We liked the beach, the property we stayed in had a private beach that was constantly being cleaned. We did not enjoy the town center. The town felt disjointed and the roads are in shambles. If you're looking for quiet beach and mostly staying close to your hotel, Tulum would be great. We are usually in Playa del Carmen so, we were a little disappointed in how far apart all the restaurants were from the hotel. You will need transportation for everything you want to do and there are no street lights. Beautiful small town with some sketchiness thrown in for authenticity.
Me and my boyfriend had been to Tulum before. We love it. It was our first time at Gramercy and we could not have been happier . Great staff , super friendly and helpful and we loved our beach view room with the balcony . We can’t wait to come back and def recommend it 1000 % Johnni and Diego and the rest of the staff were wonderful . And whatever we needed …. We received right away .
Wrong time of season to appreciate beach. Black seaweed is everywhere this time of year (late July). Also, we stayed at the "Dune Boutique Hotel" which was just outside of the the "Party Zone". Seems that a couple of disrespectful beach club properties blast music to the FULL DISPLEASURE of all of the surrounding properties. Too bad they ruin it for those guests who dont want loud music at 2AM. Yup. It starts at 11am AND BLASTS until 2am. Surrounding property managers jointly signed a letter requesting the volume be lowered. After an apology was extended, the volume stayed stupid high. So so sad for such a beautiful area. We suggest boycotting Taboo Beach Club. Food? Heartwood trumps Arca in our view, but both excellent. Also stayed at Habitas. Pan for gold and spring for the beach front cabana. well worth it! Ask for Orlando. He crushes the service.
The food was off the charts, every restaurant was impressive even the little mom & pop joints. They take a lot of pride in presentation & the serving sizes are just right. They have great shopping for quality ceramics, woven hand-bags & rare stone jewelry. The cenotes are worth the experience and it has good night life. We didn't personally party but was available if that's what you're looking for! We rented a car but there were taxis available if needed. So easy to get around. Being able to understand or speak some Spanish helps.
Tulum Beach is nice ecstatically, you can comfortably rest here and it is nice once you stay in your beachfront but it is overinflated and overhyped. Remember you are never far away from commercialists only looking to get your money (incl police). In the hotels itself this is not a problem and people are nice there but the prices in my opinion are a bit over the top and you are much better of going to restaurants/bars in Tulum Pueblo than on the beach strip. Just take that into account. Don't come to Tulum if you are on a budget except if you are looking to do welness/spiritual activities which are more abundant here and excellent (yoga, temazcal, cacao ceremonies).
What I liked the most about the Copal was the great staff and the exceptional service. Also the restaurant had amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner! The location was not too far from the beach but also far enough to get away from the crowd on occasion. Perfect place for friends trips!
The room only had 1 outlet by the bed. So my friend and I had to alternate charging our phones. It is in one of the lonelier areas of the beach. The area with more restaurants and vibe is further south. And it is a bit of a walk to get down to the busier areas. So if you want Tulum vibe choose somewhere closer to the restaurant RosaNegra. Also the ocean was so full of seaweed that no one could go in it. Even though that is not the hotel's fault. Tulum has a really bad seaweed problem. That is worse sometimes of the year than others.
After travelling around Mexico and staying in multiple resorts, this was definitely my favourite! The mix between privacy, and luxury, insuring your stay is perfect! A little bit out of where all the popular bars and clubs are, but this is great for somebody who enjoys a retreat, but then walking distance to all the main attractions! I will definitely return! And will recommend to all my friends and family, this was definitely the best hotel that I stayed in into Tulum. I stayed in 8 hotels altogether. Alma was number 1.
I want to start by saying that I love this place. I always like to try new places when I come to Tulum, and I can tell you that you won't be dissapointed with this new hotel. The pool is just huge & beautiful. Nature is part of the essence of it, just what I needed to be able to relax. The location is perfect, downtown is 5 minutes away driving and 15 minutes to the beach hotel zone. I also wanted to thank the staff, they were very polite & professional at all times and very helpful with all my requests.
from the moment we arrived at the hotel they took great care of us, giving us information about all the activities we could do. The hotel is not in the hotel zone but it has the most beautiful beach in Tulum and you can get to the hotel zone by bike during the day without problem, at night there are restaurants nearby if you want to eat in the hotel zone you can go by taxi. Yazmin always attended us with great kindness and gave us all the information we needed. It is definitely a hotel that I recommend.
