Located in Bagan, 1.8 mi from Izza Gawna Pagoda, Ancient Bagan Hotel features accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a bar. Staff were amazing! All above and beyond to make your stay the best. Pretty courtyard garden, welcome drink of juice. On site prices really competitive, not expensive to eat or drink here. And they do a cracking cosmopolitan 😀🍸. Car organised by the hotel was half the price of a local taxi. 10000 kyats £5 for a day's e bike hire is amongst the cheapest we've found. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you all
Located in Bagan, 1.4 mi from Izza Gawna Pagoda, Bagan Wynn Hotel features accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. Really lovely staff work here, extremely helpful, e-bikes rental from hotel along with other tours etc. It was my birthday on our last day here and they made it memorable with a beautiful blueberry cake with a handwritten name and message, overall a very nice stay.
Bagan Village Resort Hotel features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a bar and garden in Bagan. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. The staff are excellent! Theres genuine effort being made and room service was great. Breakfast was not a buffet but ala carte somewhat limited in choice but quite acceptable for simple tastes. The riverfront views of sunset are fantastic especially for photos. Overall ambience of the place is one of calm and relaxation, especially suited I think for families with young children or travelling with elderly who may prefer a quieter setting after a day of temple visiting etc.
Located in Bagan, 1.4 mi from Izza Gawna Pagoda, Royal Aykare Lodge provides accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a terrace. The hotel is very charming. Great, competent people who do their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you for your kindness and assistance
We went to Popaywa to visit the temple on the mountain which was interesting but Popa Garden Resot was so lovely it would have been worth it without going to the temple. The rooms were well designed with modern teak furniture, like Swedish furniture, the bed was huge and very comfortable. W had a beautiful balcony with sun and shade. The pool was a nice place to relax with comfortable loungers and the staff couldn't have done more for us. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel. It was ok. Not overpriced. They organised a rickshaw to take us up to the temple, but we organised our own taxi as their transport was a little pricey.
The view was amazing. Staffs were so friendly and helpful. We went for trekking to Mt. Popa and it was 1 hour walk. You don't have choice of the foods much i think except you want to walk down to try local foods. We ended up eat at the resort every meals. The resort is quite big and so green.
While the view and surroundings were beautiful and the monastery was nice, the people on and around it were nothing less than horribly disrespectful, towards the sanctuary as well as towards its visitors. For instance, they gave bags filled with sugar to the monkeys on the mountain, not only making them hyped up on sugar, but also making them agressive towards visitors and making them poop all over the stairs, for which , in turn, they ask "donations for cleaning". What a shame that was...
Amazing views of the Mount Popa monastery (Taung Kalat - pedestal hill). This is the Burmese equivalent of the Greek Meteora monastery (i.e. the kitsch / oriental version). 777 steps lead up and down the pillar. Dirty, crowded and very hot. The monastery looks much better from a distance, especially at sunrise/sunset, when viewed from the Mount Popa Resort, located further uphill. Only worth a day visit or sleepover. Not a must see.
The view is amazing, the Mt. Popa Hotel also looks amazing but is rather expensive. Service is good in general, but hotel is not forthcoming with decent compensation for damage done by one of their dogs to our property. Best for a one night stay or only a short visit to enjoy the view.
