Located inside the Tulum Archaeological Site in Tulum, Hotel Poc Na Tulum features a restaurant, bar and free WiFi in the restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. I honestly cannot say a bad word about pocna... from the moment I stepped foot on the property I felt like home. The staff went above and beyond at every turn to make me feel welcome. They were so kind and helpful. Especially their concierge, he was fantastic. The property itself is like... heaven. I stayed in a jungle room and it was steps from the beach. It's sandy and in the jungle and wild. If you love that like I do.. you're going to love it here. It was so quiet and beautiful. I watched sunrise each morning and sat at their beach club just taking in their stunning beachfront. I thought the room was comfortable and well appointed. It's simple, but you have hot water, aircon and everything you could need. The food at the resto was yum. I will absolutely be back and recommending this place to all my friends.

We visited Tulum in 2007 and were aware that it had changed. In our opinion not for the better. It has certainly become much more developed - more accommodations, many more on the high end scale. Overall everything was more expensive which I expected but not quite to the extent it was. The majority of hotels, bars and restaurants are tastefully furnished and many boutique style options are available but it feels a lot less authentic than it once did. Personally I prefer quieter, charming places and whilst I still enjoyed my stay, I opted for a quieter end of town and 3 nights was enough.
Tulum is such beautiful and magical town! The beachside hotels and restaurants are really nice and there’s so many artistic elements of design woven into everything, giving off a very creative and natural vibe. Just know that the photos of places aren’t always portrayed accurately and everything is pretty expensive (almost same prices as tourist hotels in USA) considering its Mexico, and some of the hotels don’t have all the amenities that one would expect. Overall, though, we truly enjoyed our stay and it was so fun exploring the all local places in Tulum! We didn’t even see all the things we planned to, so we’ll have to go back for another visit in the future to see more! If you get a chance, check out Azulik museum, Ahau sculpture of big wicker guy with wild vines growing inside his chest, and local cenotes. So many cool things to see and do!
The big problem with Tulum is that is is facing crazy urban development, condo after condo destroying the beautiful tropical jungle. Additionally all the coast line is facing regularly algae bloom issues.
The beaches were full of sargassum that was not being dealt with which made it unswimmable. The entire beach road and area is under never ending construction and road work. This makes for large equipment making the road dusty and feel unsafe to walk/bike. I also did not feel safe doing anything after dark; many sketchy people around. I saw many tourist pulled over by the Policia- families, young people.....middle of the day. People like to say if the tourist are behaving it will be fine but it seemed like these were just honest vacationers spending their tourism dollars in the wrong spot imo. The restaurants are very expensive and everything seems like a money grab. I couldn't wait to leave. I visited Tulum years ago and was shocked at how awful it had become; we won't be back.
Tulum is Tulum and not representative of Mexican culture. If you are going for the beaches, then be sure to stay nearby, but be prepared for the prices and potentially the noise, depending where you stay. If AC is important to you, then watch out for "eco-hotels" which only provide a fan... Town is a long way from the beach without a car and taxis are expensive (be sure to agree on the price before hand). Scooters are also tricky with all the dust and terrible roads due to construction. Tulum is also super expensive compared to the rest of Mexico and many people are trying to rip you off. However, Tulum is BEAUTIFUL, and has a magical vibe to it. there are very few public beaches, especially on the south side, literally no access, so be prepared for $50-&120 min spend to access the beach clubs which might be covered in seaweed... There are loads of amazing restaurants, do your research, see what your vibes is and your budget.
Loved the cenotes - only wished I had more time to see everything. You could spend 3 weeks in Tulum and probably still not be able to see everything. The food is delicious and there are many inexpensive options (even a grocery store if cooking in is more your style). There are a million air bnb and hostel options to choose from, or large resorts and fancy hotels if you want something expensive. I absolutely recommend Xpu ha beach, the Eden cenote, and cenote Azul, Kaan Luum lagoon, and the Tulum Mayan ruins. Keep in mind a LOT of the cenotes and the lagoon you can’t wear sunscreen, so if you burn easily make sure to bring a hat, a sun shirt, and maybe even swim leggings. You can rent bikes and get around to a lot of the cenotes, but we rented a car. Watch out for the “tope” or giant speed bumps in the road while driving. The night club area in Tulum is also nice if that is your scene - very much desert hippie, so do not worry too much about bringing your stilettos. You will be better off in some sandals and a cute bikini/cover up. I am big on wardrobe options but I could have packed way less for 10 days and been perfectly fine. I got the most use out of my sandals, crop tops, light linen clothes, shorts, and skorts. Honestly even though it was worth it for one time, I probably wouldn’t go back to Xcaret (one of the huge resort sponsored theme parks). Obviously very cool and nice to see, but I felt like I got more for my money from snorkeling and paddle boarding trips.
