Situated in Badulla, 23 km from Haputale, Family Holiday Inn features barbecue facilities and free WiFi. Some units have a balcony and/or a terrace with garden views. Place was good and comfortable. But we had a terrible issue with contacting the host over the phone before arriving at the location. After reaching the location, we found that the only lady who was there was clueless about the booking. However, luckily, since we were the only guests there that day, she accommodated us. Apart from the above, we are happy about the facilities and the cleanliness of the Family Inn.
As you can move through 9 arch bridge and demodara station , Badulla is right ddestination for one or two days. Theres hoistorical Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya and Old dutch fort in city limits. Diyaluma waterfall is also not far from badulla. If you are planning to travel Ella, you can get packed up from here as theres no many retail shops and liquers in Ella except restaurant s
There is loads of places to see around, Ella which is a travellers favourite is really close by as well. Coming from Colombo, it usually takes 6hrs and 30 minutes roughly but we used the highway, exiting from Hambantota which shortened our drive from 1hr.
Quite a vibrant town but didn’t come across any tourist attractions. I hardly saw any tourist unlike in places like Ella (hot spot), Nuwara Eliya etc. There are good restaurants in the town serving local dishes. Plenty of buses to commute around the district.
Dunhinda falls is the best attraction there. It's still under the control & protection of the nature. Further, if you're Buddhist or interested in Buddhism you'll find Muthiyangana Temple in the center of the city. It was told that Gauthama Buddha visited this place once out of his three visits to Sri Lanka. According to Buddhist teachings, this place has some extraordinary powers.
I was in Badulla for a special reason. Though the place where I stayed was a bit interior but getting about in badulla was not difficult at all . I liked the weather as it was very cooling and just right for the day and little colder in the night, i visited the muthiyangana temple in the evening for ceremony. Badulla is also famous for the beautiful dunhinda waterfalls. The Train journey to Badulla is the Most exciting part of the journey, you cannot beat that beautiful stretch from Ella to Badulla. A Breathtaking view........ beautiful scenic view.
