I had booked the room months in advance and made several requests. I was very pleased that they were fulfilled. The bed was large, and there was an ac unit that looked new and was SILENT. Quite a good value for the price, and conveniently located close to the zocolo, the alcala, and within easy walking distance to the central markets. The staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean and beds were made daily.

I come every year for 2 weeks to attend language school. As a single female traveler I have always felt safe. Lots to see and do. Food is incredible. People are friendly. Don’t forget to drink Mezcal every chance you get. Taking a food tour is a great way to try many different regional dishes.

The city is fascinating and beautiful but the accommodations for anyone over 60 are difficult. There are too many steps to climb in hotels and restaurants, there are rarely hand rails along stairways. Many restaurants didn’t have toilet seats or toilet paper.

Oaxaca City... so many things to see and do.
Oaxaca City... so many things to see and do. The main site in the area is Monte Alban, an archealogical dig which took us 4 hours to thoroughly see. We went early to stay ahead of the tours, which is sound advice to anyone else.
The city itself had an amazing vibe. A colourful and musical atmosphere with kind and helpful people, and a culinary experience around every corner.

Loved Oaxaca. So colorful and vibrant.
Loved Oaxaca. So colorful and vibrant. Dancing in every park you go to. They had dancers with firecrackers on their heads in the main square when I went. Doesn't get much better than that. Super easy to walk around, the whole city is pretty flat. It's like an old European city. Get some Mole and Tlayudas! Try the Ethnobotanical garden. Get mezcalitas at a rooftop bar for sunset. Lots of things to do for a weekend getaway.

A beautiful and lively city with excellent food.
A beautiful and lively city with excellent food. There is a strong sense of community in Oaxaca. There are people out on the street at night celebrating and socializing at all hours, something we do not get in Canada. I love visiting cities like this where the streets seem to belong to the people. There is a strong political undercurrent, with pro-palestine graffiti and proletarian political graffiti. If you are someone, like me, who believes that politics are important, this is a good place to visit.

So many great places to see and way too many great restaurants to try! One absolute must is the Bodeaga Bakery on Miguel Hidalgo
Casa Oaxaca was a delightful culinary experience. Monte Alban was overwhelming to see.
Beautiful boutique bed and breakfast. The staff are so kind and welcoming. Special thanks to merium. The rooms are spacious with an outdoor extension. The entire hotel and rooms have amazing art and is picturesque. The little touches made all the difference. The hotel team organised our trip from the airport. And the hotel was helpful with organising tours and telling about things to do in town. We highly recommend Casa Carmen if you are staying in Oaxaca City.
The rooms were much more spacious than I expected. Our room was quiet even with all of the celebrations going on outside for Día de Muertos. The accommodation was clean. The rooftop space with pool was perfect for relaxing for a couple of hours after exploring for the day and before going out for the evening. The hotel was conveniently located. The staff were very helpful and responsive over booking.com and WhatsApp.
A great hotel.Really nice casual communal areas. Breakfast was really incredible and some of the best food we had in oaxaca. We were gutted when we had an excursion leaving early and had to miss breakfast.
