This is not a four star hotel!! This hotel should stop misleading its guests. The rooms are so old and not as clean as advertised. I would say the food was quite okay but it was not buffet. Please avoid any salads at any cost.My family of 6 and I had the worst diarrhea ever. The hotel is located more than 30 mins from Malindi airport and the roads are very bumpy ,dusty and so uncomfortable. After booking six rooms online then we got to the hotel , our host that day Caroline said that I had only booked two rooms. They blamed booking.com for everything and I told I frequently travel with booking.com and never had issues with them before. I normally do not put down reviews on anything but if anyone out there is looking for a genuine review if to stay at this hotel please don’t. Save your Money and thank me later.
I little more expensive than other coastal places but its a beautiful place that has beautiful beaches and islands... worth the extra...I will be back soon... We visited during semi covid...no lockdown but not the normal amount of tourists... there were plenty of restaurants still open... It's ideal for couples...not for a party freak....
Watamu is a colorful town with a lot of local activity. You get an exceptional sense for coastal life. The many beaches are beautiful, all different. The 'village' offers wonderful local shopping opportunities. The town has an Italian influence, which is evident in the restaurants. One of the best small lodges, Mvuvi (on booking.com) offers some of the best fresh fish dinners. Overall, Watamu is a casual coastal town with easy access to Milindi airport.
Watamu is very isolated especially if you are staying in one of the hotels north of the centre. However, that is part of the attraction especially if it is a romantic getaway. Limited water sports due to most of the area being protected beaches. Great for a long weekend break or one week stay.
Watamu is lovely but not enough restaurants of variety foods and a lot of the hotels in the area are depressed and not maintained. I understand this completely and sympathise with them for the loss of tourist s and other visitors due to covid! Its sad. But not much to do in watamu. Most places not offering different types of day time entertainment.
Watamu is just one stretch of road. It is good for a lazy stay if you want peace and a chilled-out stay. Most of the good restaurants take a booking. If you miss booking a restaurant, forget your lunch or dinner. Restaurants close service at 11 pm. There are ample local bars for drinks. It is advisable to book self-catering accommodation and cook your own food.
The hotell is located in a very nice spot and the facilities are generally ok. However, the management of the hotel was very poor. Almost non of the food was available from the menu and the management made wierd assumptions. Somehow feelt like the managers used the hotel as their private lodging and some imprivements/repairs needed in various areas. Local staff were very friendly and helpful and did their best to make up for the poor management.
Watamu
Mida Creek Nature camp is probably one of our best memories in Kenya. It was a very nice experience that seems to be difficult to elsewhere and that make us discover a very nice part of Kenya. The staff is very nice and honest, the food is also very good. The facilities are very simple but clean and the landscape around is wonderful as well as the people. Thank you a lot for this little stay, we are very happy, and we will love to come back.
Watamu
I liked the fact that we met good people who made our stay easier. Safari Masha who was our chef. I highly recommend him. He is very humble and professional. He went ab extra mike just to see us comfortable always. He was my star. Piedi(Juma) whom we met at the beach, he offered to take us round watamu and it was a good experience. Then to our girl Harriet for her cleaning services.
Watamu
The place is very beautiful, clean and well maintained. All our needs were taken care of the best way possible - warmheartedly and with respect and understanding. The property has a relaxing garden to chill and to take comfort in, and the beaches as well as the town center are easily accessible via a recommended pikipiki driver (motorcycle ride). I'd love to come again!
Watamu
Great place to stay in Watamu, ideal location to get to all the 'must go' places, while staying at Kobe is just as good, with the 2 pools and the somewhat private feeling beach. The breakfast buffet is as good as promised and the prices for meals a la carte and drinks (incl. a good selection of wines) are fair, while the staff is very helpful and friendly.
Watamu
The hotel is quite accessible from Watamu shopping centre and also located next to other quality beach hotels and facilities such as restaurants and shops. There are many entertainment spots along the beach just next to the hotel and it was quite easy to access boat rides to the dolphins cruise and marine park
Watamu
Comfortable and pretty, clean place, with very kind and polite staff, a small pool, and a lovely apartment kitchenette setup. The grocery store is a few steps away, as well as the pathway to the beach and of course small shops, restaurants and gelato shops all around.
The environmental sustainability model. Refillable glass bottles in the room rather than plastic, and water dispensers in all the hallways. The staff were very helpful and jovial. Room was comfortable. The beach in front of the hotel was swimmable. The pool was clean
Watamu
Staff was exceptionally friendly, activities at the hotel for all ages (sports, games and dances), relaxed pool area and atmosphere, food isn't too pricy, rooms are very quiet and sufficiently equipped.
Watamu
This beach front hotel is a lovely quiet place to relax without the loud music that some other hotels play. The staff were all friendly and talkative. We will definitely come back here!
Hands down one of the best hotels to stay in Watamu. It is near to the beach. All facilities are available. I would definitely like to stay there again. The restaurant is also great.
Watamu