It’s really not like staying at a hotel — a lovely room, nestled in the jungle. A lot of privacy. White sand paths to the beautiful beach. We were there in the second week of December and the beach was very quiet (just before high season starts). Easy walking distance to a lot of beautiful (ie. expensive) restaurants, but that’s the Tulum beach area. The shared bathroom/shower building was actually quite nice and was nicely designed and cared for.
The hotel is situated on a beautiful stretch of beach. The hotel itself is small and cosy. The beach club gets quite busy but it is pleasant nonetheless and serves good food. The friendliness of the staff is amazing, they are really kind, helpful and welcoming. The rooms themselves are not huge but they are comfortable, and anyway you spend most of the time outside in the porch. In terms of value for money it is hard to find better in Tulum beachside.
We really liked the hotel. We'd been uncertain about it online, but the location was gorgeous, especially if like us you really want to be at the quieter end of Tulum, the staff really friendly, the restaurant/cafe on the beach really cute and well decorated, food terrific. We didn't miss a pool at all. Room simple but really big and comfortable, had what you needed. Not fancy but tasteful, very comfortable and lovely mellow vibe.
The Hotel is very we located in the jungle between the beach and the city. The area is very quiet to relax but 10 minutes to the city and about 15 by bicycle to Tulum beach. It has a very nice pool and really good breakfast to start off the day. The garden is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful when we arrived without our luggage because it was lost at the airport. Thank you so much again!
Our room was very large and our kitchen and living room were huge as well each with its own balcony. it was lovely to sit in the balcony in the morning to soak in the morning light and bird calls. Very peaceful! We had breakfast at the hotel which was delicious but maybe a bit pricey, although all of tulum is compared to the rest of Mexico. We used the kitchen which was very well equipped.
Hotel was super clean, modern, Staff Ricardo gave the extra mile with us , Jesus was extraordinary too. The breakfast was super delicious and included in the room rate is a plus. This was our third hotel in Mexico and definitely the best. Room is super comfortable and beautiful. Town is super close with a lot of Restaurants and shopping. Everything was perfect. Don’t look anymore in Tulum
Good location, right on beach with plenty of restaurants nearby. I had an excellent upstairs room which then has a balcony terrace above with hammock sunned and own personal jacuzzi. Cheaper than most places around but still very expensive for Mexico. Though Tulum is probably one of the most expensive places in the country. Wouldn’t visit again because of that.
Nerea Tulum is an amazing hotel. located about 30 minutes from the beach clubs area (you should have a car if you go there), offers an Amazing rooms, over the top breakfast and the staff is doing everything to make you feel welcome. especially Isa the receptionist who helped us to book places and gave the highest level of service.
Very nice hotel with very frendly and helpful staff, clean and enough spacious room and bathroom. Locates in central part of Tulum city, surrounded by many restaurants, bars, shops etc. It is possible to rent a bike at the hotel and they also give a beach towels, what is very convenient! I would stay there again.
Tulum City Centre, Tulum
We had the garden king apartment with full kitchen. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location made it easy to reach the main strip of bars and restaurants as well as bike to the Tulum ruins and hotel zone beaches.
The look of the hotel is very nice, it also has beach access and it's further away from the busy part of Tulum, which made it more quiet. Still walking distance to all the 'hot spots'! The overall look is very minimalistic and the food is superb!!
FANTASTIC location, you couldn't ask for a better area to stay in. Staff was so kind and friendly, made you feel at home. Room was always so clean and honestly one of the best beds I've stayed in - better than 5 star hotels.
On the most beautiful part if the beach and a bit away from the cartel-fueled bustle of central Tulum, the hotel is one of the nicest I have ever stayed in, and had the best food we ate anywhere in Mexico, and we ate well.
amazing eco friendly hotel with all you need for your stay. clean, spacious, with balcony/terrace, rooftop pool and relax zones. friendly staff and bikes for rent at the hotel door. would stay there anytime in Tulum!
lovely little hotel right on the beach about 4 miles outside Tulum. only 16 rooms, staff are pleasant, very chilled vibe, great that you have access to the water sports equipment for free, excellent breakfast.
The location was beautiful! You are right on the white sand beaches, in the heart of Tulum hotel zone. The rooms are beautifully designed and it truly feels like living in paradise.
Hotel was nice, clean room, mostly soundproof with a comfortable bed. It was in good location in Tulum city, very walkable for restaurants and the shopping street. Good value.
I know people have wrote before that their stuff was not so friendly, but during my stay there, they were amazing, now their “angels” offer great communication using WhatsApp and everything is fast. The experience there was unique, and they treated us perfectly. The room was amazing with the waves sound.
Great vibes, very strong positive energy flowing all around the place. It just simply feels great to be there! One of the best places we stayed at in Tulum! Hughly recommended!
unique location, beautiful beach, very kind and supporting staff, best drinks, especially the private beach is amazing, will definitely come back!
