San Carlos has become a weekend party town. Lots of noise, booze and fun. You need a car to get around. Lots of good restaurants. Blackies. Mariscos del rey. Barracuda bob’s is great for breakfast and has good wifi.
A beautiful beach town with great beaches, prices and options for eating out. I love the scenic views and all the nice bars, restaurants and lounges. The sport activities like kayaking and fishing were great!
It is a friendly, safe, convenient smallish beach community of the "just right" size--with lots of activities, restaurants, beach and water sport options, shopping, entertainment, but generally rather quiet, uncrowded (except Easter time), unlike Cancun, Acapulco, etc.
The scenery is absolutely beautiful, mountains, sea, desert, has it all. Everything is reasonably priced. HOWEVER, if you want to do anything, boating, fishing, ATV, Rental it is very difficult to find information either on the internet or in person. I have visited SC a dozen or more times and have not yet been able to explore the area other than by foot. SC is perfect for seniors and the people are very friendly.

For water sports enthusiasts, there are beautiful sand beaches, spectacular diving and snorkeling, kayaking, and offshore fishing. San Carlos is only a 250 mile, 4-hour drive from Nogales, AZ on Mexico Highway 15, a four-lane divided highway. The community hosts an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts and numerous gift shops and galleries for shopping and browsing. For the boater, two marinas are available with paved launch ramps, dry storage facilities, complete marine repair and maintenance services, fuel docks and reasonable rates for slip rental. Numerous restaurants featuring seafood, Sonoran beef, Mexican dishes and American cuisine are located throughout the town. Prime real estate is available for sale and there are motels, hotels, RV Parks, condominiums and private home rentals to fit every group and budget.
In recent times, San Carlos has developed into a premier resort. Great variety in good restaurants. Good facilities for watersports. Good special events such as the Parade of Yachts on Christmas Eve. Good live music. Very friendly people.
My experience at the hotel was very pleasant, we didn't use the amenities because of COVID, but facilities were great, we had the option of room service, or going to the restaurant "El embarcadero" which is in the hotel, it also had great view to the marina and a bar near it. Regarding the location, we considered it was perfect, it had a supermarket right in the corner, and many restaurants 5-10 min drive.
The staff was very helpful and kind, it seems to be a new place, the views are awesome. It is closed to a nice beach "Los Algodones" and "El Mirador" where you can see the most spectacular views of the sea.
San Carlos
It was a great facility and perfect location. The rooms were extremely clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The location and the semi-private beach area was everything you could dream of.
This is an extremely reasonable hotel and about the only thing available in San Carlos when I booked it. The bed was very comfortable, the room very big and the location pretty centrally located
This hotel is really lovely. The grounds and the pool are so pretty and relaxing. The beds are super comfy. We had a really nice stay and next time we will stay longer than 2 nights.
