Where do I start? This is by far one of those very few special places that you never want to leave. Every single detail felt unique, from the warm welcome to the many common areas, so nicely decorated in authentic Oaxacan style. The views are just breathtaking, you are surrounded by nature, yet the ocean is always there as your compass. The bungalow felt so private and cozy, well thought through and beautifully designed, not to mention that amazing outdoor shower! Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the crashing waves was truly special. On our last morning, we even spotted a whale from our terrace. If you are looking for a grounding experience, this is definitely the place to unwind and slow down. All the staff is amazing, you can feel the passion they have for the place and soul they put into their work, something we have rarely seen before. The General Manager was so kind and regularly checked in on us, plus he helped us with great recommendations and tour arrangements. We equally loved the food, the chef definitely knows what he is doing. Everything was super tasty, from the pizza (the best we´ve had in Mexico and we live here) and traditional tlayuda to the fish and seafood, and the prices of both food and drinks more than decent. Not last, Mermejita beach is at a 10-minute walk and is one of the wildest and most stunning beaches we´ve ever seen. We cannot wait to return, thank you so much for the warm welcome and hospitality.

The view from the pool was absolutely stunning, we couldn't believe it! Our room was also incredibly spacious and had a view looking right over the pool and beach. The staff were sweet and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious! The walk to the main town/village is quite steep (10 mins or so) but that was fine for us. Easy to access Punta Cometa too via a back route. Would highly recommend and wish we stayed longer - it all exceeded our expectations given the price!

This place is a dream! The suite was gorgeous, super clean, private, and comfortable. It all felt so luxurious. We particularly loved the pool area, which has a beautiful view, and Fernando, who was such a genuine delight and so attentive. It’s a little out of the main town but we had a car. Highly recommend.

La Alberca is the perfect spot if you are wanting to stay near mazunte or zipolite. It is a short drive to town both ways (less than 5 min) and has the most incredible views. It is a nice private oasis away from the busyness of town. Jordi (the owner) and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and were amazing with assisting when our flights got cancelled in the hurricane. The breakfast is 10/10 with 3 really delicious options. From the linen, to the beautiful aesthetics in the hotel- everything has been thought of. Big draw card for us was the infinity pool as you cannot swim in the beaches so it was a great place to cool off.

What a stunning coast and area.

What a stunning coast and area. Full of the most incredible nature. Talk to any of the beach bar and they can help you to book a boat tour seeing dolphins and turtles that you can snorkel round. Depending on the time of year I was able to even help baby sea turtles. The only downside is the ocean is very rough. It is not the sort of beach you can swim in so if you like to swim make sure your hotel has a pool. Also bring cash still lots of place that were cash only and not great ATMs around.

If you are going to stay in Mazunte this is your place. It is cheerful, inviting and kid friendly too. Excellent beach access and views and a great place to just relax also. This place has it all. Oh! And it is all just within walking distance to town, 1 block.

I loved that every restaurant, store, shop, was independently owned. Charming. We arrived via a bus and a collectivo - did plenty of walking. The main strip has plenty of spots to eat and if you checked out the corners and so forth you found more spots to explore. A couple of fruit markets or buy mangoes and avocados from people wandering by selling. Street vendors ie mainly jewellery. The beaches are smallish and it seems that the Mazunte-Rinconto beach are one and the same. Lots of new age stuff (yoga, breathwork). Massages were Canadian priced (did not try to beach one, next time). Arrive with cash (seriously) - there are a few ATM machines but the service charges are too much. Some places take cards but some do not (and really paying with cash ensures that the business gets the full value of your money). There are two main streets that are one way. Local music that wrapped up at a decent hour at several of the bars. Near another town there is a lagoon that is worthwhile visiting and we participated in a turtle release at sunset.

Mazunte is great for people who want a lot going on in a...

Mazunte is great for people who want a lot going on in a very small area. In the high season, it is full if tourists and activities for tourists. And if you are a hippie, you will probably like it. There is yoga, vegetarian food, community theater, and lots of music. The beaches are great. If I go again, I will probably stay in the next town over to have a quieter experience. But I liked it! Favorite restaurants in Mazunte- Doba, Sambodhi, and El Armadillo. They are all very clean and have vegetarian food.

Mazunte is a wonderful, laid-back friendly town. There are many restaurants with diverse cuisines and shops with beautiful and unique art, clothing and local goods. It is very much an old-hippie town with kind and welcoming vibes. Fun!!!

Mazunte is a beautiful quiet yet active and quaint village. Cute shops, restaurants, great ice cream (palma negra). Generally a wonderful vibe. The whole village can be walked easily and it's possible to walk to the next village/beach no problem.

Where to begin! I had such a wonderful stay at Casa Mazunte Tierra Viva. The hosts, Abner and Parti, were so lovely - they made me feel welcomed and at home. The location is amazing, you can hear the ocean from your room. The shared facilities are great and the A/C is an added bonus. Thanks again for letting me stay at your Casa, it was a very memorable trip :)

One of the most beautiful places we‘ve ever stayed in. The view is out of this world, and we were able to see whales in the ocean, even from the balcony. We woke up with the sun. It was simply beautiful. Mazunte is an incredibly charming little village, and we felt completely at ease there. We would have loved to stay longer.

amazing sea view, very chill area in Mazunte. we could even see the sunrise from our bed. had a great time :) you can have a swim and go directly back to the terrace in front of the room. would definitely recommend and go back!

Amazing place and amazing rooms. Right front of the Ocean ,the view it’s outstanding. All the staff is so kind. Definitely the best hotel in one month of Mexico. We book one night but we spent 3 nights there because was awesome.
