy the hot springs while keeping privacy. Room is very spacious and comfortable. The location is also very good, near the lake and also very quiet. Overall it was a lovely stay!
I love everything about the ryokan. The private onsen was relaxing, there are 4 onsen to enjoy plus 1 private onsen inside the room. The staff and the dinner was excellent. The facilities and amenities are top notch! They really provide everything we need during our stay. It was a pleasant stay.
Fantastic room with a private onsen! Delicious meal and staff that accomodated dietary restrictions! Staff spoke English.
Last time I used it in the main building and this time in the annex. The location is the best. When I looked into the morning window on the "city view" side, I could see the morning mist of Yufu. I'm worried if it's
The food was very good and the staff were polite and very satisfied. The bath can be reserved for free with the family, and the quality of the spring was excellent.
The color and taste of the hearth, popcorn and hot spring egg dishes that started at 20:00 were very good. The correspondence of the staff was very good.
The view from the window, the mountains were seen, and the best hot springs were good. I was able to go to the main street on a slippery walk.
