Mellieha is situated in the northern part of Malta and perfectly situated to discover Malta. There's shops and restaurants closeby, even on walking distance if you can stand the heat. Going to Valletta is only a 35min drive and the Gozo ferry is just 10min away. In our opinion a rental car is a must to discover the island on your own pace, although Uber is available everywhere and costs about €35 for a single ride to Valletta. Depending on your plans, the cost to use Uber vs car rental might end up being more or less the same.

The bus routes through Mellieha are frequent and cheap with a weekly bus pass. The facilities in Mellieha are good shops, bars and restaurants. No major stores, but not required. Access to the best beaches in Malta is excellent

Neither the beach or the town is particularly nice, the separation between them means either a hot walk up hill or bus or hire car. The beach has very few refreshment options or other facilities.
The church and WW2 tunnels are interesting but the rest of the town is not attractive. The food in Gems restaurant is great and a wide choice.

Lovely sandy beach.
Lovely sandy beach. Great choice of restaurants and lovely food. Buses to Valletta, Sliema, the airport and the port for the Hozo ferry. The church and World War 2 tunnels are definitely worth a visit. Walk to Popeye Village in 30 minutes.

Love the area, great restaurants (Wagu was our favourite).
Love the area, great restaurants (Wagu was our favourite). Theres so much to see and do without the hustle of tourists. Took a 10 min taxi to Golden Bay beach for a hike, you are pretty central to everything. Lovely shops and definitely take a stroll to Sea View Cafe, stunning views with good food and a happy hour.

It’s a quiet town with a reasonable amount of pubs and restaurants. It’s a good base to stay but we went to different places each day. There isn’t enough to keep you busy for a full week if you like to do things on holidays.
I would recommend anyone visiting Malta to stay here. We stayed on he 8th floor in the new building the other side of the road and our room was perfect with huge new bathroom and deep balcony. Breakfast was solid. Spotless hotel. The garden pool area was beautiful with mature trees/planting. Its the flagship hotel of the town and dead central. The Square gastro bar and Amami restaurant are nearby and are both superb. Very pleasant staff. 10/10
The Hotel is situated in a secluded but beautiful area of Malta. It has a beautiful Seafront terrace where one can relax whilst enjoying a drink. We liked the fact that the cocktails are value for money actually very cheap when compared to the norm. The room was very clean as well. The breakfast was superb. We loved the ginger shot before going for breakfast. And the apple juice whilst waiting at the front desk for checking in.
Simply the best hotel at Malta! I visited Malta many times, but decided to stay in this hotel for the first time. And it is simply the best one! Indoot pool, outdoor pool, sauna with amazing glass window to the sea, private beach, excellent breakfast - really great place for such money. Highly recommended!
Compact, simple but comfortable hotel with beautiful view on Mellieha bay. Calm place but close to the old center of Mellieha with restaurants and buses. Distance to the beach (1km). Good starting point for trips around Malta and on Gozo/Comino. Last but not least - very nice and caring staff.
Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay so much. Pools, food, room was just perfect. We met the nicest receptionist Bianka who was very friendly and helpful, she gave us many good tips. We stayed in more hotels in Malta but Solana was the best experience. Thank you
