The place is amazing, it is far from all the noise. The hotel itself is very cosy. It’s true that internet is working only in the restaurant and at reception but it’s a common thing for Tulum, even better to have time for relax. The personnel is very kind. Edward at reception was always trying to help. Genaro the concierge was helping with excursions and with all the entertainment stuff. I liked the place so much that I want to come back again soon.

Alaya Tulum, Cabanas Tulum- Beach Hotel & Spa, and Hotel Bardo - Adults Only got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Tulum.
Beautiful place with lots to do but be warned, this is NOT a cheap vacation. Avoid the taxis at all costs as they charge obscene rates, opt for the local collectivos or bike rentals instead. Food and drink prices at most spots were about on par with Vancouver, Canada ($16 CAD for cocktails and $20+ CAD for mains). Recommended spots: La Hoja Verde - great value, fantastic food, wonderful staff Bonita bar - good cocktails, friendly staff, amazing live music Encanto - brilliant mezcalita, lovely staff and beautiful backyard patio PERRO NO COME PERRO - street tacos and more that will blow.your.damn.mind. Such good value too! The Better Donut - delicious donuts, amazing milkshakes! Cenote Encantado Nuan - large open cenote with diving/bathing deck, good value at $100 MXN entry
The town itself is not particularly special, but there is a quite spectacular archaeological park which is worth visiting. I guess I would still opt for Tulum against the madness of places like Cancun and Playa del Carmen, but quite frankly there isn't much choice in the area as all the sea side is taken up by large resorts and hotels. We went to Yucatan mainly to visit Chitzen Itza which was well worth the visit, but the region lacks the authenticity of other areas in Mexico; that is also true about the local cuisine. The local nature is nice but the nearby cenotes are swarmed by tourists. You better off picking a random one away from the urban centres that will make it worth it.
Great place I’m American but have lived in Cancun since 1998. I own property in Tulum and have stayed at several resorts. This ranks at the top. Great staff, great food, great happy hour, reasonably priced. I’ll be back for sure. Mateo’s grill is a couple hundred feet and has great food and IPA’s that n tsp, lots of beautiful cenotes. Gyrations time
Tulum is effectively a beach town under construction. The beach hotel zone is one long tourist trap - high prices, low quality food and drink. Would recommend downtown instead. Expect to spend $50USD daily on taxis.
Tulum was a pleasant surprise. There is a lot happening in the area by way of development that is drawing more visitors, yet it still manages to hold onto its "cute beach town" vibe. What I really liked was how there are three areas that offer different experiences, and they are all easy to get to, depending on you mode of transportation. There is Tulum Centro (downtown), the areas/neighborhoods around Tulum Centro, and the beach. We experienced all three by way of scooter, which was a lot of fun and perhaps preferable to a car. I also liked how everything felt lush and jungle-like, that I could basically wear my swimsuit, cover-up, and sandals just about anywhere, and experiencing the near-perfect weather when we visited there in the spring. Visit the cenotes and take the plunge! There are so many, and each one has its own unique characteristics. We booked a tour to Chichen Itze and a tour bus picked us up from a central location in town. If you don't want to travel that far but still want to see ruins, there are two options for local ruins in Tulum: 1) El Castillo in the Zona Arqueologica de Tulum (just north of the Hotel Zone along the beach and 2) Coba Ruins, just north of Tulum Centro. Campanella Cremerie is the best little local cafe with excellent coffee, gelato, and food on a cute little corner in Aldea Zama. We rented scooters from Good Bikes Only in Aldea Zama, and Yenci was the perfect resource for all the questions we had about things to do and connected us directly to those experiences. She was an invaluable resource.
Tulum beach is beautiful and generally pretty clean apart from the undeveloped plots along the beach front where there is a little bit of rubbish and seaweed. Coming from London, we found Tulum beach to be very expensive and particularly in the evenings that many of the restaurants and bars were quiet. Maybe due to the season (April) but feels like most people stay in town (cheaper) and travel to the beach for the day. We would recommend Holbox over Tulum for anyone who wants a beach break.
