Facing the beachfront in Nongkhiaw, Ou River House features a bar and a terrace. At the hotel, each room includes a balcony with a mountain view. Stayed 4 nights and 3 full days. An awesome place to relax. Staff are wonderful. The food is very good. I’ll stay here again when I come back to Nong Khiaw. Recommend.
Nam ou view villa is located in Nongkhiaw. This 3-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, room service and free WiFi. The property offers bike rental and features a garden and terrace. It was a very clean hotel with very kind owners. The bed was so comfortable. We slept so well and it was very quiet. The hotel is within a short walk to a floating restaurant and the hotel is near the river with an unobstructed view.
Featuring a bar, Viewpoint Resort is set in Nongkhiaw. With a garden, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. This is one of the most scenic hotels I have seen in the entire world and I stayed for nearly one week. The panoramic views of the entire valley are outstanding and unlike anything I have seen thus far in Asia. The staff work very hard to exceed your expectations. The room was very clean and neat. I read one complaint from another guest that their room wasnt cleaned...but they dont automatically clean it every day during your stay- I requested cleaning several times during my stay and they were more than happy to do it. The breakfast was good and they cook really great Asian and Lao dishes at the on site restaurant. If you have the chance I would highly recommend you stay here . Oh, did I mention the view?!
Located along the peaceful Ou River, Mandala Ou Resort welcomes guests with a beautiful outdoor infinity pool and free Wi-Fi access at all areas. Spacious guestrooms are fitted with a private balcony.... The view is simply stunning, a bit outside the center (which we like) but the hotel provides with bicycle to get to town. Food is lovely too.
Nong Kiau Riverside is located by Nam Ou River. It offers bungalows with river and mountain views. The property is equipped with a tour desk, laundry and shuttle service. The cottages all have verandas looking out over the beautiful and dramatic scenery of Nam Ou river. The property is in a quiet location. The beds and pillows are especially comfortable. Town, stores, restaurants and tour companies are all in walking distance. The buffet bread with made to order crepes and omelets was excellent. The shower was hot and clean.
Meexai Guest house is located in Luang Prabang. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a balcony and a seating area. There is also a dining table. Good facilities with a river view and terrace, nice mattress. Really nice staff and you can eat here with good prices.
Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, and a bar, Swimming Pool Camping Site provides accommodations in Nongkhiaw with free WiFi and pool views. The property has mountain views. The swimming pool was clean and very big, perfect too escape the heat. The tent was great and so peaceful to sleep in, right next to a forest and river. The location is a bit far from the main town but so worth it due to the 360 degree mountain views. The family running it was super kind and helpful. Highly recommend staying here
Featuring a terrace, Arthith Guesthouse is located in Nongkhiaw. Every room comes with a balcony with city views. At the guesthouse, rooms have a desk and a flat-screen TV. We loved every minute we stayed at the Arthith Guesthouse! The best view in town onto the water where you can sit on the shared balcony and watch the local life of this sleepy town pass you by. The rooms are simple and clean. The family was very friendly and we loved getting to know them :)
This place is a nice contrast to Luang Prabang and only three and a half hours away on one of the worst roads imaginable. I understand that before the Chinese started building that huge dam on the Ou River that you could take a boat up there from Luang Prabang. So, before you go, ask yourself if you like bumpy van rides on narrow two-lane roads. In my opinion the inconvenience of getting there was outweighed by the awesomeness of Nongkhiaw, but it was a hassle getting there and back. After a few days you sort of run out of things to do. If you are fit as a fiddle, you can hike up to the view point and be rewarded with an awesome view.
A very pleasant little village in between beautiful mountains. The food and views are fantastic. Two nice viewpoints to watch sunset and sunrise, although not too easy to get to (will take you about an hour of slow climbing with breaks). Interesting trips to the villages nearby and waterfalls. Chilly weather in the morning and evening is a very pleasant break from February heat.
Amazing view point and the Mandala Ou Hotel are by far the best attractions. The town itself is very quiet and doesn't have too much to offer, except for the beautiful views of the river and mountains.
We were only going to stay 3 nights but ended up staying 5. Just loved this town and the low key feel. Everyone visits the cave on the eastern side of town and misses the best one on the western side. It's amazing and has a great guy giving info and torches to help explore this enormous cave!!! It's a must
I call it the heart of Northern Laos. A rugged natural beauty with frontier vibe. The views of the river are beautiful. Not much English but that's the fun, though there are local outfitters who do speak some. Caution even an "easy" half day guided hike can be exhausting in hot weather. Cocos is a fine restaurant.