This hotel has been the most magical place I have ever stayed in. The place was absolutely stunning, peaceful, and offered the most incredible vibes. The service was impeccable- as it is a small hotel, the staff are always available to help and provide information. The cenote in the hotel was a huge plus and the breakfast was divine. The history behind the hotel and it's commitment to sustainability and natural was wonderful and this hotel is truly the best kept secret in Tulum.
The location is great. The beach isn't the best compared to the hotels or resorts a little further South, if you're staying in Tulum, or even the ones a bit further North, since Azulik is on the rocks and the beach is small, and the water pretty brown, but location is still pretty good. We had a room with a big balcony right on the water with a swing bed and a small plunge tub (not a pool), which was lovely.
I absolutely loved this hotel! the staff are wonderful and so helpful - they will happily book taxis for you to get to the beach/hotel zone. it’s clean and quiet, in a location that’s slightly off the beaten track which I loved! you can still walk or bike (or taxi) to the centre of Tulum or the beach as well though. the pool was quiet and never packed and the rooms were simple but lovely. would highly recommend!
Location and price were great. We went to Tulum to go diving and the hotel was one city block from the dive shop, so very convenient for our purposes. I had a few concerns that it would be a little noisy at night, since the hotel is located downtown, but that wasn't the case. Staff was very nice and the fact that we could rent scooters directly through the hotel, at comparable rates, was the cherry on top.
excellent location, great beachfront rooms, great views, great low key restaurant and bar. much quieter than the typical spot along the hotel zone. centrally located with easy access to the city, public beaches/ruins, and the south hotel zone. we rented a bike nearby and used that for our mode of transportation once in tulum!
Tulum City Centre, Tulum
Exactly as pictured. Modern, contemporary and clean. Lovely intimate hotel located right in the heart of downtown tulum, close to all the bars & restaurants. Great WiFi connection and felt very safe and secure. If I returned I’d stay here again without hesitation. Great value for money also.
Very new facility, extraordinary architekture of the hotel, located in a brand new spot. Felt like a brand new city inside a city. Nothing to do with a typical Mexico, couple of streets away from the ghetto but we felt very safe. Anyway the beach is pretty far. Better to have a car or scooter
The hotel is small but you fell like is 5 stars boutique hotel. Stuff is helpful, swimming pool is very nice, not huge but enough to cool down. Breakfast are on the roof, very cool views. Tulum is under constructions now. Noises are everywhere, even on the beach.
Tulum City Centre, Tulum
Amazing place, the appartments are well equiped and very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful and bike rentals are offered for a competitive price. The hotel is perfectly located to make the most of Tulum's village and activities. Would recommand.
Fantastic hotel with fantastic rooms and great staff. Great access to the beach front with a lovely private area for hotel guests. Staff from the front of house through to the housekeepers were amazing and always lovely. A great property to stay at in Tulum.
The hotel was a lovely place to spend time in, the food was amazing and the beach area was the best place in Tulum. also the sunset bar was gorgeous, I would recommend anyone to visit this bar whether they are guests or not.
On the most beautiful part if the beach and a bit away from the cartel-fueled bustle of central Tulum, the hotel is one of the nicest I have ever stayed in, and had the best food we ate anywhere in Mexico, and we ate well.
super nice and quite relaxing small boutique hotel. service and food from menu all very tasty and good. much better service as any other hotel we stayed in mexico. beds extremely comfortable. i would stay here again.
Great Location, best in Tulum. Far from the craziness of the hotel zone, great place if you want to enjoy an excellent view, great service and awesome rooms...
fabulously clean always by the maids! close to the beach and and all the fabulous restaurants/bars/boutiques and clubs!
Amazing staff, beautiful and private beach. Every meal was fantastic and reasonably priced for the quality.
