Tulum is beautiful and the beaches are divine, but I now fully understand why many people who seek peace are hesitant to go to Tulum. It has become a party hub and accommodation is ridiculously expensive for what they offer. Paying more money does not necessarily mean better experience. Everywhere there is party and the noise just takes away from the peace. You barely see locals working especially in tiendas, most are monopolized by foreigners and prices are in dollars, which is quite sad to see.
Best beaches in the region, no sargassum, low season is the BEST - no crowds. Not so touristy like other Mexican vacation destinations (cancun, cabo, etc) Very quiet - relaxing vibe - bohemian - cool - younger crowd - hippe chic - easy to get around - fabulous food & restaurants. Best ocean, cenotes and lagoons in the region - so many things to see & do - one week is not enough time to see it all.
Tulum is beautiful, but a little spendy. The cab rides are outrageously expensive so if you can rent a car, I highly suggest it. The best places to shop are outside the popular tourist sites, of course!
I loved Tulum, I lived there for a year. Unfortunately this was my last trip to the beautiful Tulum I once loved. The beaches are no longer pubic, you cannot access a beach unless you are staying at one of the hotels on the beach. Another option is to pay for parking walk a kilometer and then pay again to access the beach.
Everyone who is working at the front desk is lovely, especially Carlos!!! He goes back and forth to make sure you have a fantastic time at Pocna. Free breakfast is included. They have a menu with 7 dishes. In the beginning we got excited about it but after a week we got bored of the choices. Would be nice if you could switch the menu after a week so guests are not getting tired of the choices. I got food poisoning from one of the restaurants. Not sure if it was the Poke from the Japanese restaurant or the chicken at Ramon’s. If you’re out for a beach walk after sunset and walk back to you room be careful walking through Ramon’s restaurant. It’s dark and they should add some lights. There’s a step near the bar which hurt my toe several times.
Tulum is extremely expensive. Dont go if you dont have a good budget. Even breakfast can be around 60 usd for 2 people on average. Beaches are nice but I believe in the value of money and honestly think you can get it better somewhere else for the same value of money. All restaurants sell you food at way above average prices. Not all hotels have staff that clean their beach and if so, its full of rotting sargassum which could quite literally ruin your vacation.
WishTulum was such a delight and one of our best stays in Mexico! The lady at reception spoke perfect English and recommended restaurants and conotes to us. The room was a great size with a lovely balcony overlooking the grounds. The pool was a good size and perfect for a cool off after a day exploring. Its perfectly located between the beaches and the town - town is walkable in 5/10 mins and the beaches you can cycle to. Would recommend hiring a bike from next door - super convenient!
Lovely hotel in a nice location in Tulum. We had a nice room on the ground floor with a small terrace. We loved the rooftop pool but it definitely needs more sunbeds and umbrellas. it also has a rooftop bar open all day, which was nice and offered good margaritas. We experienced good communication with (even German speaking) staff beforehand and while we were there, got good recommendations for restaurants and beach clubs - thanks Sandra!
Loved our stay at Bardo… I feel like we are well travelled and have stayed a some of the finest hotels around the world, and Hotel Bardo is one of our favorite boutique hotels. The whole atmosphere is calming and relaxing and is a paradise within the city. Their entire team was awesome and attentive, and the complimentary yoga (instructors are paid only by your tips) was fantastic - 2 of the best yoga sessions we’ve ever experienced.
excellent location in the middle of Tulums hotel zone, note it isn’t actually on the beach it’s just on the other side of the beach road you can walk to the back in literally one minute, very good price for the location and surprisingly smart. the rooms are in metal containers but are designed smart and modern inside with aircon included. I’d happily return. parking also available. also decent wifi which is a rarity in Tulum.
The resort was very relaxing and clean rooms. The rooms had great A/C and felt very fresh after being outside. Very roomy, nice showers and a jungle vibe. I liked the hotel front desk worker Alfonso. He helped us choose some great restaurants, gave us good tips and was one of the nicest person we met in this trip. If you guys book here please ask Alfonso anything. He knows so much about Tulum!
Nothing. Dead cockroach on floor Water stopped running toliet went to use public washroom Hot water stopped Music from vegaboom next door going till 1 am + boom boom boom.. $1300 canadian for a “master beach front” tulum has changed stay down towards casa malca or nomade or be tulum if uou want real value for your money. This legacy hotel sucks. Nothing relaxing about it.
We had the most amazing stay at La Valise. The hotel was beautiful, everything was so well-organized and peaceful. so far it was the best hotel in Mexico. Perfect for a honeymoon getaway, lovely beach, amazing and welcoming staff members who helped us at every moment. Book it and dont think twice!
Perfect location in the Hotel Zone in Tulum. Staff were attentive and very helpful with special mention to Michel and Chef Diego. Hotel was on its own private beach which was cleaned every day (currently seaweed season). We saw turtles nesting on the beach which was a real treat to witness.
All of the staff is sooo very pleasant, kind and helpful. The room was beautiful, confortable and clean. The location is great if you want to party at Tulum beach. The private cenote is the cherry on the top. Great value for money at an expensive place life Tulum Hotel area!
I had an outstanding experience at IKAL hotel. The staff is friendly(receptionists, housekeepers, security…) I stayed in an amazing room with private pool, balcony and an incredible view. This is definitely one of your best options if you want a beach front hotel in Tulum.
I loved the little Coco-Zen 'village'. It was quite romantic and super chill. Also the staff was just nice and courteous. The beachfront was breathtaking. Also the rooms were really clean and nice. A perfect hotel for some relaxing days in Tulum!
Good location, a little further away from the loud beach clubs. Own beach club is free of access for the hotel guests, no minimum spend. Room with beach view is very nice! Prices high compared to other areas in Mexico, but still on the lower end for Tulúm.
This boutique hotel is awesome just around tje center in Tulum. Alan, Peter and Rodrigo are just exceptional! They go beyond to make you feel good and have awesome recommendations of restaurants, how to move around, tours, etc we had a great experience!!
There is a pool in the garden with clean water. (not everywhere in Mexico) The Hotels location is very good to experience the Hotel Zone. Easy to park. The Staff was very helpful. There was a Security Guard at the Hotel entrance during the night.
This is the most beautiful, picturesque place in Tulum and it’s close enough to the action of the bigger hotels and resorts but secluded in the jungle for an intimate, authentic feel.
The hotel was amazing. Very boutique and in a good location. Would definitely be returning when I am in Tulum again.
Beautiful boutique hotel right on Tulum Beach