The Mereva is in the perfect location with Casa Cenote right across the street. There is a covid testing center 2 minute walking distance from the hotel which was very convenient for us as we needed a covid test to enter back into the US. Mereva hotel was about 13 minutes drive to Downtown Tulum and about 30 minute drive to Tulum Hotel Zone. The scenery of the hotel is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast was exceptional. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. We would definitely stay here again!
Botanica is the best place where I have been so far in Mexico. The owner is extremely friendly, helpful and generous. So does the other people I had the chance to meet there. The place is so beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, with a beautiful kitchen, a temazcal 3 times per week. There is also a good yoga studio and a cute cafe just next door. The public beach is 15-20 min by bicycle. I highly recommend this place if you are coming to Tulum. Thank you for all and for warning my heart <3
- Beach was more clean than in the other parts of Tulum, smaller and private (only shared with some hotels) - Staff was always friendly and helpful - Breakfast is okey - Also food and drinks are good, but a bit pricy (as Tulum beach mostly is) - Room provides all you need and is clean - Location: perfect when you are fine with bikes, bus or Taxi for City center Please dont expext high luxury - this is a bit simpler but very lovely place providing all you need.
Location is really nice, in front of the ocean, with a nice beach and not too many people on it or too many others hostels in the neighborhood. The hostel is relaly closed to the Tulum ruins, we could go there on foot with kids. We can also see the ruins from the hotel's beach Nice staff / park staff help to park the car and to keep the car place (lot of people during the day) Restaurant & breakfast nice. nice view on beach from the restaurant
Tulum
The best place ever at Tulum. The service is excellent. The staff are very friendly and humble, unlike many other fancy hotels at the hotel zone of Cancun. They always do their best to give you the best experience. The free breakfast buffet is awesome, too many items. The hot pool is too great. You will have the whole kitchen in your room too which surprised me most. You have ceramic plates, forks, knifes, spoons, egg beaters, glasses, mugs and so on!
The staff was exceptional, and the property is a short bike ride to the actual Tulum archeological site. They rent the bikes to take there. Interesting side note -- the owner is a film buff with B & W posters of Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and the gang from the film, Casablanca. The hotel's restaurant is appropriately named "Casablanca," and the rooms are themed with vintage items throughout. Great place with character.
This is a perfect, peaceful getaway in Tulum! A small boutique hotel (only 13 rooms) with amazing facilities. The beds are super comfortable, shower is perfect, beach beds are everything you need, breakfast (and all other food) delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is also perfect! Almost everything on walking distance, and otherwise you can use their bikes for free. Don’t skip a facial/massage!!
Such a gem of a hotel ! the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the upper deck with hammocks and chairs was relaxing. The location was great to Pueblo Tulum just a couple streets back from the main avenue and east walking distance. They have bikes available for rent for 100 peso per day. The staff were amazing!
Tulum
I really hate writing reviews but..... this is worth it. I travel all over the world in search for beautiful boutique hotels! I highly recommend staying here, and do your self a favor and just stay here. Absolutely the best part of Tulum, and when you book somewhere else you will remember I told you so! 🎤drop
Tulum City Centre, Tulum
It was very pretty, cozy and comfortable. Rustic in a few details, which brought me an amazing experience staying at Tulum. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Also the location was very good, next to Tulum Center (with bars, stores, restaurants) and to the beach/ Hotel Zone of Tulum. I loved it!
The hotel is on the quieter side of Tulum beach which is great for family. We got upgraded to presidential suite which is right on the beach. If was amazing! The staff is really friendly, and the food is really good too!
Amazing hotel, clean and big rooms (best shower I had in Mexico), love the interior, great breakfast, staff is super nice and helpful (just ask José for all the best places in Tulum!)
The hotel was amazing. Very boutique and in a good location. Would definitely be returning when I am in Tulum again.
