The view from the room balcony was beautiful. Facilities were newly built and very clean. Private hot spring bath was big and comfy. Owners were very nice making us feel very welcomed.

I arrived in Fukuoka on a day where almost 500 flights were cancelled back at home due to typhoon Saola, so getting to Enowa Yufuin was such a gift and blessing. Style. Contemporary, minimalist & elegant hotel with an art gallery aesthetic Setting. Calming little spot near Mount Yufu, yet only 5 minutes drive away from downtown Explore. Wander pretty Yufuin downtown for cute shops & food, the Kengo Kuma Comico Art Museum. Beppu is a 30 minutes drive away Rooms. My room (202) had a semi outdoor hot spring which I soaked in while listening to the rustling of leaves, it wasn’t quite as hot as I would like but maybe they dialed down the temperature because of me. There was an unexpected and calming rock plant in the sleek room. @ the hotel. Tranquil vibe. Sustainably minded amenities, no single use plastics. Loved the super thoughtful staff here too. Food & drinks @ Restaurant Jimgu. A beautiful, creative, & whimsical farm driven tasting menu served on exquisite tableware, paired with interesting sake, wine & etc picked by Makoto Tominaga, even peppermint tea was above par as were from freshly plucked leaves. Friendly & talented Tashi Gyamtso is a fantastic chef with Blue Hill @ Stone Barns & Kikunoi Honten pedigree Prices. Not cheap @ $947 for entry level rooms to $2400 for pool villa but price did include the fabulous and delicious dinner experience Rating. 5/5 I’ve stayed in 3 hotels in nearby Beppu before but if I am ever in this area again, coming back here is a no brainer !

We stayed room with private onsen. It was so nice and calm. Also public onsen is so nice and our all family loved there. Japanese style dinner and morning was nice too. I expect to visit again!

Yufu is one of those places where the place itself is wonderful but the vibe from other tourists and angry, upset staff members in shops can really darken an otherwise bright experience. It reminded me a lot of Kyoto in that way. The place, the shops, the scenery are all great... but tourists tend to be pushy, demanding, selfish, etc. And this leads many of the staff of establishments to be cold, distant, or upset; and rightfully so. I would like to go back there and spend more time at one of the inns. The staff there are usually very kind and helpful, and the spaces are very comfortable. We stay in Yufuin for 2 days, but travel 1 day to Beppu and the other in Yufuin. Yufuin is an absolutely lovely place. Every thing is so cute! And a lot of street food along the way. The best thing is Onsen Ryokan! Don't miss to enjoy traditional Japanese style accommodation. The thing I don't like here is that shops mostly close around 5PM, staff (both in hotel and shop) don't really speak English. They will try to explain to you, but in Japanese TT Also, trash bins are hard to find along the street. I really enjoy the accommodation here, and the city is just too cute. You can take photos in almost every corner. This city is a MUST!

Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place.
Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place. The main shopping street Yunotubo is cosy and easy to stroll. There are many good cafes along the way. We enjoyed very much cafe Pepper and Anahata. Watch out for unusual snow that blocked the highway from Hakata to Yufuin. Otherwise it is easy to get to.

We only spent a day there, which seemed to be enough to explore the town. It is a tranquil town with lots of places with onsens, although the main street would be busy usually with tourists - but we love the vibe there nonetheless! Easy to get to by train. We simply spent the day eating snacks on the main street and went to the Kirin Lake for a brief walk. If I had stayed for longer I'd probably have tried out more restaurants and did some short hikes.

The main shopping street is only a short walk away, too, which means you can easily explore all the shops and restaurants. There's also a lovely little outdoor onsen. When I was there, I had it to myself, which was extra special. The staff are very friendly and accommodating!
